I then found out his guitar was tuned down a step, which was why it looked like he was playing in G (which had also baffled me). Once I tuned down and played it correctly, it sounded much more authentic. The looser strings had a different sound - a little more depth, a bit more scratchy and twangy.

I know a lot of people think it’s just bs about 432hz tuning, but when you really dig deep into science, physics, the esoteric etc etc, you realize that a 432hz tuning really is more in tune with the universe and healing frequencies. I personally do believe that 440hz was made standard in order to keep us from being in tune with nature and the spirit world. Everyone can have their own opinion, but whoever disagrees really hasn’t dug deep enough to understand the significance of 432hz tuning and the power of the numbers 3,6 & 9, especially 9.

Why not do a comparison with the same guitar? That 2nd guitar clearly has different pickups and a different nut. But for me, I wouldn't mind staying in E flat all the time. Most guitarists aren't reading sheet music so it doesn't really matter if you're playing in "Gb" and have a ton of flats in the key signature.
I feel like the fact that you're using two different guitars could affect the tone a little, couldnt you record a clip and then retune and record another?

It’s not JUST about the key. The string tension becomes different when dropped, which causes different tones when the strings are strummed/ picked. 😉
