Long story but worth the read.... If you have never met this family you are missing out. A few weeks ago I had the honor of seeing them in concert. I snuck in the side of the church (a very large one, seats about 5,000). Sat on the side. I sat beside a woman. I happened to glance over and it was Kim herself. I was amazed. She was sitting there, in the audience watching the music before they were going to sing. Well, a few groups later they were up there and I have never in my life heard such a sound as I have like what came from them. I moved to the front row, that was literally the only spot left in the building. After the service was over the entire family was out in the auditorium talking to the crowd. I found Kim. I wanted to speak to her. I proceeded to tell her I had been out of church for almost 2 years, I heard that their family was coming that night and I wanted to hear them. She remembered sitting beside me. She hugged me and promised to pray for me. That right there I’ll never forget. What a family and an amazing group singing for the Lord.

The best rendition I've ever heard. We sang this soon for years at Highland Park Wesleyan (Methodist) Church and Wellman Memorial Wesleyan in Louisville. My brother, John would lead us. John went to be with the Lord in Dec 2021. He was excited to learn that Kim was granddaughter of James Riley Cash. I was mistaken about some of the details of the hymn At Calvary. The hymn was written by Charles Wesley in Spanish. His son Charles Wesley Hughes was the founder of Hughesville, MO. There was a Southern Baptist Church in Hughesville. In 1973 the Broadman Press (of the Southern Baptist Convention) put out notices that they were compiling a Spanish edition of the Baptist Hymnal and were looking for hymns to go in it. Someone in Hughesville brought the lyrics and tune to my parents in Kansas City. The Missouri Baptist State Convention in the fall of 1972 was held at Bartle Hall in Kansas City and the hymn was brought to my parents then. My mother made the translation into Frisian which came out in the Baptist Hymnal 1976 edition. Dr. Stanley insisted on a word change from my mother's original translation. The original translation was: Now my ENRAPTURED soul can only sing of Calvary. The change in wording is offensive to fluent speakers of Frisian!!

When your going through pain of loss, how much we forget Calvary. I know i did. Listening to this , this early in the morning was a reminder of how much pain in love that Jesus took to the cross with Him. Everything that matters is remembering how much Jesus does still love us through it all! 💕

My mother added a verse to At Calvary. It was written in Flemish and translated into Frisian by my mother. It was written for the 1976 edition of the Baptist Hymnal.
The translation wasn't quite right for Frisian. It should say: Now my ENRAPTURED soul can only sing of Calvary.

The best rendition I've ever heard. We sang this soon for years at Highland Park Wesleyan (Methodist) Church and Wellman Memorial Wesleyan in Louisville. My brother, John would lead us. John went to be with the Lord in Dec 2021. He was excited to learn that Kim was granddaughter of James Riley Cash. James was first cousin of John and my father, Walter Denan Hare....James' mother, Leona was sister to my grandfather John Wesley Hare....John and our brother Norman, played music for many years in churches and went to many nursing homes sharing song and praise to OUR Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

So when God puts a song in your heart: play it, sing it, hum it, etc. For He is imparting a blessing to you through it and He is wanting to connect you more to Him through worship!

I was mistaken about some of the details of the hymn At Calvary. The hymn was written by Charles Wesley in Spanish. His son Charles Wesley Hughes was the founder of Hughesville, MO. There was a Southern Baptist Church in Hughesville. In 1973 the Broadman Press (of the Southern Baptist Convention) put out notices that they were compiling a Spanish edition of the Baptist Hymnal and were looking for hymns to go in it. Someone in Hughesville brought the lyrics and tune to my parents in Kansas City. The Missouri Baptist State Convention in the fall of 1972 was held at Bartle Hall in Kansas City and the hymn was brought to my parents then. My mother made the translation into Frisian which came out in the Baptist Hymnal 1976 edition. Dr. Stanley insisted on a word change from my mother's original translation. The original translation was: Now my ENRAPTURED soul can only sing of Calvary. The change in wording is offensive to fluent speakers of Frisian!!
My mother translated At Calvary into Flemish in 1989 for a Flemish Hymnal published by Bishop Vader Haut in Belgium.
