FAQ: PC Specs?? -RTX 4090, i9-13900k, 64GB RAM CAN I PLAY THIS ON CONSOLE?? -Lol no. How to play this? -Check 2nd line of video description. Why did you start episode one with a character you've already played for a few hours? -Mages in Requiem style mod lists take a while to develop. The first 2 hours were rather boring to watch. I spawned in at Windhelm, took a carriage to Whiterun to get the Absorb Knowledge book, then went to the College of Winterhold and literally spammed the spell around all the books I could. Then I spent a good hour in menus learning all the free spell books I had found laying around, sleeping, eating, repeating. And then I went and got Inigo and Frost, which are pretty quick quests, so that I'd have a horse (because getting around without one sucks) and a companion (becauses mages suck bad without one early.
Haven't played in a while, but i remember that in "vanilla requiem" just spamming burst destro spells makes early game foes a breezee due to the way flame dot stacks. Like high elves can escape helgen and instantly rush to the mine and the Talos shrine bandit camp and own them no problemo

I'm pretty stoked I can play as a Dunmer. My first ever character in Morrowind was Dunmer Battlemage, so this feels kind of full circle-ish to me. I don't know if I'll go battlemage route or full on wizard though, we'll see. It seems like the various wizard trees have stuff to deal with just about everything - damage, meat shields through summons, and weapons/armor through summoned daedra.
@TheWandererPlays Snap for your Morrowind character. Last mod version, someone on the Lorerim server had created an Arcane Trickster build- all about being a battlemage, summoning illusions, bound weapons & manipulating your opponents. I'm pretty excited about trying that one out.
Seeing you play has reignited my desire to play Skyrim. I can't exactly play Lorerim because my PC has like 10 year old specs lol but I've come around to building my own mod list for a Vanilla+ experience with very minor graphics stuff.

Considering how you're not duel casting or using both hands independently most of the time, it makes sense for you to equip a shield to catch arrows and the occasional melee blow. Playing Lorerim myself recently, and I'm having huge success with heavy armour that is highly enchanted and occasionally pulling out a shield to stop myself getting used as a pincushion.
@TheWandererPlays I mostly got around this with alchemy. I also enchanted my shield but I don't remember what with. I'm 90% sure you can add stamina enchantments to shields anyway. Light armour is also good when improved and enchanted if stamina becomes a burden. Light shields also exist and the only real differance is how much projectile damage you don't receive. Even in the worst situations I was blocking ~40% of incoming total damage at range. I've found bound weapons/armours to be good but if you add it up, they're much worse than actual armour and the armour values in Lorerim are deceptive. 150 armour sounds like a lot.
