For us oldsters that remember seeing this in the arcade, it was truly a sight to see a machine that had 6 player stations stretched over 2 giant screens. Machine was BEAST and so much fun.
HELL YEA THAT THING WAS A GAINT MACHINE OF HAPPINESS
I've only seen the 6 player version of this machine once. Hershey Park had one at one of their arcades back in the mid-90s. It was truly a sight to behold and play.
@@jrit221b I remember that also at Hershey Park at that time, they also had a 6 player at towson town mall in Baltimore County Maryland
Yes it was, and was also worth the money spent
I remember a Christian center had it where I live. I was disappointed when they got rid of it.
I like the part where Colossus yelled ORAAAAGGGHH!!!
HardManbow me too ughhhhhhb
HardManbow con tantos poderes,no, tiene caso chale!!!
Would've been cool if he yelled 'ORAAAAGGGHH' in the 'Dreadpool' movies.
@@Launchpad05 I would have loved that!
Aka every Magfest ever
I remember playing this in Chuck E. Cheese with this girl, we almost beat magneto we were using tokens like crazy. It was one of the most fun-filled memories I ever had in there.
Duvmasta nostalgia is an amazing feeling, i don't think my parents ever took me too a chuck e cheeses as they had pretty good eyes for smoke and mirrors, luckily the 7 11 and bowling alley had all the baddest games, though I played the 6 player version at Towson town mall in baltimore County MD
Did u touch her bewbies
Me too but by myself lol.
The younger generation will never know or experience the intense fun and excitement of going to the arcades: perhaps the graphics weren't as impressive as they are now but the fun and excitement of the loud speakers and open competition was off the chain! My favorite spot for arcades, in particular this classic 6 player X-men game was at six flags AKA Great America.
Word ☝, we had a six flags in m.d. i played this at towson town center in baltimore county
putting xbox 360 and ps3 in a cabinet
Agreed. While it's true that online gaming is far more convenient and has opened up new avenues of gaming (like MMOs or battle royale games) that couldn't exist before, there was something truly magical about stepping into a video game arcade and just FEELING the rush of sounds from all the cabinets like a wave of energy over you. It was a place to escape from the humdrum of school or (sadly for some) unhappy family life, to hang out with friends, or find new ones. One of my favourite memories from my youth was playing the 1990 TMNT arcade game with 3 other random kids, and all of us just pumping in coin after coin as we desperately tried to beat Krang and Shredder. And when we finally managed it, we all just shared a smile together and then went our separate ways. There was just something about that that stuck with me; 4 random kids just combining our efforts to reach a common goal. We didn't know each other, but we all helped out.
@@Zaxares IKR. Even at 50yrs old today, I still love walking thru arcades just for that nostalgic feel of the familiar SFX, like this game shown here for instance.
I played with many random strangers with a common love of virtual violence. Taking a page from Word, "Death is an experience best shared"...& well shared here it was😏.
@noahpartic7586 I know I love the feeling of a real cab especially one with unique controls
getting 6 people too play this that all know what they are doing was an accomplishment itself
John Jameson lol
I agree, because this is seriously the most comlicated game ever made.
Yes it is
It's a mess....
You should Google "Twilight Imperium".
some people don't know this. but this game is based on a cartoon pilot named X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men, before it fox kids animated cartoon was even a thought. someone has it uploaded on youtube I believe
I remember seeing the pilot a while back. I always wondered why they never made anymore episodes after that.
Novgskua Osbraxus yes the animation was dope sorry about the late reply
Reginald Andrews I didn’t like it. I never liked the orange Wolverine and I didn’t like Cyclops in a onesie. Also didn’t like Wolverine with an Australian accent. The only good thing about the pilot is that it had Colossus and Nightcrawler as regular characters, but we got Gambit so it was a fair tradeoff.
one of the greatest pilots of all time
I have that on vcr tape
Just imagine THIS game but based on the 1992 animated series:
Cyclops, Storm and Wolverine would wear their costumes from the show.
Colossus, Nightcrawler and Dazzler would be replaced by Beast, Gambit and Rogue.
Kitty Pryde would be replaced by Jubilee.
Omega Red and Sabertooth would be among the bosses.
You get the idea.
Sounds like someone needs too start working on a fan based game
stevacus Agreed.
@Bob could work
Nah I’ll keep Colossus and Nightcrawler. Dazzler was cool but could easily be replaced by the three you mentioned.
@@Rgoid this video game is based on the pride of the x men anime
The sound systems that his machine had, made the Island board stand out. One of few machines that offered dual screen action. The game is timeless and can still hold its own today.
The Mad Lion dude I totally agree
This one and Darius 2 really stood out!!
I have fond memories of playing this in the arcade with 5 random strangers and whenever a swarm of enemies would appear, either the dazzler or colossus player would always say “I got it” and use their ability.
Thats sick!
For those of us who were born in the early to mid 70's and had experienced the graphics of the Atari 2600, this was cutting edge af (as how you youngsters would describe things nowadays). We went from the simple sprites of Pac-Man to large, (more) detailed and playable 16-bit characters with sampled audio in stereo.
I bet! My first arcade games i remember playing was double dragon, altered beast, and pacman. At home we had a ti-99 😁. I can only imagine seeing how it was like watching ttl chip games turn into full blown sprites with a cpu. To this day i, robot's 1984 release date blowns my friggen gourd
Yeah, Konami had already given us multiple four player beat em ups by now, the six player two monitor BEAST of a cabinet was a sight to behold. Arcade I worked at had one. You knew, anywhere in the arcade, if someone was Colossus. He competed with the sf2 Dhalsim elephants regularly for auditory supremacy of the arcade.
It was always a Colossus player that spammed his special every time I played.
Yea, me. I never saw the 6 player version. Bro I had to cross a busy street to play this. I was 8.
I died when at 20:01 Storm just dives to her doom and screams all the way down.
Hahaha
She clearly forgot she can fly...
Ironic since Storm can fly lol.
Oh my gosh, that's hilarious. I didn't even remember characters made that sound when they fell.
🤣😭... 😆
I remember playing this for the first time in an arcade at Disney world in 1992 when I was a child. The arcade machine was immense, prob at least 6 feet across, played it for hours. It was the coolest thing I ever saw and to this day will never forget.
Did you notice that there was no Marvel Comics villain: Professor Power action figure that was ever made? Even though he's deceased!
Huh
Pretty spectacular
Colossus: wooaaarrrgh WOOAAARRRRGH
This game and Chris Claremont’s “Australian Outback” X-Men in the comics are what turned Dazzler from a joke to a fan favorite.
I always liked using dazzler or nightcrawler'and i like hearing about this different places this cabinet has been set up
@@StevenCusic Funny story. My parents had a time share in a condo association near Disney World. In one of the rooms of the main building was a room they called “the arcade” (only had like four video cabinets, one pinball machine and a ping pong table). One of those video cabinets was X-Men and another was The Simpsons. My cousins and I used to say that it would be so cool if Disney owned X-Men and the Simpsons so Disney World would be fun for us… cut to 30 years later…
The four games I always played in the arcade. X-Men,Wrestlefest, Turtles and The Simpsons.
"Nothing can stop The Blob."
Always found that line comical.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Np, hopefully i'll get some time too make some more. Thanks Brandon :)
the sound effects and music from this game ( Colossus's Huuuuuaaaaaaa in particular) is instant middle school weekend at the arcade nostalgia. Like, so intense it caught me off guard.
Yea very loud
2:07 “Beast!” “Wolverine!” “Rogue!” “Gambit!” “Storm!” “Cyclops!”
That’s how it would be if this game was based on the 1992 animated series.
15:50 “Go and rescue Jubilee from the cave!”
We need a 1990s romhack of this game with Beast, Rogue, and Gambit in it!
IKR, that series rocked on FOX Kids Saturday Morning. Play that game I would.
WOAAAA WOAAAAAAA
Colossus
The KING OF THE WOAAAA
i played this so much back in the day, what a time to be alive

Nice list thanks!
Remember, this game is based on the Pryde of the X-Men pilot, the first and worst.
just when you think Juggernaut can't get any tougher they give him a bazooka thats about as big as him
haha yea that is pretty intense
uuuaaaarrrhhhh!!!!
Marcos Vinícius whoaaaaaaaa
At our mall arcade, I would always get stuck playing as Dazzler because that was the only slot open lol
I always liked using night crawler
@@StevenCusic Yeah that character and Colossus were always taken lol
This game never got boring and you could find it at just about any arcade outlet. Powerrrr!!!
It was everywhere!
@@StevenCusic i actually never ever ever got to play this video game but i did play the simpson video game of where Maggie was kidnapped with my twin brother trevor who was born eighteen months after me i am A January one aka new year day and he is July 29th
Always did love that intro.
I can just imagine having 6 buddies paying this together in the arcade back in the day. That would be so fun
It's amazing I hope you get the chance
Damn I loved playing this at the arcade. I recall mostly 1 arcade that had the full 6 cabinet so I was mostly stuck with the 4 design. My top choice was Dazzler since I barely heard of her & wanted such to have a chance. I'll never forget the SFX particularly Colossus's OOOOOOOAAAAAAHHHH. That spark wasn't part of normal canon of course but DAMMMMMMMN I wish it was, next to Wolverine's Laser Claws.
Since last decade, I still listen to the music themes of The Junk Factory & Savage land 30 min tracks on TH-cam, I highly recommend.
GAME ON & GO SAVE THE CITY👊.
The laser claws were something else lol
@StevenCusic If I had My way, said Laser Claws would be part of Canon.
@noahpartic7586 dude I totally agree with you
14:25, WELCOME TO DIE!
solidsnake4214 hahaha
Good to see Samus keep busy in between Metroids.
i am sure the samus enemies are reavers
This is where I became a colossus fan. Days of quarters and interacting in person, sigh....
14:19
What a slide by wolverine!
10/10
:-)
RonkoDDR haha thanks for pointing that out
Was cracking up at the pit action lol 19:31 - 20:07
Lol yea good times we where all like *everyone jump in
This game needs to be re-made, but with more X-Men like Gambit, Rogue, Psylocke, Iceman, etc.
Thats a great idea!
And Jubilee in Kitty Pryde’s place!
As a 90s kid,i remember having martial arts lessons on a saturday morning, then after lunch my friends and i would hit the arcades and play this
Side scrolling beat em ups were the ultimate party games, perfect for bonding
Such a Genuine feeling ✨️
Us 80 and 90s kids grew up at Chucky Cheeses ...to play this.. hittin up our parents and make them spend 20 dollors on endless quarters for them to at least get a break from our crazy asses lol😂
I love how all 6 playable characters are in this
One of my favorite beat em ups! I miss this arcade gem. My & a group of friends use to tear this up at the arcade at our local mall. Night crawler was my dude! 👊👊
it's awesome how he stomps enemies
I played this wayyyy too much as a child. This was my favorite arcade game until Dance Dance Revolution became a thing.
I loved DDR. Dai Ken Kai & Graduation were my top songs to dance to...FUN😏.
29:35 I just laugh at Magneto that keep knock down as he didn't chance to attack. 😂😂😂😂
After this came X-Men Legends 1 & 2.
I still find the falling down the cliff stuff funny, especially for Storm who can fly, and Nightcrawler who can teleport. It should be a non-issue for them in theory. :P
I loled at Cyclops's scream when he took the fall.
True
Lmao
19:50 Love the part where everyone started jumping off the cliff purposely.
I remember my family doing the same thing.
Hahaha yea thats my favorite part too
0:23 every aracade that had this game... this is all i remembered as a kid....woooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!
me, my brother, and friends play this as a kid in the mall arcade
Me too i must have been around 9 when i saw it in towson mall, Totally blew my friggen goard
Same. Menlo park mall edison nj
Damn, Colossus is overusing his power. It's as if I'm right there playing it myself. Colossus is the best.
Edit: Geez, you all curb stomped Pyro.
I love playing this for hours back in the 90s.
ME TOO
Everytime Pyro throws a fireball it sounds like an elephant! LOL
Lmao i never even recognized that!
Nightcrawler, after realizing what he’s about to get into: 2:27
you always knew this machine was in the arcade the moment you stepped in because you would hear Colossus’s scream every couple seconds 😂
Yes it was so loud
2:47 - "oh hai, Kitty Pryde!"
I loved playing this game. I also liked how it gave some of the heroes extra powers, like in comic books Wolverine can't shoot lasers from his claws, Nightcrawler can't destroy anything when he teleports and Colossus can't destroy anything when he charges up.
Laser claws was awesome 👌
This brings back memories, me and my friends would meet at the arcade and it would be all 6 of us playing this
Heck yea
One of My Favorite Marvel/X-Men Beat em Ups arcade game.
Thanks dude Im. Glad you enjoyed it :)
stevacus Thanks Because I love about the game is 6 Players the Story and the Music.
"X-Men! Welcome...TO DIE!" is some top shelf unintentionally funny Engrish
'Welcome too.... Early 90's translations' lol
This game was so fun. Odysey 1 in WA used to have this and this was my go to game
This was front and center in Towson town centers arcade in baltimore county
colossus: Ooooaaaaah! Ooooaaaaah!
It's probably the only 6 player beat'em up, that's one of the things that makes it so special.
I had too do alot of planning too get the whole shin dig going, thier is a whole back story too this video, for instance the reason wolverine is playing so poorly is because he had a drug problem and he stole the change out the change jar in the living room and my friend who owned the house didn't want him there so dude playing was stressing the whole time lol
@@StevenCusic I suppose when a lot of people go down their list of friends, there is always a wild card or two.
@@jaynukem1929 all we can do is help be positive for them and hope they can turn thie lives around, eventually he did thankfully
@@StevenCusic You should have him play the game again, and this time have him do more justice to Wolverine.
@@jaynukem1929 ha indeed unfortunately im on the other side of the USA NOW! O_o
IDOD. In Defense of Dazzler. She has such a cool power and it's awesome they included her in this game. People forget her legacy and story. Jean wouldn't have really worked in this game...or Rogue (blowing kisses to kill?)... Jubilee is a legend but let's be real--her powers are so similar to Dazzler.
Got dam does this bring back memories. I remember even when I was playing something else in the cade, like Street Fighter 2, I could still hear Colossus`s "duurrRAAAAAAAAAH!!" in the air lol. Good times.
Lol that thing WAS LOUD
@@StevenCusic
🤣😂🤣 Nostalgia, such a great thing!
29:37 Cyclops-take that wall! That will teach you to kidnap Professor X!
That wall totally Deserved it!
This was alot of fun to see and watch the players play this arcade game back in the late 90s. So much fun to hang out around the arcade place and so crowded from Friday nights to Sunday nights. Good times!!
Glad too give you some good memories 😀
Bring back the X-Men for next Gen consoles
Give me this game in new technology graphics for the PS5 I would buy it.
I miss the X-Men games
30:30 Magneto tries his best to cast his shield just once but it gets cancelled by 6 ults
Total mudstomp
Night Crawler ftw, my fav character
Kruppt808 mine too
Mines too😁 he always came in clutch
Hey kruppt, you from Hawaii too, eh?
@@thomasbrown6527 i am :)
@@Kruppt808 sweet 😁 let me guess, you played this game at carnival land at pearl kai?
Imagine if the villain Arcade was a villain in the X-Men Arcade game.
That would be dope
X-MENNNNNNNNNNNN I LOVE OPENING TO THIS X-MEN ARCADE !!!
Andrew Flood its dope :)
19:11 Top 10 brutal anime death.
wide screen side scroller action - THIS IS NEXT GEN!!!!!!
When 4:3 isn't enough
For the X-Men: It's we got the main enemy to deal with.
As a current 40 year old they had this right in the prime of arcade playing pre-teen youth. It was at the local High Point NC Putt Putt right at the entrance. Damn the sound was amazing. I think the only game to sound as good was Killer Intinct 2 a few years later.
Yea even when the qsound cps2 games couldnt compete unless on a jumbotron. What else could do it.. the mk voice actors, Arnold in T2 arcade game, and John / Sarah Connor yelling *NO! robocop arcade intro the voice and his leg pulling out the gun, of yea who can forget Narc. Tmnt theme song, Bad dudes voices, and of course killer instinct especially 2. There's more ut those where king
Due to the amount of noise in arcades, I never noticed that they used different voices for the 6-player version until now! They don't sound as good as the original in my opinion. At least Colossus's OOOOOOAAAAHHH! is the same. Haha!
Hey I gonna get back to you on this when I get some time to check it out and compare on newer version of mame
Thanks for liberally using the special powers, I've seen gamers conserve too much, it looks boring that way. But don't be shy to show them you are a mutant and got special abilities!
Most appreciated!
This would have made an amazing Switch port, maybe even with 8 players
That is a great idea!!!
The art of beat em ups sadly died after like 2007
Peruvian Potato nope, they’re still around
there are only 6 player slots, what would the others do?
I played this game the most times at a rest area on the nj turnpike. We would stop there almost every time we would go down south back in the day. Wolverine was my favorite, but for some reason I wound up using Dazzler. #memories
Thats funny same thing, dazzler just looked cool too me
@@StevenCusic come to think of it; I remember wolverine would always be broken most of the time.
Two things I noticed: The person who plays Wolverine never uses his mutant power, and no one is losing life, unless they fall off the edge. How did you manage that?
the seed sucks this game and i used cheats
Falls down hole.
That looks fun, I wanna try it too 😂
Colossus's special move was the most fun to do but I'd say Nightcrawler's looked the coolest.
I wonder why the Wolverine player never used his special move once throughout the entire game.
The player was going through something
I liked stomping people as night crawler
Kinda takes the fun out of it when you keep using the mutant powers.
That's what happens when people aren't playing on actual quarters/money, remember that special attacks drain player HP so you typically didn't use them in a normal arcade playthrough.
fire man: Viro will turn you t-
Wolverine: SHAD UP
Cheesing with colossus.
I remember spending a lot of quarters in this machine with my old school buddy's
I know this video is over seven years old but to anybody new that might be watching it and wanting to try the game out for themselves you can set mame to remove the gap between to two screen. During gameplay just press Tab then go to Video Options and select Side by Side Gapless. Hopefully somebody out there finds this helpful.
Yea back than if you did that it would glitch out
@@StevenCusic Ah ok I didn't realize it did that in older versions. Thanks for letting me know over 2 years later! lol
we will never see this game played well for the rest of eternity, bros.
Sorry yawl:(
this game looks extremely hard but, fortunately, this gameplay give us one of the finest (but complex) strategy. Also you need to Synchronize it perfectly:
add credits + use mutant power (always)
it could take you some time but if you practice, you can get it just in a few months :P
gabrielherm you seem confident more input would be appreciated
"Welcome to Die" was the name of my WoW Arena 2's team lmao. This game was (and still is) the shit >:)
Forever my dude
13:18
Nightcrawller just got a WR (for 1992, yes?) for 100m run :-)
RonkoDDR yea lol
This fits perfectly on my phone.
😄 🤣
19:25 The ‘92 lineup:
Wolverine, Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Storm, Rogue and Jubilee.
I wish SO bad they would remake this and put my boy Gambit in it.
I didn't know there were a six players version. 😱
Yea it was a weird setup, I think they used 2 boards not sure, but what I am sure of is that they had 2 crt screens facing up vertically at a mirror at a precise angle which gave the image of widescreen
Wow! 6 players! :D Insane!
Cyclops: Remember everyone! Work as a team!
*Proceeds to get his ass handed him over and over*
Haha
Man I was like 5 playing this...me and my brother..with like 3 other friends? We beat this pretty regularly. Was fun going to the arcade with like 10$ in quarters.
Thats friigen awesome!
Oh that's nothing used to do that on consoles too. 4 player ninja turtles, avengers. a mortal kombat tournament. I lived in 1 of those neighborhoods where there was a kid in just about every house on the street.
@@airimee mee too!!!!
🎉🥳🎉 Put the quarters up!
Too bad those days are over
Harry Boyd indeed
with 6 people?
Look at all those enemies.

Is Xmen the only 6 player arcade beat up in existence ? Most usually had a maximum of 4 players
There's a few but I think the most was 28 players for galaxian^3 on the namco theatre 6 unit which was a suped up version of the namco system 21 hardware
damn what a party, Imagine playing this stoned as fuck with your friends.
I did
