I met him as a twelve year old about 16 years ago in LA. My dad owned a restaurant and one of our delivery guys was his friend. He had started a board company with another skater, I don't even remember the name, but I was able buy his signature board right from him! He was so friggin nice. Told me to learn doing tricks going fast. Good advice.
Always like Barbee. His style is so good. His no complies and 360 rolling power slides have so much swagger. That guitar is a fender jaguar. I have one with black finish & chrome pick guards Dude is so cool.
I'm so glad that you guys decided to do something with Ray. I saw adventures with chris and was totally bummed that all chris could do was put out tiny 2 minute videos about Ray. He obviously takes for granted the fact that he knows someone who is so inspiring. I'm just stoked that you guys can provide some real insight into the one and only Ray Barbee.
wow Ray, awesome story - you'er a great player, very soulful lines you're palying man I love it. I wish I could play with that much feeling. You're really great man! keep rock in on!!!!
I really wish these were more in depth on the skating side. The musical interest in this interview is still interesting, but hearing more about Ray as he became a legend of skating would have been amazing. For me personally, it was his part in Public Domain (if I remember correctly), that really inspired the style of skating I would adopt, and hearing about his journey through the world of skating, including owning his own skate company, is the meat of the story.
Lol im about the same as him. I'm 13, I got a guitar for christmas and I just bought my first board about 3 weeks ago. Lol I can play the stairway to heaven solo but I cant do an Ollie.
The song is called "A Word Aptly Spoken" off Ray's album, Triumphant Procession.
He has always been a great role model with such positive energy. You can even feel it in his music. Just a class act!
Barbee is, and always will be, the skater's skater

Seeing ray skate for the 1st time on ban this is what inspired me to skate
ray has one of the best styles in skateboarding, its fun to watch him just cruising the street
this guy is amazing
Always loved watching Barbee skate-he's a hell of a musician too! This was beautiful-thanks!
The fact that he shreds a squier when he can play whatever he chooses speaks alot for squier and those classic vibe series guitars. Ray is the man
