I bought this a few days ago, and it is AWESOME. Never had one before. It's amazing how a piece of old tech can be more useful than these new smartphones. From my experience, it's less distracting, easier to call someone (just pickup and start dialing), it cannot be used as, essentially, a pocket tracking device, it can go one month on a single charge, it's waterproof and shock proof to some extent. I have a Galaxy 8, but now, I just use it as a "pocket tablet." Only draw backs: camera is rather primative, but at least there's none of that button mashing you get from a text screen. My advice, for $60, give it a try. If it doesn't work, maybe donate it to someone less fortunate who just needs basic communication abilities.

Honestly, good for her. Kids these days are too exposed to smart technology like tablets and smartphones. I'm not saying we should limit tech for kids. But slowly introduce them so they don't get too dependant on it. My parents did the same for me when i was 13. Gave a simple ol Nokia 1280 in 2011 and hey, it works like a charm to simply text and call people
Things you have to consider now if you live in the US, and have AT&T/Circket, or any prepaid that uses AT&T Towers is does that old phone support GSM 3G bands, as AT&T shutdown their 3G network in December 2017, with T-Mobile being next, then followed Verizon, and Sprint to make way for 5G networks.
Imagine sending the 4G version back to the early 2000s. Who wouldn't be impressed by a 3310 with a large color display, camera, LED flashlight, MP3/video player, FM radio, and Wi-Fi? Phones have changed and improved a lot since then.
If you say improved you mean no headphone jack yea apple innovative saw shit every year just slap a 5000mah battery I don't care apple is far behind most phones yet some cheaper androids have better features than some flagships

They still SELL these. I believe nostalgia is not the only reason for buying these, not after so long after its introduction. Nostalgia has pretty much died long ago. I used one myself for 2 years. I would still use it, except I got an even better phone, a Nokia E75 (from 2009). And the 3310 has some irritating bugs in its software. The S30+ is really not the Symbian OS that Nokia developed for years. I know this is not for everyone. It is just for some people, but for them, 3310 is by far the best new phone available. I, for example, don't have FB account, don't use Skype/Whatsapp/Twitter/etc. But I do make lots of calls, and I send lots of text messages. And, for some reason, the touch screens don't work well for me (I have several tablets, and have tested several touch screen phones from different manufacturers), they don't always record my touching the screen. I can feel my finger touching the screen, but the table does not recognize it. Maybe I have dry fingers or something. Whatever the reason, touch screens are a pain to use for me. 3310 has excellent keyboard and every time I press a key, it records, without fail. Very reliable, unlike all touch screen phones I have ever tried. Same thing when I try putting cursor at a specific letter on screen. Only infrequently it actually goes where I want. Most of the time I end up erasing more letters just to the one I'm trying to fix. With 3310, I can write messages while walking and paying attention to traffic around me. Not happening with a touch screen phone. Oh, you can tell me about voice control, but having tried number of times for several years, they seem to get only about two thirds of my words correct. I don't have that bad an accent, but... well, it doesn't work for me. Also, I don't want to "talk to myself" while walking outside. Embarrasing. 3310 solved this perfectly: I can easily type without looking at the phone, and still know what is happening around me. Same with calling someone. I can select someone I call frequently from the phonebook without looking at the phone. For older people the 3310 is also an excellent phone: the user interface is simple enough for most, and the physical keyboard with clearly separated keys is great for someone with shaky hands. Of course, there are phones specifically designed for old people, that have even bigger keys, so 3310 is not necessarily the absolute best for them. But there are downsides, too. The software is buggy and falls from the high standard the old Nokia had for phone OS. For example, it will not store the BT headphone ID data correctly. It works perfectly, if I pair the headset every time I use it, but if I don't, it connects again, but somehow the voice quality goes down. I have no problems with the same headset with other phones, only 3310. Also, the phonebook doesn't store first and last name separately, so I have to decide how I want them showed before hand. Luckily I was able to edit the phonebook in computer. One more thing: the original 3310 only had 2G. This is OK normally, but I drive and talk regularly, and there are some, not many but some, spots, where operators' 2G fields fails. Nothing serious, but having 2G/3G/4G would take that annoyance away.
Its good to have some secondary emergency phone on hand, for example when the main one runs out of battery and you really need to call someone. The battery life here is very good also, i think 260h on standby, and maybe like a week when shut down
It's not cheap at all. You can get the same features from a 40-50€ Alcatel, and those are flip phones. If you want a really basic phone with inferior specs, you can get a Wiko for as low as 20 €. So yeah, it's overpriced given what its competition is up to.
This was my first phone. It was so precious to the 11 year old me, that I dont want my friends to know that I have one. I dont want them to touch it. My precious! 🤣🤣🤣😃

A friend of mine got this phone for her kid who just entered first grade. It's a good thing so that they could still contact each other
Honestly, good for her. Kids these days are too exposed to smart technology like tablets and smartphones.
I'm not saying we should limit tech for kids. But slowly introduce them so they don't get too dependant on it. My parents did the same for me when i was 13. Gave a simple ol Nokia 1280 in 2011 and hey, it works like a charm to simply text and call people
For an old phone, I'd choose a Blackberry, because of that little keyboard.
I really want a passport
the nokia E's of the same era also have a keyboard, and they are more durable and also have much more (working) apps available
John Squarez yeah I have no idea why but it’s just so fascinating and cool looking
Nokia: Releases New Nokia 3310
People: Drops the 3310 with glass display and cracks.
Nokia: I never said this version is indestructible
We'd be a better society if we all went back to these phones and brought back MSN messenger.
I'm actually thinking about it, does it have Spotify? That's probably the only thing I care about except for phonecalls and texting
@Joe Bloggs cool, i´m going to do that. I want to do that with audiobooks as well
Imagine sending the 4G version back to the early 2000s. Who wouldn't be impressed by a 3310 with a large color display, camera, LED flashlight, MP3/video player, FM radio, and Wi-Fi?
Phones have changed and improved a lot since then.
It has radio? Like built in and don’t have to download a stupid app for it?
If you say improved you mean no headphone jack yea apple innovative saw shit every year just slap a 5000mah battery I don't care apple is far behind most phones yet some cheaper androids have better features than some flagships
I got one and now it's my most important phone
Actually Austin time traveled and brought us this review so early
If i could bring an old nokia 3310 to PUBG I'll be unstopable
That is banned in the game its too op
1) It can call reinforcements and drop nokia 3310 Bombs
2) 100% defense from bullets.
3) Throw it on the ground to create 8.9 Magnitude Earthquake, and;
4) It can act as a bomb, more powerful than a thousand tsar bombas.
I don't get it...
he was referring to nokia grenade in PUBG.

Me: *Drops Phone* NOOOOOOO!
My Brother: What, is it broken?
Me: NOOO THE FLOOR
old nokia 3310: GOD mode
New nokia 3310:Survival mode
I believe these phones would be great as a kids phone instead of getting them an iPhone
Its good to have some secondary emergency phone on hand, for example when the main one runs out of battery and you really need to call someone. The battery life here is very good also, i think 260h on standby, and maybe like a week when shut down
This is probably the best comment section on TH-cam..
i only came here for the comments...
The Finnish army used to throw old 3310s at the enemy until they retreated
Nokia: “Charge it to full in 1945 and use it until WW3” “Missing a brick?! Not anymore” “Sturdy and sexy”
😂😂😂
I got pissed off when I tried it in store and there was no snake...
Dude I love the aesthetic design of your room!
Not cheap? 60 dollars? That's a full tank of gas that's cheap
@William Ferro Depends on where you live. In Denmark it is barely a full tank. You can have roughly 40 liters (10,5 gallons) for 60 US $
It's not cheap at all.
3310 was my second phone, I was 22. my first one was a used 2001 Ericson. time runs fast.
Fun video. I would be interested in getting this phone, only because the first phone I ever owned was the original Nokia 3310. I used it for a good 5 years and I still have it in a box somewhere. Brings back memories.

2021: I started to use my 20 years Nokia 3330 (sorry I also have a 3310 but I am fixing it). I have an iPhone and I am using this to try to cure the addiction smart phones cause. The feeling is just great, small to carry and remembers my childhood when this phone was the coolest phone arround...
