The worst thing about this bill is that it doesn't matter what your intent is, it's what someone else interprets it to be and the complaint can come from anyone, even if not involved in the conversation directly.

You are correct but after arresting you, the state is then required to produce evidence to prove that you are guilty. And if they cannot then you have to be released.
The difference with the hate speech bill is that the onus can be placed upon you to prove that you are innocent. E.g. someone sends you a meme that is deemed to be hateful. You might have done nothing with it, looked at it once and forgotten about it but should you be arrested for being in possession of 'hate material' you must now prove that you did not intend to disseminate the image any further.
That and the fact that they decided not to actually define what hate speech actually is.

PRESIDENT HIGGINS CAN REFUSE TO SIGN THE BILL..he is meant to represent the PEOPLE!!
      read below:
POWERS of PRESIDENT HIGGINS 🇮🇪 to STOP something of GREAT IMPORTANCE that is AGAINST the WILL of the Irish PEOPLE, but it has NEVER been exercised by any Irish PRESIDENT BEFORE.
The PRESIDENT of IRELAND 🇮🇪 has the AUTHORITY NOT to SIGN a NEW BILL into LAW.
The PRESIDENT has 2 FURTHER POWERS in RELATION to LEGISLATION, which have NEVER been EXERCISED to DATE:
      PROPOSALS of NATIONAL IMPORTANCE:
      ARTICLE 27
of the CONSTITUTION, the PRESIDENT MAY REFUSE to SIGN a BILL IF a MAJORITY of the MEMBERS ofSEANAD and at LEAST ONE-THIRD of
the MEMBERS of the DÁIL PETITION the PRESIDENT NOT to SIGN IT, on the GROUNDS that the BILL CONTAINS a PROPOSAL of such NATIONAL IMPORTANCE, that the WILL of the PEOPLE SHOULD be FOUND OUT. 🤔 👍
The President MUST CONSULT with the COUNCIL of STATE BEFORE DECIDING whether or NOT to SIGN the BILL.
      In this situation,
      IF the PRESIDENT
DECIDES NOT to SIGN the BILL,
      an ORDINARY REFERENDUM is HELD.
To date, NO ORDINARY REFERENDUM has taken place.
It's NOW TIME, for the IRISH PEOPLE to DEMAND that PRESIDENTHIGGINS repres ents the PEOPLE of IRELAND 🇮🇪 and REFUSE to SIGN the EU IMMIGRATION PACT, and any new HATE SPEECH LAW Into law / LEGALISATION,
      until he EXERCISES his position as President of Ireland & representative of the people, in this matter of GREAT IMPORTANCE;
to 'FIND OUT the WILL of the PEOPLE'
of Ireland, by way of a REFERENDUM for the people of IRELAND to DECIDE on the EU IMMIGRATION PACT & on any new HATE SPEECH bill.
The people of Ireland need to request & demand this from President Higgins in this matter of GREAT IMPORTANCE to the Irish people.

Any chance of President Higgins referring the legislation to the Supreme Court, if the legislators admit to not having considered the legislation they are passing ? Government wants to criminalize the expression of opinions that anyone regards as offensive. This is not the same thing by a country mile as incitement to hatred, which is already an indictable crime.

It's NOW TIME, for the IRISH PEOPLE to DEMAND that PRESIDENTHIGGINS repres ents the PEOPLE of IRELAND 🇮🇪 and REFUSE to SIGN the EU IMMIGRATION PACT, and any new HATE SPEECH LAW Into law / LEGALISATION,
      until he EXERCISES his position as President of Ireland & representative of the people, in this matter of GREAT IMPORTANCE;
to 'FIND OUT the WILL of the PEOPLE'
of Ireland, by way of a REFERENDUM for the people of IRELAND to DECIDE on the EU IMMIGRATION PACT & on any new HATE SPEECH bill.
The people of Ireland need to request & demand this from President Higgins in this matter of GREAT IMPORTANCE to the Irish people.
      🇮🇪 ☘️

Their speech is hateful towards us, so will they be held accountable for their anti Christian anti traditional family rhetoric..
If far right is seen as a danger then the extreme opposite far left must be equally offensive..
You cant have a one sided argument constantly blaming one viewpoint, because that is a reaction to the opposite viewpoint, therefore logically both are equally provocative. Especially when a certain young woman us being promoted by the media as a hero representing the left viewpoint, if she was a traditional minded woman ahe wouldn't get airtime or public adulation from the rainbow clad people.

I was present in a Garda station when Helen McEntee visited. I'm not a member of the Garda but I was there because of my job. She had been to at least two other stations that day and she spent about an hour there. Local senior officers spoke to her about issues they had a problem with and how young people get involved in crime, in their experience. The Minister didn't speak once, took no notes and didn't record anything. Perhaps, a transcript was sent to her later, I don't know but to me, she looked to be going through the motions but not very interested.
