Hi Deborah- just to thank you for your fabulous flossmas series of videos. The content has been so informative, interesting and fun. Best wishes for the Holidays and the new year.
I am so glad you enjoyed it! I wasn't quite sure myself what the month would bring, but I have enjoyed filming and visiting with everyone each day. Happy holidays to you too!
It’s not a Christmas ‘album’ but every year from Thanksgiving through Christmas I listen to Don Mclean’s For The Memories. I definitely play it when decorating the tree. A compilation of 21 oldies that may be hard to find in CD form but is readily available on Apple music. No question, one of my favorites of all time. I hope you give it a listen! Happy Holidays to you!
Hi Deborah! Happy Flossmas Day 22! Hi Doc, so glad to see your loving nature again today 😻. Congrats on being on vacation, definitely a good thing at this time of the year. I am more of an oldies traditional Christmas music, going to church, or school production from the 1960s/1970s type with the exception of the country group Alabama. I owned all of their Christmas CDs and it is now on my computer so I listen to it off and on throughout the year. My daughter was raised on their music and has attended a few of their concerts with me since, back in their prime, I could afford to take her with me since most of the time the tickets were only $10 each. I have seen them well over 30 times throughout their heyday. I am so enjoying the chats and questions each day. I am really going to miss this when Flossmas is over. Have a great day! Dawn in Texas
Enjoy your day off and stay away from Costco...the parking is insane as well as the inside but the checkout lines went fast. I enjoy all types of Christmas songs, from Frank Sinatra to Mariah Carey. See you tomorrow!
Oh goodness! I bet Costco is so awful at the time. I have to venture out for one last grocery run tomorrow, just to a local store, and I hope it's not too bad. We'll see...
Thank you for another most enjoyable visit. Adding to my comments on your last video, I have two Christmas songs for you to listen to. You may know them already, but they are my favorites at this time of year. First is Christmas Canon, all versions are lovely but the one version I love the most is Christmas Canon by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. There is something about those children’s voices ❤. Next, you have not likely heard before. The way it is performed with individual musical instruments adding emphasis to the words as they are sang is simply genius and, to me, very moving. You will want to listen with the volume turned up. It is “Do You Hear What I Hear” on Jim Brickman’s album titled Peace. It features Anne Cochran & Tracy Silverman. Enjoy,😊
Thank you so much for those recommendations! I'm familiar with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra Canon piece as well as Do You Hear What I Hear, but not the Jim Brickman version. I will definitely check that out!
I've always wanted to have a good voice for singing but I sound more like a frog croaking. The only one that appreciated my voice was my oldest granddaughter when she was a baby and couldn't sleep. My mother had Bing Crosby's Christmas album. I can't say it was on my top 1,000 albums. LOL My all time favorite Christmas song well besides the usual ones I love is Blue Christmas by Elvis. The next ones would have to be Pretty Papers by several different artist and Sammy Kershaw's Christmas Time's a a coming done Cajun style. I love Cajun music. I love old rock and roll to CCR to old country and bluegrass. I have really enjoyed your flossmas and seeing your advent calendar. Opening the advent gifts have been a treat too.
I love Doc making his appearances! In the US, do you have Boxing Day? It’s a stat holiday here just like England. My daughter is coming home the 26th from England for one month. She got a seasonal job at Fortnum and Mason. She’d like to continue working there when she gets back, but would like a stage manager position in theatre if possible. She’s lodging with Kika Markham, so there may be some connections for her. Lol, I’m the same as you with singing and rhythm. My favourites are the original Driving Home for Christmas, Boney M’s Mary’s Boy Child, and the Boston Pops Sleigh Ride.
We sort of have Boxing Day? It's not an official holiday, but some employers and places recognize it. It's one I love myself, though I'll be back at work this year. (My job is generous with days off the rest of the year, so I can't complain.) I hope you have a wonderful visit with your daughter -- and that she brings lots of wonderful things from Fortnum and Mason to try! :D
My mom had an Avon Christmas tape she played every year. When I moved out I took it with me. Now I have all the songs on my iphone. I apparently can't move on music wise
I don’t listen to Christmas music much these days. I seem to prefer audiobooks for some reason. I love Mariah Carey’s song, though. Also from the 90’s - I like Jewel’s Christmas album and later on the She And Him album. I used to listen a lot in my car, but I work from home now, so there is no commute. I tend to like the older songs sung by newer artists, I think.
Audiobooks are wonderful, aren't they? I know how you feel about not getting as much done without a commute, though. My car doesn't have a CD player, and I have missed listening to audiobooks as I drive so much. (It's just not the same with a phone ...)
I think by now I shouldn't be surprised to find that we have very similar musical taste (smile). I had found your channel a couple of months ago, and I've really enjoyed your daily videos as a chance to get to know you a bit better. My high school choral director loved Handel's Messiah and i was lucky enough to have several excellent soloists in the choir at the same time that I was, so we sang different sections of it at our winter concert each year. It definitely doesn't seem like Christmas until I listen to it (and sing along lol). 🪡👠
I'm so glad you found the channel too! I've enjoyed getting to chat a bit in the comments each day and to learn the may things we have in common. Your high school choir experience sounds like a lot of fun!
Doc's a star...
He really is!

I only know a few Don Mclean songs -- and Vincent is one of my all time favorites -- but I will absolutely check out that album too. Thank you!

Hi Dawn! How fun to hear about your favorite band, and that you were able to share that with your daughter. ♥ See you tomorrow!

Blue Christmas by Elvis is a favorite of mine too! And always happy to discover another CCR fan. Thank you again for watching each day!

I don't think I've really moved on music-wise either. The classics are classics for a reason. :D
