Better if you can name the train (e.g. Ruhunu Kumari etc.), where it's heading, where it's coming from etc. rather than the name of the locomotive. Anyway great stuff. Keep it up. :)
I think it is a good thing they repair and keep running these old diesel locomotives as long as they cause too much loss to maintain them. There are electric locomotives in Colombo inner suburbs now I think, which is a very good. I think there should be a project to convert all the Colombo inner and suburban trains to electric and only regional ones should be maintained as diesel. I guess it's even possible the train lines like Colombo-Jaffan and Colomobo to South etc as electric if the government upgrade the infrastructure and locomotives. They should look into producing these electric locomotives locally. That would create lot of local industries. Setting up a part private-part public corporation to build and maintain railways, locomotives and carriages would be a good thing because that way all the money that end up going overseas will be saved.
when we have our own Engine? Then we can proud of our own railway. we have engineers, we have skill people , we have technology. why still not try our own? Inside and out side politics?
It requires investments. We will have to get foreign invest ments for that, but problem is the government is doing an absolute crap job. Investors do not like to invest in countries with unstable governments and high energy costs, high taxes etc etc.

Yes so true. Paints are fading away now. Only few locomotives haven been repainted as far as I know
