I've found the best investments really are the things you don't want to buy. So spend a lot on those to get high quality so you never have to buy them again! Things like light stands, hard transport cases, tripods...etc. They suck to buy but they are such high use items that if you buy cheap, they break and you just end up spending even more to constantly replace them.

Problem as you said: you have to have the depreciating assets like drones, gimbal, laptops. I see no solution but just to buy what you need. and not more

Best and smartest investment I made for my editing laptop is leasing it through Apple. If you have a business account, you can lease it for a few years and then exchange it after the lease is up. I'm always going to be up to date.
