Funny story that happened years ago as a junior tech going on my on service/maintenance by myself. Doing PM work for convenient store, thought I would take the extra step of washing this really impacted self contained drink reach in. Decided to blow it out not realizing the amount of dust and ended up clouding up the whole store before I knew it. good times learning hahaha
I did once braze up a leak like that for a customer that was closing their business in a months time. Cut the pipe off flush with the compressor, cleaned all the paint off and made the hole a bit bigger and silver soldered it, had a lot of wet rags on the compressor and nitrogen flowing to try and keep the heat away from the windings. Told them it was kill or cure and luckily it worked!
That coil brush is hammered...My brushes look just like it . But we just keep on using em till there down to the stub!!!!lol great job brother as always!!!
You da f🤘ckin man, thanks for always throwing out the coolest realist HVAC/R flicks on the tubes ❄️ 🔥 💧 takes a minute out in the real world to do the job right
I have repaired the suction line by cleaning it back a sleeving 1/2 copper over it and brazing to the compressor. Best option is to replace of course but at a pinch I have done it and last as copper won't rust out.
Thank you for this video. I agree with compressor replacement decision. The moisture, that this compressor has pooled in for a while, has already damaged the quality of the oil in the system, and it became acidic which is destructive to the compressor windings. Besides, the water vaporizer coil, "the condensate loop" in the condensate pan, was also heavily corroded, and sooner or later, it would have chewed a hole (in that coil). Therefore, both jobs can be done on the same time; easier to replace this coil with the compressor out of the way. Kind regards, Arpi
In the past when I tried to save money it always cost me double. Now I buy once cry once. You shelled out for the Sunjoe now you have to buy the first choice. It's always like this it seems. Trust me I have been bit by the same thinking too many times.
use same washer, broke this pipe too and installed flexible hose(clear braded) and connected with existing hose via reducer and burb connector. love this pump. battery last forever, ideal for minisplits undoors cleaning and reach in condensers cleaning.
Great job Dave when you got that pump sprayer l look up the reviews they had same problem that you have with sprayer.Look at Goodway CC-JR great compact sprayer $$$ it a great sprayer.
Came across those by the tons, I think now when you get a new one it’s built like a Copeland does it,at the suction port it’s copper now. As soon as you opened it up and seen the txt I thought it was the leaky danfoss compressor. Then you led me astray only to return to the compressor.🤣
Turbo air actually makes some decent walk in equipment. Their outdoor condensing units are not half bad . I came across some last year and was pleasantly surprised Their reach in stuff I’m still not a fan of
Hey Dave great video as usual, just a tip you need a small steam cleaner makes defrosting the evaporator much quicker and less water also great for cleaning the condenser, I’ve used one for 3 years now makes life much easier.
I actually had a similar leak on a reach in unit that's I used orange flux coated 46%(I think) silver brazing rod to get it sealed. Sanded and painted over the bare metal.
Back blowing the condenser coil....¡Flashing back to Jim Petinato crop dusting the mini-mart! You ever blow them out with a large wet towel draped in front of them instead of dealing with the soup?
I wonder how much more expensive it would be to manufacture if those compressors had a suction stub made from stainless? It's not just Danfoss, I've seen it on countless others. It doesn't help if the suction line is lagged right up to the compressor body, as the surface of that stub never gets a chance to dry out.
Hey Dave a Gallo gun could blow that drain out without hauling the N out. Good job ,want to see repairs. Ice machines can get real disgusting. I always cleaned mine really well. I used that ice in my drinks too !
Was thinking the same thing, have a couple of them, they aren't great for much but that little condensate drain was a perfect candidate instead of lugging the nitro tank.
yes those are very very common leaks for danfoss ... you can always use electrical tape LOL go full hack mode! those capsule units are so crap! if i had it my way i would of talked the client into scrapping that crap and install a normal coil get some sheet metal and styrofoam and close off the openings inside and ontop and condensing unit either indoor or if money allowed outdoors
man that condenser reminded me of these two weird glycol chillers a local brewery had... right by where they fill their grain. Just blowing them out with co2 it was like desert storm, I couldnt see 4 feet from me. In hindsight i prob should have hosed em out considering sloped floor with a drain woops!
Stop screwing around with those junk sprayers and get the coil jet cj125 Yes it’s pricey but you pay for what you get. Mines 7 years old. Only thing I’ve ever done to it is a new battery, and that’s cheap enough on Amazon.
i hate capsule packs....nothing but problems.... constant frozen coils and water leaks...especially that norlake garbage....turbo air is just as bad....typical danfoss compressors....the body rots out by the suction inlet...common problem on manitowoc undercounter machines
Txv will react to a changing load much quicker than a cap tube. Especially in a small box that will experience a lot of door openings and overloading of product during business hours
@@shine-cg9uf by no means expert, but I believe that all units without a receiver would be considered "critically charged" . Like Dave said in the video, need to weigh out to get a better diagnostic, and weigh back in exact amount of refrigerant to start fresh. At a low load condition, refrigerant will back up and fill more of the condenser with liquid. If repairs are made, say the condensate tubing loop that sits in drained water is replaced with a homemade one with fewer turns and less total length, the total charge may be slightly reduced. However, if while making that repair, the filter drier is replaced with a larger one, charge may need to be an ounce or three more, but still very near the stated factory amount.

Standard job for HD , you da man blud ! 👍
yessss! HD and uncle Dave are absolutely my favorite hvac/r TH-camrs
Why silver solder brudda ? Works better ?
Making giant messes, that I do not have to clean up, is one of my favorite things about refrigeration repair. Nice job.
That coil brush is hammered...My brushes look just like it . But we just keep on using em till there down to the stub!!!!lol great job brother as always!!!
Those Safari vans are perfect for service work. Nice job.
Never saw an anodized coil either. Thanks for the update on the Sunjoe.. POS... Got it.

That's funny when you said danfoss my first thought was leaking at the compressor connection.

🎶 back to the H-10…it never lets me down 🎶
Nice one Sir Davros 👍
I like the hand pump sprayer but my only beef is that they don't like hot water.
Good troubleshooting video!
Thanks for providing such excellent support to my favorite spot on earth. SARA LOVES YOU!
Multiple affender to the max .Great content Dave. Thanks.
Great video brother thanks!!👏👍
Nice find Dave, hope you video the repair too.
Awesome job 👍👍👍
I am guessing Buena Vista landfill will get a new yellow box shaped addition soon.
Great job Dave when you got that pump sprayer l look up the reviews they had same problem that you have with sprayer.Look at Goodway CC-JR great compact sprayer $$$ it a great sprayer.
Been missing some of your videos...apologize for that.....been a hot and busy summer here in Austin....catching up on videos I've missed
Thanks for watching
Get a little handheld steamer. Melts the ice really quickly, and has the benefit of not adding much in the way of water.
Thanks for a great video super tech lol 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for everything Dave has learned so much from the videos .
Thank you for watching

I see you're back to work I hope you had fun and Sturgis
Ya the Larry the Cable Guy cos play. 😂😂😂✨
Excellent repair video! I'm diggin' that anodized coil, never seen one before.
Good find

Their reach in stuff I’m still not a fan of
Outdoor units look like re-badged Heatcraft. Almost identical.
its cause the insulation is all the way up to the compressor. I always cut it before the compressor so it doesnt rust. same with the rotor locks.
Hey Dave great video as usual, just a tip you need a small steam cleaner makes defrosting the evaporator much quicker and less water also great for cleaning the condenser, I’ve used one for 3 years now makes life much easier.
Just looked up so,e and added to my Amazon list. Great tip and can’t wait to test it out to see if it is more convenient! 👏🏽
I actually had a similar leak on a reach in unit that's I used orange flux coated 46%(I think) silver brazing rod to get it sealed. Sanded and painted over the bare metal.
Orange is 56% silver....blue rod is 45%
Vinyl hose on the drain fitting and run it down the side of the box. I usually do that into a garbage can so that I can dump it out.
Dave dave is no brazing on that one
New compressor no question ask🤣🤣
Good little vid ... Thx ...
Dave you need to get the porta blaster!!!!!!! It’s a pain in the ass to set up but I have used very hot water and have had so much success!
Heck yah Dave, good one.
Back blowing the condenser coil....¡Flashing back to Jim Petinato crop dusting the mini-mart!
You ever blow them out with a large wet towel draped in front of them instead of dealing with the soup?
Yes
they all have the same controller problems, not enough defrost on those and sometimes fan running only with compressor
I wonder how much more expensive it would be to manufacture if those compressors had a suction stub made from stainless? It's not just Danfoss, I've seen it on countless others. It doesn't help if the suction line is lagged right up to the compressor body, as the surface of that stub never gets a chance to dry out.
Nice Video, Thks, for sharing, my thouts,f*** that condensate loop, new compressor, done.
Great job Dave super tech
I like that leak detector! What’s the funky intro beat?

So tell us, how do REALLY feel about the Sunjoe?
😂😂😂😂😂
Hi bro from west Alabama peace and love
Dave I need a sunjoe
Just thinking has anyone tried repairing a leak like that with orange rod?
Another block of ice.😢
How do you like that Uni-T clamp meter? Has it held up? Pretty accurate?
Dave is the only SuperTech in California. Jn.316
Moe told me you can JB weld that suction line and Hack agreed.
PVC glue I used stay tuned
I do not like those evap boxes mounted on top of the walk-ins.
Good call on the sun joe , it’s trash
👍💪❄️🇺🇸 Great vid
Sir, it would be great if all of us who are dealing with air conditioning online all over the world can come together in some way.
man that condenser reminded me of these two weird glycol chillers a local brewery had... right by where they fill their grain. Just blowing them out with co2 it was like desert storm, I couldnt see 4 feet from me. In hindsight i prob should have hosed em out considering sloped floor with a drain woops!
No more ice for me
Wow I just ordered the SunJoe because you used it
This sucks
Just take care of it. I’m a bull in a China shop
That was a fixable leak
oh no SunJoe bad review!!!😁
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
epoxy the fitting on
Be an epic next video if they let you do it $$&&
Oops never the end
Stop screwing around with those junk sprayers and get the coil jet cj125
Yes it’s pricey but you pay for what you get. Mines 7 years old. Only thing I’ve ever done to it is a new battery, and that’s cheap enough on Amazon.
Was gifted one of those to my side job Bob home address, but haven't broken it or out had opportunity to use it.
Rinse kit sent me the pro it’s killer
Mister head would be better if they make one...
😎

🏅✌💪💪💪
A Hammer and a chisel would of gotten that ice off a-lot quicker
Jk
Just did a evap coil change out
because of a customer like that
That was a fi
Duct tape!!!
click, click, click
Plugo
438 thumbs up
👍🥲❄️🇺🇸 ? 4 u. It’s a critical charge unit with no sight glass no receiver why do they instal txv ?
Because its more efficient than a cap tube.
@@davejohnsonnola1536 thanks appreciate your feedback 🙏

@@davejohnsonnola1536 great information. I was thinking u needed a liquid receiver with a txv in refrigeration. Thanks again 🇺🇸💪❄👍
