Iga is like my all time favorite tennis player since I saw her playing in RG 2020 for the first time. There are many great great tennis players but I've never seen anyone all around excellence like Iga. She's super talented, passionate, daring but humble, kind-hearted, respectful and last but not least purely innocent, cute and simple unlike other players, both young and experienced. I really hope she could maintain this amazing and unique spirit for years to become one of the greatest. Tennis, sports and the world need these few incredible people like her.🥰👏👏👏
Beautiful words about Iga. That's why many people here in Poland love, admire and respect her. Mainly because of her character, nature, not because of her wins.

That forehand that she pulls off, from the wrist, is insane!
It’s so called western grip, very rarely used, you start swing racket pointing backwards and swing goes all the way that the racket faces backwards at the end of it. It still more bigger weapon on the clay, where the next tournaments with the top players are. Stuttgart starting 18th and after that Madrid which is WTA1000. She told after Miami in the one interview that it will be “more fun”…..? 😂😂😂
Iga's defense and transition into sudden counter-attacks are simply astounding. Many opponent's shots would be winners in normal conditions, but Iga was able to reach them and re-direct them, thanks to superior movement and agility.
Perfect nr 1 to take AB place!....she speaks lovely.....well mannered on and off the court....never performs on court.....and plays her game to the best of her ability!...i love watching her play!....she will be winning many many more great games in her young career!...
I know that Nadal was main inspiration for her, but she's got Djokovic's game... powerful, precise shots; acrobatic defence. She's up high and there to stay!
Definitely deserved World No.1, her performance is amazing this year so far! Find the perfect balance between offense and defense, let's go, Iga!!! Keep winning more 🏆🏆🏆
Iga always had this offensive game in her , which wasn't a surprise really. One heartening thing that happened in this winning streak was how defensively strong she has become and she had won a lot of points which she is not supposed to win. Mark of a champion player. Beginning of something special for a long time. Come on Iga. Bravo👍🏾👍🏾
Iga is getting stronger and stronger with each match and her defensive skills are simply insane. The only moment she's shown some signs of being tired was 2nd set with Pegula.
Iga fills the gap that arose after Barty left. And she does it really well. Soon no one will remember about the Australian star, except maybe her countrymen. Iga is just her worthy successor.
I will remember Ash Barty because of her exceptional technique and intelligence on court. I think Iga has still some aspects in her game to develop comparing with Ash Barty. I am not Australian, I am Polish.
@@kingaorlikowska6426 we will forget Barty the same way we have forgotten Justine Hanin who spend 117 weeks as number 1 and by the way also retired at 25.
Ash will never be forgotten as the one-of-a-kind, crafty rare talent she is and that today's WTA has lacked since Graf, Henin et al. She brought legitimacy to the WTA and separated herself from the one-dimensional cookie cutter ball bashers that have taken over this supposedly beautiful sport. 🇨🇦
Iga has a forehand reminiscent of Daniil Medvedev, the racquet gives more effect with a very flexible wrist. While for her placements she plays like a cat, the lower body is always one step ahead; She plays like a cat with the ball. It's "cat woman" tennis version. However, what is nice is that she tries to shorten the suffering of her opponents by reducing the exchanges as soon as the ball is high.
Jeez, it's been like watching a female Djokovic, watching Iga the last few weeks. Exceptional defence-to-offence and unbelievable court coverage, with an ability to slide on a hard court...very much like Novak. In recent weeks, Iga defeated the best hard court player of recent years in Osaka, took out grand slam champions in Osaka, Kvitova and Halep, registered 17 consecutive wins and 3 consecutive WTA 1000 titles, reached world num.1...and she hasn't even played this year on her favourite surface of clay yet!! If she's been this good on hard, it's a scary prospect facing her on clay.
yep even the same body pattern, and body position in defence as Novak i wonder if her coach let her to study Novak, i don't think she was that similar to him last year
Incredible win by Swiatek. Not to take anything away from the victory, but Osaka seemed to have lost her quickness, explosiveness. I remember how she could hit crosscourt on the run deep in the court or angled. Had Osaka's form of yesteryear was on full display, the score would've been closer. It would've been a toss-up.
It was a weird couple of matches...against Golubic where both players wore almost identical outfits, every time I came back to a screen it took me a while to work out who is who. Then Brengle didn't even dress up for the occasion, she just came up in leggings and a t-shirt like it's a practice session. Which it was, she was a good sparring partner for Iga. The last game before the final got me worried and hats off to Pegula, she was a worthy opponent. Then it was the final, second set, 2-0 40-15 when I realized - holy sh*t! She's going for it, she will bagle Osaka in the final 😲 And she did.
Against Pegula she had 2 earlier match points. Had it been 6:4 we wouldn't have this conversation. Won't say I was happy with the break but those moments will come handy and make you stronger mentally.
In normal circumstances (no injury, no physical fatigue or health issues taking place): very risky game the way Collins demonstrated against (fatigued) Iga: to jump on her serves relentlessly and uber-aggressively and finish the ball in quick and fast 1-2 punches (Iga needs a bit more time/space to execute her forehand so fast balls are not easy for her). And back it up with consistent hard, well placed serving (high % of the first serves). Similar approach demonstrated Ostapenko however Iga should've won their last match, she let it loose and lost her break in the final set. She made a couple of tactical mistakes there (she played too many medium power balls to the center of the court towards Ostapenko + too many second serves & a bit too many UE).
As you saw in the final, the aces melted away, when it’s about the return rate and overall athleticism of Iga. Balls must be long enough, but as you saw she turned many times from hopeless defence position into aggressive attack and winner. She is mentally so strong now at her age that it’s hard to win her. Collins and Barbosa are the ones who are the real threats. Hopefully Collins injury is not serious one. Gauff, even being younger one, has still long way to be such athlete as Iga at the moment. Her height is also ideal, but extremely fast. Technique has always been there.
petra kvitova could have win over iga if she had stayed at the net relentlessly whole match...and no ue`s and df`s. but she can`t turn back time 6 or 7 years when she won wimbledon...
@@midnight_dancerXXX Wherever the next tournament is we will definitely see many more encounters between Iga with both the two players Collins and Ostapenko. ... so we'll be able to see how it turns out this time. Previously Sakkari managed to beat the continuous Iga 3 times. Even so starting in the Qatar open and then in the indian wells Iga managed to beat sakkari easily. Iga is a player with extraordinary talent, aided by his competent new coach I believe all obstacles can be overcome brilliantly and wisely.
Shaky serve, especially the first one. Best example is probably the final. In first set 1st serve IN: 39%, in 2nd set: 77%. Iga is working on it, so we have to be patient, because serve improvement doesn't come fast.
@@ArthurDiegoMcDermottUK look % her 2nd is good enough for 1st serve to be weaker, however if she will improve in 1st (which she surely will just a matter of time) she will be unstoppable
It's hard not to see Nadal's influence on Iga's game. She doesn't mind running corner to corner to save the point. She prefers winning points early but if the opponent is forcing a lengthy exchange Iga's willing to wait patiently for the opening to end it. She doesn't necessarily have a preference for her winners as far as angles. Her unpredictability is becoming a huge factor. She is so quick with her wrists that guessing where she'll place her shot is a challenge in itself.
Injury is always a possibility, like Rafa had to recover if I remember almost two seasons….but he came back. So that’s why also Iga’s staff is slowly training for her strength, and using “ice recovery” - criotherapy to regenerate after matches. But like she said now in one interviews after win at Miami, it will be for her much easier to play on the clay.
@@AnTran-mr6wj Nothing is impossible in this life. Although it is a bit difficult to achieve. In order to realize all her dreams, some weaknesses need to be fixed ... especially the first service. If her 1st serve was as great as Barty or Naomi... i believe all hopes and dreams to be the greatest will probably come true.
I hope she continues to develop her game a powerful first serve and it’s over and maybe a backhand slice. For her defensive skills and topspin shots are already too much to handle
I know she wins and has a very good game, but I don't like watching her play. She's a good case study of how to play if you want to be a winner, but I don't find it appealing to the eye.

2:13 amazing rally vs Brengle
