I understand Faith and Grace in this way. "For by *_Grace_* are ye saved *_Through Faith_* ..." God provides all we need for salvation. _That_ is the *_Grace_* part. The *_Faith_* part is what we provide in the Grace that God gives. This seems so simple. Every step of our salvation - imputed faith and the power of living a holy life. BOTH are the Grace of God. The Grace of God is that he Loves us, he imputes righteousness to us when we believe. This gives us a starting point and the confidence that we are His. That is His awesome Grace. We accept it by faith. But then, he also provides even further Grace by giving us the power to be "Overcomers". That is the sanctifying part (More Grace) that he gives so that we can live for Him and be holy people. We just accept, by faith and surrender - or submit by faith - and Gods Grace completes from beginning to end, our salvation.
May we anchor our souls in the Haven of Rest. Anchored in Christ Jesus our Lord and Saviour. As a consequence, we may be inspired unto good works; ... Christ Jesus doing the work in, and through us; and we bearing Fruits of Righteousness unto Salvation, Accepting Salvation of Him, by His grace through Faith. ... Yep 👍 Jesus died to save our lives from total condemnation, and total Annihilation. I know in my life I’m just not happy when I’m doing wrong in the eyes of God, when I am going against His 10 commandment law. The truth makes us free because the Lord gives us power through His Spirit to keep His word: His Word is life, His Word is light because He is the Word: so there is no other way that brings peace, total peace, to the inner being. As we get closer to Jesus we want more and more to understand what is His perfect will for our lives, and we want to follow that way: we love Him because He first loved us. There’s no joy in disobedience toward our Saviour. As Jesus always did His Father’s will, so must those of us who will enter into His rest and His kingdom to come. 😉😊 I desire to be all in! I must surrender all!
Thank you for doing the book of Hebrews. We are studying Hebrews in my Sabbath School class. Currently we are in chapter 7, but we do not get a whole chapter done every week! But I am enjoying listening here and comparing to the conclusions we have drawn in the class. Would it be correct to look at the phrase in the KJV, "if they shall enter my rest" as elliptical? I read in some commentaries that that was a common Hebrew way of expressing. If so, then this phrase could be, "If *they believe* they shall enter my rest." In the end, the meaning is the same, since they did not believe, and therefore did not enter into His rest.
This is not a new post, but Walter suddenly I wanted to know why the spirit and the soul---which in Seventh-day Adventist English are the same thing...why divide them? What are those two words in the language they were written in?
So the thief on the cross was justified. He could not have been sanctified because of time. Yet, we who have many days ahead of us, even if just one, in order to be sanctified. We must be growing every day, picking up our cross, and carrying it into the world. I hope this is correct.
I'm enjoying this study, but you passed over a potentially confusing point in silence, that is, verse 8. Unless you understand that Jesus here means Joshua, the verse makes no sense. You really ought to have mentioned this. God bless.
Is really the actual interpretation of chapter 4 after studying in its actual context? Wat is the purpose of a covenant if we hang on to the old. Romans 8,1-2 . Wat is the law of sin and death? Wasn't Sabbath keeping part of that law? Why do u prooftext scripture to satisfy wat u believe, it's not right for the people who sit and or preach a gospel that is contrary to wat it actually says.
