Till the 90's Indian serial are good & educational even some early 2000's serial are good & entertaining.
But after the Ekta kapoor takeover of Indian tv the quality decreased significantly but rural people likes these super dramatic serials.
Why blaming rural people star plus launched on cable TV &tata sky mostly can't afford
Still today it's not free for rural audience

It was so hilarios 😂😂😂 Ekta kapoor has started this trend . Besirper ke serials . Best serials were shown on doordarshan in late 80s based on books. Bharat ek khoj , Tamas , Nirmala, karamchand chandargupt Mourya were some best serials and offcourse Ramayan and Mahabharat.

Right now india drama has been replaced by web series. And plz watch gullak on Sony LIV and panchayat in prime. They are GOAT. Drama are cater towards house wife and just for entertainment and as population of india is so huge, they get audience but there are great dramas also like Tarak Mehta, sarabhai, chanakya, Mahabharata, Ramayan etc but right now platform for good drama has become ott and you tube

Take 'Malgudi Days', Tamas', Karamchand', 'Rajni', 'Uddan'', Nukkad, Circus', 'Fauji', 'Shanti', 'Reporter' Swabhimaan' and Ulta Pulta', Jaspal Bhati Show, 'Office Office', 'Dekh Bhai Dekh, 'Tu Tu Mai Mai', in comedy and satire genre. Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Productions killed creativity - Now with available of content on OTT platform, no sensible mind in India watches these non-sense shows. On that note; I find the content of many Pakistani dramas genuine, apt and contemporary.

Baaki Indian serials used to be excellent in 90s and in early 2000s baaki abhi toh aisa lgta hai ki Producers k ghar bathroom nhi hai isiliye Wo TV pe hagte hai 😑.

Pakistani dramas r so creative and innovative. India has good tv dramas which was telecasted on doordarshan in 80s and 90s era e.g.malgudi days, byomkesh bakshi, circus, fauzi, phir wohi talash, farmaan,Vikram aur betaal, ramayana, Mahabharata, neem ka ped, dekh bhai dekh, kashish, karamchand, om namah shivaay and last but not least buniyaad which was based on partition and after life.these are classic serial with close to reality. You can check and watch it out.

Nowadays the trend has become about running a serial for long periods of time than actually giving a good show to watch.. While the 90s, shows were weeklies where the creatives had atleast one week to produce a throughly researched and detailed episode.
