Flesh and Blood is a good example of a stamina game. I only really notice it end with the winner having just 1 lp left.

in every game i go for stamina over health with the mentality of "well health and defense don't matter if i don't get hit" xD works well when it works lol

Lol true XD. As said in the video, that's kind of how it is in a lot of games. Even if you DO get hit, unless there's a feedback to that hit which makes it harder to play, the stamina is always going to be better than however much health you have.

Great video! Despite playing card and other sorts of games for a long time, I’ve never thought of the comparison between stamina and deck size. As a Magic player, various Mill decks that try to remove your deck to win have always been a part of the game, and I never really thought about the adjacency to removing life. One of the reasons is that add a mill deck goes, a player’s graveyard gets filled up, which can often be used as a resource and is one of the failings of mill decks. Are there any analogies to graveyards and re-using spent resources in the other games you play?

Thanks! We have the same concept in yugioh - not necessarily mill decks, but many decks try to send specific cards to the Graveyard as they have effects while there, or other cards can return them. Decks that can do that consistently and effectively have a higher stamina since their GY acts as more of a second deck, but once those GY resources are dealt with or used up, in tandem with running out of useful cards in deck and on field/in hand, stamina is depleted. The worth of those GY resources is also important - for example, having the ability to revive a monster, but being locked out of doing so by an opponent's card. All the GY recursion in the world won't make a difference if it can't deal with the cards that are actually affecting you. Stamina is kind of flexible in this way, depending on the matchup your real stamina may be much lower if you dont have many effective ways to deal with an opponent's strategy.

How might we make HP Value 0 itself matter more some? Not even HP in general, just the lack of having any left being more important?

The chilean TCG Mitos y Leyendas works exactly like the bakugan game. Your castle (deck) is also your health, and each time you receive damage, you discard cards. You lose if you run out of cards, of course.

So, what happens if we try and make a game without health?
