Refreshingly new phrasing that brings out the romantic harmonies of the piece. Brahms would have loved it!!

I could listen to this Intermezzo so many times without getting bored, seems hypnotic to me. When you feel that every note is the natural way to the next one with a quiet evidence, looks like magic! Thank you so much for this Kathia Buniatishvili.

I love the milder tempo, and how you still manage to keep a rhythmic flow while balancing the subtle nuances of the rubato. Very expressive.

"A man as he stands with the bleak, gusty autumn winds eddying round him" is how Niemann describes this piece, according to Wikipedia. They also say that the "Intermezzi were described by the critic Eduard Hanslick as "monologues"... pieces of a "thoroughly personal and subjective character" striking a "pensive, graceful, dreamy, resigned, and elegiac note." Khatia's performance seems to bring this all out nicely! She takes her time as she plays and really brings this music to life. Following along the score, I could see her fastidious attention to detail, and thorough preparation coming into play as she gently weaves this tale. She makes me think this piece should be played more and heard more than it is. The closer you look at this music, the more wonderful things you see there! Brava, Miss Buniatishvili, and thank you!
