Milwaukee Battery Charger Hissing & Flashing red and green. Hissing sound normal?

- I tested 2 other identical chargers and they also made the same sound. I can’t say if that means they are all good or bad, but that’s 3 out of 3. It seems okay, but use your best judgment

This was very helpful- I definitely thought something was wrong with the charger.
I left my drill sitting while I went to eat, then saw it was never charging 😭😂 thanks for the video mate!
This helped me. I didn't know I had to push the battery down so hard.
Same
Same😂
Me too. Just clicked it in right now
Lads I'm after been goin mad till I seen this it works now
Exactly! I’m like I know they didn’t send me a charger that doesn’t fit the battery’s
Thank you for this, I just bought a drill that came with this charger and I could not figure out why the battery was not charging to full. I was not seating the battery enough to "click" (felt like I was going to break something) but after watching this I know what to expect now and got it working properly. Thanks very much.
Thanks! I just got mine, M18 gen 3 drill for a home DIY project, and I didn’t know I had to slide down hard the battery into the charger! I love you man ❤
Thanks for making the video! Guess you really have to push it in there. Let it blink red and green for an hour and was wondering why is was still dead
Finally a video that helped me! I looked everywhere. But finally got my solid red light instead of the flashing lights!
This is why im here because of that hissing sound during charging😂
Duuuuuuddde! I had the same issue and I have been trying to correct it for a while. Finding, or trying to find, an answer was like pulling teeth. THANK U.
The hissing you hear is caused by the high frequency switching circuit. Not an issue
Danga I just send back a 12.0 ,I thought battery can’t get charged, after seen this video I’m regret, now is workin fine thanks bro👍💪🏼🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I bought two of the $99 compact drill kits.
The first I got the battery fault lights. I couldn’t get mine to lock in like my other Milwaukee kits. I pushed pretty damn hard and never would lock in. So I returned it as a defect.
The second shows up and same thing. Only this time I also had a broken trigger and the charger was doing this hissing. I was pretty damn mad and returned it too as a defect and gave up.
Both would not let the battery lock in even though I shoved down hard and this is not my only Milwaukee tool. I have something like 7 other M tools at work and have never had an issue like this or the hissing till now.
Not going to lie I was seriously worried about that hissing. Thanks for clearing it up.
Yeah, I tested a total of 3 kits and they all did the same, so I’m thinking it’s normal
strange because only one of my batteries causes this hissing.......hmm
Thanks!! I thought mine was defected. Works great.
Just bought mine, and was wondering why it wasn't charging. Mine makes the hissing noise as well
You have to hold it whit a little pressure for a few seconds then realest and it will start charging, i return couple batteries because I thought they were bad but its just the small battery terminals that are a bit tin on older batteries
Hi may battery didn't work flash red and green may battery is fully seated
I thought I heard mine making a growling sound, but it turns out I was just hungry.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks same thing happened with me and I pushed the battery pack down and was like “No wayyyy!”
Thank you!!! I didn't have the battery seated well enough because I'm trying to be careful. I saw all these hacks about charging an old battery with a decent one using razor blades as a connection, great but I only have one battery 😅
Thanks for your help
Ha ha. I kept thinking “Damn! These Milwaukee batteries suck!!!”
ENG: Greetings! I have an M12 charger and battery and it also makes that sound, the battery charges and works normally.
ESP: Saludos! Yo tengo un cargador y batería M12 y también hace ese sonido, la batería carga y funciona normalmente.
Thank you.
i didnt know you have to push the battery in like tha
i was just sliding it in and wondered why its only in there so loose
I have a brand new M12/M18 charger, model 48-59-1812, that seems to charger the batteries OK, but the area above the port for the M18 gets so hot that you can smell melting plastic. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, was there a way to correct it other than sending it to Milwaukee for evaluation?
Id have them send a new one. It’s not worth a fire
Kaercher charger does same hissing sound while charging too. I think its normal
That hissing sound is fan-cooler you get that on rapid chargers. Dont worry bro about sound i got two new batterys that indicates as a broken...
I was afraid the dang thing was going to explode. Mine starts hissing at two bars?
Battery issue. The Fix is Place a Jumper from bad battery to a good charged battery.
Pos + to Pos + and Neg - to Neg- terminals wait for about 15 minuets for battery to equalize.
problem solved. both batteries are ready for work or charge to full
I did that and the battery overheated. I would not recommend it
That was a big help ! Thanks
Danny I think the hissing is normal mine does it to and I've never had any problems with it
I tested 2 other units and they also did the same thing. I believe you are right. The hissing began shortly after placing the battery on the charger and stopped right before the green light came on, so it must be part of the charging
Every one I've had made the same sound
I'm trying to charge 2 batteries at once.
One is red & the other flashing red only.
Can I leave it this way & to both eventually charge?
I didnt have it pushed all the way in!
Thank you
Are you open to doing product review on auto LEDs?
Legend. Thank you 🤟
I have the same charger and batteries and I’ve never noticed any kind of sound associated with the charging process. However, I should also mention that my wife tell’s me I can’t hear half the stuff that goes on around me, so I don’t know if I’m the best point of reference for this issue…..😂
You’ll have to see if it hisses next time. I noticed this one stopped hissing right before it went green, then the next battery I plugged in was quiet, but a few seconds later the hissing came on.
I’ve had two chargers not do it while one did so I’m not sure what it is or why. It sounds like a vacuum leak on a car or air hissing.
Me, knowing nothing.
I thank you very much .
Hey brother I have a 97 4.6 5 speed gt and for about two weeks when I would start it and take off it would sound like it was running on 6 cylinders and then when it warmed up it would straighten out and about a week ago I was doing 80/90 mph on the interstate and it just all of a sudden fell on its face and had no power. When I start it it’ll sound ok for about a min and then it’s back to the same sht again. Any suggestions? I’ve replaced
Fuel filter
TPS
CPS
Injectors
Plugs
Hasn’t helped it even a little bit.
I would look at front 02 sensors and clean the MAF

@@dannyjohnsonsgarage the MAF I just replaced. I forgot to mention it in the first comment but yeah I replaced it.
Hi, same problem, light flashing and same hissing sound. It is not a battery problem. Found a solution? Thank you
I opened 3 different kits and they all did the same thing. I’m convinced it’s normal
So when it’s charging the light is red is that correct
Yes, and when it’s done it turns green. If it’s flashing red and green it senses a problem
Thanks mate good stuff 👍🏻
My brand new Rapid charger blinks red/green as soon as I plugged in it, with zero battery on it... 🤷♂️
I’m not impressed with their chargers
Hear the hissing sound
got today, hiss seems standard.
I tried 3 new units and they all did it
Milwaukee customer service SUCKS!!
Brianna was on her period!
They didn’t help me much either
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage
Haha I had a sense in your voice that your customer service experience wasn't all that great as well.
I purchased a new m18 fuel kit today, one battery works the other is dead with the red/green flash.
I've seen that if the battery is totally dead, the charger will not recognize it.
So you need to "jump" the battery from a good battery to the dead battery. A common issue with totally dead lithium ion batteries.
@@rvz77 I tired jumping one once and the battery got really hot. I’d avoid doing it personally
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage i tried for 30 seconds.
Ithe wire got a little warm, but it was enough to get dead battery recognized by the charger.
Does yours get very hot?
It does get warm.
I am on my 3rd pack I've come to the conclusion that Milwaukee is trash
Thanks so much it worked
Bruh that’s so annoying that you basically just have to deal with the whistling sound. Milwaukee is all brand name now a days 🥲
I have milwaukee and it is shit i regret it so much
I haven’t been impressed with the battery charger. The rest seems pretty similar to Dewalt
@dannyjohnsonsgarage ive had a lots if items break down in warrenty time but im not a 100% builder but if i was and using these all the time be a lot worse to be honest, ive stopped buying it all now im changing it all over on each item.
