The part that screws into the carcass should have the arrow facing out towards the door.

have the same close mechanism. It fell off so I followed your directions and put it back on. What is the reason the door does not soft close?

Could be the soft close is not on your hinge, or there is a way to turn it off I think. A way to deactivate. Maybe go to Blum website for more info.
