I love that you are driving part of a John Green book through an element of a John Green book. I don't know if you follow John on social media but pieces of your current unfolding could totally be a 📚. Thanks Tory. We appreciate you for the realness and the fun.
Love watching you’re video’s you asked what we would like to see and it’s like evrything it’s so intresting I’m from Europe and when I see the real videos from somewhere else evrything I see I like it’s so different and with the explanation and evrything you do its very good just keep up the great work that you’re already doing love it
I follow other van lifers and overlanders, but you are the first to broach the idea of paper towns. Go with it! Good luck with your travels. Be careful of the weather. We have been having some nasty storms slam CA and then make their way across the country. Looking forward to your future videos.
❤ it. The best is that you’re sharing this as a raw experience; I had thought you were a very seasoned traveler because you could find urban places to stay(I’m new to your channel). I’m also interested in hearing the cost of … EVERYTHING. Everything has become twice as expensive since two years ago and what was a cheap way to live has now become out of reach for the very same people who kind of needed it most. So, cost is fascinating. Good luck with cooking and staying warm. I’m looking forward to seeing more.
I love that you tied this to a book, nice storytelling! I also love how you took us through finding your camp spot, so keep doing that, please. Looking forward to more... 😍
Hi Tory, I’ve just found you ! Don’t feel embarrassed about a roof leak under the solar panels, we set up our new caravan here in Australia a few years ago and you’ve guessed it ,week two on the road the storms came and right over the bed the rain came in, 🥵 What a disaster. We live and learn. Keep smiling xx
Also, I had mentioned this on another vid of yours and it sounds like you are staying away from cities, but an unexpected surprise city I spent some time in was Richmond, VA. The roaring river that flows through the main part of the City is so beautiful! And the apocolyptic feel of Bell Isle, the stores in Carytown. I just found it a very special underrated city and I'd love to see you visit there (and this is coming from someone who lives in NYC -- so it's always strange to me that Richmond left such an impression on me).
I absolutely love that book, I’ve read it so many times. I had forgotten about it after awhile, so thank you for reminding me. Hopefully one day I’ll get a van and name it something like that :) And haha the Chris Farley reference.
That ending.. exactly how I felt getting away from the city and into nature. Hope we can cross paths on your journey. I'm out in Pacifica, CA (coast just outside SF) for now. Also totally feel you on having so many bad things happen.. "am I really complaining too much or is it justified?" 😅
You have an incredible sense of "joie de vivre "❣️. We do all exist beyond what is on the surface, when will everyone open their eyes? Do you plan to write a book?
Incredible opportunity and beautiful views from day 1 of ur new van life journey. Hated to see u had a leak n ur roof. I like were u parked and hiw roughed it out n the wilderness and not at a Walmart parking lot. I hope u stay safe and warm up north. God bless and keep on keeping on
Its great seeing these Little American Towns. It looks perfect there. At least your honest about the house. But i know your always travelling so you are still living in a van. I Love your videos I Love you 🌆 🏙 🌹
Why don't you go to an outdoor car wash with the One with Quarter Slots On the wall The Ceiling is sealed no one's gonna use the car wash when it's raining so you should be good Fixing it there🤷♀️
You are a very relatable person, I wasn't sure if I'd like your videos or not...But leaning towards liking at this point....Cheers from Canada stay safe out there.
Tory try and get some water proff silicone for the screws . Get the kind they use to put a metal roof on a house . That's what we used when we put the metal roof on my home. Also on this 8th anniversary of the passing of Leonard Nimoy just remember wisdom begins with logic . It is logical to see people as they are and not what you want them to be . Safe travel.
You need to get butyl urethane, the stuff that is used for auto windshield. It will last a long time. I have never seen a properly installed window leak.
You’ll wear your ignition cylinder out prematurely with the additional weight of the huge key ring. Just trying to save you a bit of trouble down the road. Best wishes.
Awesome work! I really like the new custom intros, Tory. I disagree with the "complaining a lot" comment. Two items for thought: 1) Perseption Bias (a form of Unconscious Bias) can be identified when people use strong words like “all,” “always,” and “never” to describe a person's action or situation. I don't see you "always" complaining in your videos. You have a keen eye for improvement, so you naturally identify things that could be improved, avoided, or refined. 2) A "complaint" is stating a problem without bothering (or avoiding) to propose a solution. Definitely not you. Like above, you tend to describe an issue and then provide one or more ways to resolve (or at least mitigate) the difficulty. The loud heater is a great example. You have the resource, but a good reason to not always use it at night. But you don't complain about it... you turn yourself into a cozy burrito to resolve the problem! Take care, Tory!
They made the book into a movie in 2015. Mat Wolff and Cara Delevingne play the main characters. They say the movie is never as good as the book, but I think you’ll like it. I watched it with my daughter when she stayed with me up north. I feel in this life we all have a bit of Margo’s free spirit urging us to disappear into the world. Godspeed on your journey! If you make it to California let me know, I’ll buy you lunch. ✌🏽❤️
They actually make a crimp nut that you have to have a special tool to install which would have been good to have done it that way but since you didn't at this point I would take and mask off about a quarter of an inch away from the bracket on the roof with masking tape and then I would get some clear silicone in a small tube and make sure that it's dry and clean and then put a nice neat little bead all the way around that bracket and then David just a little bit on each one of the screws installing something like that should have a gasket or at least put some clear silicone between the bracket and the van roof which I would not take the bolts loose cuz if you take them loose they will eventually strip out I think just a nice neat little bead of clear silicone will solve the problem
Calculate the cost per mile for gas and then add in any maintenance/repair items. So you go 250 miles and burned 20 gallons of gas at $3.50 a gallon so that is $70 divided by 250 miles or $0.28 per mile. Miles per gallon is good, too as a game. Look up ways about the"hyper miling". Some engine oil additives helps does keeping tires over inflated by 5-10 psi. You do have a tire gauge in your Mechanic's bag, yes?
And also a very nice day to work on the van ?? And also you will Love 💕💕 the Country Life instead of the Hustle and Bustle of the City and you will Truly Enjoy It and I live in the country but Too close to the the Gravel Road now and want a House with a very long Driveway to escape and Truly Enjoy the Off Grid but the Bill's are too much to even get a chance to Enjoy Or even try, but I do get to enjoy it with you and your Videos Thanks 🙏👍❤️ Tory ❤️ Enjoy Rural America it's AMAZING........ ❤️
you mentioned in one of your shorts that you used to work a regular 9-5 in whatever city you were staying in. is that common among van life people? I don't think I've ever heard another van life person talk about having done that.
When Nebraska was being mapped a town was misspelled on the map. The map maker put NORFOLK on the map. The actual name was NORTHFORK. So they went and changed the original name of the town to be the same name as was on the map.
Love all the ideas for "van-life" competitive sports (ha!) - dish washing, most inconvenient stealth camping= Olympics. You funny, but maybe that's something.
I'm actually newly fascinated by this lifestyle and especially your take on it. Cam you include video production tutorials? You're obviously well versed on that as well . . . It's a huge component of successfully being on your own, no?
No you don't complain a lot, that person is just a negative Nancy. You have the right to express how you feel and honestly you are very positive despite your life falling apart ;) LMFAO, I like how you always use your pot as a bowl :) The way you walk at the edge of the bridge is something I do, risky :D
Beautiful honey. How come some pictures of your driving from the left side then the other picture shows steering wheel on the right like the time of the driving and when you put shade on the front window.
Ахренеть, проехать 8000км на авто, которое ты сама обустроила, и в котором живешь! Тори ты чудо! Твой опыт очень вдохновляющий! Надеюсь, ты найдешь, что ищешь!
I’m not sure about that, I’m pretty new to this lifestyle 😌😉 I’m spoiled with a 40 gallon water tank and I don’t have to monitor water consumption as much as you.
@@hawl20 lol Touchè, but I am very spoiled as a city girl & am for the first time learning the ropes of true off grid living 😅 Like when I live at Planet Fitness I can fill up my water anytime with no worries…. but this week at the river 😬😬😬 No bueno mi amigo… no bueno…. 😂
This entire winter I’ve been near water sources like that too, which is so nice! Worst part is laying in bed knowing we are out of water and have to drive a few yards next to the Spicket and “have to” get out of bed to refill our tanks/ jugs. 🤣 I wonder if there is a 12v water pump vanlifers use to fill up from creeks or rivers. One that pumps and filters as it fills your tank. 🤔💭
Why do people feel the need to travel away from comfort and stability to find themselves? Would live to do this but I'm life in. And jailed by commitment.

Charming great storyteller great van conversion. So fun for people to live through this adventure through you
Nice vlog & yes I know you love abandoned places, waiting for another vlog.

Thank you so much. I definitely will keep tabs on the weather, I appreciate the heads up! ☺️🌷
"Things are what we make them.. That's kind of amazing." Amen to this!
What a beautiful spot to start your cross country journey and nice work fixing the leak 👏🏻👏🏻 Excited to follow along on this journey 😃

How can you not have more views!? Great content that truly feels genuine. Keep up the good work!
I just love how your mind works. You are one of the most interesting van lifers I've ever come across and I can't wait to follow your journey!

Great start young lady you only live once so many beautiful places in this country. You just keep reminding us. Love it
Your a truly gifted at telling story’s never stop ❤
You are so strong for going through the task that make life feel amazing 😊

"First time living in a van down by the river" 🤣 classic!! Great video Tory!!

Beautiful view. I used to travel in east coast when I was working in that area. Missing the place ❤
i never would thought roof would leak , that could mess up all your wood quickly , not fair good people get bad luck

Been there! I had to take over 1/2 of my keys off my key ring. And have a new ignition put in. Luckily it was still under warranty!!
Tory, Have you considered modeling as you travel around? I have to believe you could make a living doing it.
Get a spray bottle for dish soap and water. Spray the pot and wipe it out with a paper towel. Hang the towel up to dry.
Awesome work! I really like the new custom intros, Tory.

Thanks! ☺️💐
I think I need to listen to that book. That quote has gotten me thinking.
that's why i didn't screw my solar panels on my roof, i used a roof rack instead.

I'm curious, when you do a monologue over some footage, do you write a script out or just some talking points or is it off the top of your head?
Do you ask bc she continuously says ‘acrost’?!?! 🤭
Nice decorations on your van
Thank you so much!! ☺️🌷
Don't feel bad, I do my dishes only twice a week because I spend too much time with the tv.

drilling through the roof is never a good idea. you have mushroom studs or the roof rail to mount a variety of roof racks to.

Your channel stats state you have 91 videos yet I only see 14. What happened to all your videos?
It counts shorts & long form! I only just started long form in January ☺️💐 Thanks for asking!
You need a couple more keys.
Those ppl saying you complain alot could just go watch someone else's videos if they dont like it. 😠
🍩
Haha APPRECIATED 😂😂
Patience, it is a test from Allah. You be fine.
Seems ok to complain about real, unexpected problems. But you have plenty of positive to go along with it. That's real life...
So true, I appreciate the input, I agree that it can be helpful and constructive to talk about both! Definitely needs a healthy balance to it ☺️
lol you expect your van to not leak. What privilege…
you tend to talk really fast. hard to keep up with you.
I dont feel like u complain a lot. I feel like r saying how jt js. Like van life isn't all great
there is no 't' in across. you're driving across America, not acrost America. I'm sorry for being so pedantic but you're killin me here 🤨
