Sorry for the autofocus jumpiness on this first video.. we've fixed that in later ones. Please leave your comments and questions below. We plan to use future episodes to answer those questions!!

@@joefrost2763 Thanks Joe, Yes.. setting the focus and moving the little switch to manual was a significant marginal gain!!

Let me guess: you’re using a Panasonic camera? They’re notorious for having that very issue. Or, you’re using a Nikon DSLR. My suggestion is to stop down the aperture one stop, increase ISO one stop to compensate, lock the focus, then disable the autofocus system. LOL!

I’d love to know what kind of gains can be made from an aero road bar compared to a traditional round bar. Seems like a good bang for the buck as it’s a leading edge, however, there’s a large body right behind it. Is there any reason why one wouldn’t run one besides the cost?

This is coming up in a future episode with some detail, but you can count on 20-30 watts at 50kph for an aero road bar compared to a round road bar.. the first time I ran it in the tunnel 15 years ago, we thought we screwed something up as it seemed too good to be true!

@@SILCAVelo yes it's not true. In the real world it's 10 watt at 50 kph for sprinting a kilo. So u will save a second for a kilo sprint

Hi thanks for the video and talk. Could you talk from my side which is a club rider? I look for good value in those gains. I have been looking at wheels and when I bought my bike 12 years ago, all campagnolo wheels were solid. Carbon was very expensive and could be damaged. I now have a new bike on order, I have bought a pair of Campag alloy wheels tubeless again for all year but would like to buy some Carbon wheels. Looking around I am trying to work out, how much and who to buy from. Trying to get that level where they are good wheels, maybe not the pinnacle such as race but good enough for me on the club Sunday rides. Thanks in advance. Vincenzo (Vinnychoff)

Hi Josh, love the series. I have two 'marginal gains' questions that I can't seem to find good info for online. 1) what watt difference do you see as you drop down in handlebar width size? Let's say from a 44 to a 40 or a 42 to a 38? From my experience, dropping down from a (measured) 43 to a 39 felt like a bigger difference in speed than anything else I've done - like using an aero frame or wheels. Curious what you've seen. 2) What is the watt difference between two identical helmets, but different sizes. So if you normally wear a medium but can get away with a small, what kind of difference would you expect? Thanks for any input!
