Thus, for 150% attack Prism Tower, you spend additional $1,800 bringing this defense network cost to $3,600. Tesla Coil also cost 75 power unit, using Tesla Reactor as power source also put power cost at $4 per unit. Thus the first tower will cost you $1,800, same as Prism tower. But method of power up Tesla Coil is done by Tesla Trooper which cost $500, gaining +50% attack damage, thus total cost for 150% Tesla Tower is $2,300. However, Tesla Coil has damage cap at 1 charge, as this vid demonstrate, while Prism Tower seem to have unlimited charges and higher rate of fire. So it's the case of "You get what you pay for", you cannot expect $3,600+ defense to be worse than $2,300 one, is it? But from what I saw in many TH-camrs here, they seem to prefer pillboxes and sentry guns in multiplayer, rarely did they build these advanced towers at all. Oh, and Prism tower has problem when facing swarm of tank rush / manspam, as all towers will focus down one unit at a time, and you cannot micro them to spread their attacks out too. unlike Tesla Tower that you can micro separately.

I always hated France. Never had a hard time beating French players because the grand cannon has 7 major weaknesses. 1... It's expensive. 2... It takes forever to build one. 3... It drains a lot of power. 4... It's fairly easy to make it go offline by disabling power. 5... It can be taken out by air units/long range boats easily. 6... It can't shoot things that are right next to it. 7... A good defense is a good often and it's usually a smarter idea to simply build a army rather than a defensive structure in the first place... All of those things I mentioned are things you should consider in pvp. But against the AI or just casual play or coop then go nuts. Grand cannons are pretty awesome to see in action. It is fun to use the grand cannon... Not going to lie lol... Nothing kooler than seeing a bunch of grand cannons totally shit on a in coming ground attack before they can even scratch your base lol. Take control of a bridge and set up a mini base at the end of it. NOTHING gets through with a grand cannon or two in place. Those south korean black eagles are fucking evil lol. Soooo many times have I seen 3 black eagles destroy the radar dish which stops the creation of a battle lab lololol. I have done it many times and it's been done to me many times. It's VERY hard to stop that sort of a thing. All it takes is 3 black eagles... That's it... They can easily control the battle field in mid/early game. Fuckin things lol.
Multiple Tesla troopes does not improve on the Tesla coil any further. 10 will have the same effect as 1. Except when the base is low on power....than having 3 Tesla troopers is ideal :P

You forget one big advantage. Five prism towers work together and only have 1 shot each time. While 5 tesla coils all seek targets individually. Instead of using tesla troopers you should use more tesla coils. It's also more fair money wise and building time.

Only prism towers that do not have a target will improve other prism towers. If each tower has a target, they will fire individually. The advantage of prism towers is you can build them around your base and even the ones out of effective range will help.
That cuts both ways, though. It's easier to network Prism towers to cover multiple entrances or areas of ingress. The whole network fights as well, whereas each Tesla coil only covers a specific area.
1. Single tower differences: - prism tower has faster rate but less damage. - tesla coil has slow rate but high burst damage. 2. Special traits: - prism tower can link up with other towers for increased damage with a max link of 9, that can one shot almost anything - tesla coils can be charged up by 1 tesla trooper for increased damage, unpowered tesla coils can be charged up by 2 tesla troopers to become online, and another 1 tesla trooper can be added to the 2 tesla trooper powered tesla coil to increase damage while base is unpowered... conclusion: - linked prism towers are most likely effective in enemy battalion due to their high rate and damage - charged tesla coils shines the most when the base is unpowered, and still its online
So too summarize Prism Tower start out with less dmg per shot than Tesla Tower, but quickly overturn them by adding more towers, while Tesla towers max out after one additional trooper. On the other end. Thats only dmg per ONE shot. Adding 8 Prim tower too each other does less total dmg then facing 8 individual Tesla Towers. Also all 8 Prism Towers only hit one target, while the Tesla towers can hit 8.
What this video doesn't cover is the strategic convenience of prism towers beyond operating without power. If you have to space out your towers to cover more ground, then most of your towers might be out of range for any target. A prism tower out of range can still contribute as long as it is in range with the prism tower that can reach the target. Furthermore, you don't have to dedicate a heavy infantry unit just to enhance the power of a single tower; you just have to build more towers which you probably are going to anyway if you're trying to cover more ground.
I would like to add that the attack range of the tesla coil is greatly increased with the addition of the tesla troopers. It outranges the prism tower.

Even with the bug Prism towers would still easily be swarmed by infantry or Tanks. If you let your opponent basewalk that close to you you probably lost already.
One thing to take into account is that Tesla coils with a trooper on them get slightly increased range too enough to hit a prism tower without being hit back important on maps like east Vs best
I remember prism towers in actuall battle had the sequence that if there were multiple targets to choose from - within range - it was always 1 shot coordinated and then a volley of all of them shooting alone... and repeat...
I see the whole prism tower chaining thing as a weakness. having multiple towers will not allow you to tackle larger armies but only single targets with higher hp. Good against apocalypse tanks but pretty piss poor vs rhino tanks or Grizzlies. It is also very expensive to build compared to your other anti armor options like Mirage tanks or Guardian GI's.
Yes it really suck in terms of wave attack but really good at destroying them one by one efficiently in lesser amount of time. Plus you can place other defensive builds like pillboxes or tanks to take the blunt of the attacks.
Keep in mind that 1 Prism Tower costs the 50% more than a Mirage Tank, and 25% more then a Prism Tank, so you are better off using vehicles over base defenses in most instances. That said, Mirage and Prism Tank unlock at Battle Lab, and Prism Tower unlocks at Air force command.
One important advantage of the Tesla Coil is that you can deploy Force Shield and as long as a Tesla Trooper is powering the coil, the defense continues even when the power is down because of the Force Shield; you can deploy the Force Shield over the Tesla Coils and the coils will be invulnerable and able to fire.
@tg.Sacred I've actually not seen anyone honestly try to use the Force Shield as a strategic defense modifier. It's most powerful for the Soviets I assume, as the Tesla Coil can be kept online by Tesla Troopers, and the Battle Bunker requires no power, meaning that you could shield both and they'd be effective; reinforcing them with deployed Siege Choppers. Yuri would be the next best, because the Tank Bunker requires no power and can be shielded. The Allies have no defense structures that can operate without power.
I always overpowered my prisms; when you put enough in line, the laser beam will split up and hit bystanders to the original target. It's even possible to get a second split in.

I'm pretty sure the numbers are like this: 0 Coil: 200dmg ($1500) 0 Prism: 120dmg ($1500) 1 Coil: 300dmg ($2000) 1 Prism: 320dmg ($3000) 2 Coil: 300dmg ($2500) (operates at 200dmg without power) 2 Prism: 520dmg ($4500) 3 Coil: 300dmg ($3000) (operates fully without power) 3 Prism: 720dmg ($6000) Where the number at the start represents number of supporting troopers/towers. Both cost 75 power and have 600 health, prism towers have 45ms cooldown whereas tesla towers have an 80ms cooldown (in old RA2 tesla towers have 120ms cooldown and 100ms when charged) Tesla coils powered by 3 troopers are fully functional if you lose base power, this setup costs $3000, I don't remember if they consume less power or not while at it. So basically... 2 or more prism towers are more powerful overall, but a max capacity tesla coil with 1 trooper costs only $2000, tack on an extra 1000 and it'll keep working fully during power outages, while a prism tower setup that can reliably ( 6:54 2 prism towers narrowly beat 1 charged tesla coil) beat that costs $4500 but if you add more towers it scales up monstrously... However if you also account for the power costs and the fact that the allies don't have a nuclear reactor option like the soviets to solve all their energy needs... That price for the prism towers goes up exponentially, in other words, prism towers are stronger once you upgrade them but they'll bleed your wallet dry in more ways than one. If you also account for the fact that soviets have tougher units than allies, you'll see that it's better to be the soviets and just use tesla coils against the weaker allied units than prism towers against stronger soviet ones. And building more tesla coils means you can hit more targets, but building more prism towers mean you can just hit harder, 2 fully powered tesla coils for $4000 already trashes a 3 prism tower setup in damage, and it can do that while striking separate targets whereas the prism towers can not. The tesla coils give you a lot better bang for your buck.
One huge advantage of prism towers is when using them as a network and allows prism towers outside the range of enemy targets but in range of other prism towers to lend their power, especially good for blasting single high hit point targets. They are also easier to keep alive than schools of tesla troopers charging that can be easily picked off by snipers and mirage tanks.
Tesla Troopers only change the Tesla Coil's weapon to the OC (Over-Charged) Tesla Coil version: adding more than one Tesla Trooper to a coil doesn't change any of the coil's stats. Whereas the Prism Tower's weapon increases its power for every additional tower added. Use the freeware TibEd to look at the Rules.INI for yourself if you want to understand more.
Even Tesla coil had its max boost of range and energy with only 3 Tesla troopes, we still can't compare these 2 defensives turrets because: Prism Tower: 1/It can be connected with a max of 8 different other prism towers, that means our protection would be harder to break than the Tesla coil, 9 Prism Towers also means when the enemy is approaching into the attack border, the first attack is 9, and if we killed 1, the second attack would be 8 and keeps dropping until it reaches 0 2/We might instantly think that tesla coil would be very economical because it's stronger when it stand alone, but its strength still count of 1 when we put 2 right in the border too, its attack range does not expand like prism tower, so that when you're making a full connection of 9 Prism Towers at each corner like this, note that B is your Base 1 1 1 1 6 B 1 1 1 1 In the middle, if the enemy gets in "6" they'll get 14 points of attack, it would hurt a lot! but at the corner each would get 9 points max with 9*8= 72 point defensive, and with 14*1750$=24500$ I can tell that the Prism Tower is more economical than the Tesla Coil, and its defense range can cover all your base, each shot of that would instantly kill 1 apocalypse, in the middle it might be 2, you can see how fast and efficient each shot is it in the review above Tesla Coil: I said that Tesla Coil would not be economical than the Prism Tower, but if you really know how to use it, it would be a nightmare in late game 1/You only need 1 Tesla troop each Tesla coil, it would cost average 2k$, and its strength is 3/7(Apocalypse), you would choose these tactics of building defensive, note that 3* is "3 Tesla Troops", and the round brackets, minus is the max range of Tesla coil to attack the enemy, forget to tell you that you must use the wall to covered the coils and troops(i'll use W to note) W11W (( )) W11W W13W* ( ) *W31W ----------- Base ------------- W13W* ( ) *W31W W11W* (( )) W11W WWWW WWWW These would cost with 24500$, too. But its efficiency wouldn't let you disappoint, 3 struck each 2 seconds, than the Prism towers with 2 struck each 3 seconds cause it's only 1 prism at the corner 3 tesla coils + 3 troops bring up to 9 strength attack speed 3/2 seconds, cost 6k$, 4 prisms cost 6k$ but bring up to 6 strength, attack speed 2/3 seconds, prism tower was not created to concentrate to a specific target, but Tesla coil does, so in this case the Tesla coil win, these defensive towers cost a perfect used to make a perfect efficiency, as my tutorial above i hope that you can choose your best defense tactics of Soviet or the allied! *I like the French, cause i can combine my perfect defense tactics with MA'Grand Cannon xD i like it!
Can't remember but were there any single player missions where you had to power up a tesla coil with tesla troopers to fend of enemy tanks until reinforcements arrived? That could had been a fun micro-management mission.

I think that Prism Towers (PT) have more strategic potential than Tesla Towers (TT). Many people have mentioned that PT can’t handle swarms/groups of enemies like TT can. TT has lower fire rate than PT so it lowers the viability in such a scenario. The allies can mitigate the PT’s weakness towards groups by simply either using SEALs, Grand Cannon, and Mirage Tanks. There are many options. TT on the other hand falls short strategically since there aren’t as many options. Helicopters Cannons (or whatever they are called lol) just aren’t as effective as Grand Cannons or Mirage Tanks at keeping large groups of enemies at bay unless you have many of them, which costs money. The bunker is a viable alternative although too many tanks can easily overwhelm it unless there are many TT or many bunkers. At a point you have to question whether or not it is worth it to have many TT since you can just use bunkers. You can’t say the same about PT and Grand Cannon since you only need 1 or 2 grand cannons to wipe out large groups.
I have tested the Prism Tower and confirmed that It has a maximum of 9 numbers to create. As far as I've tested, I confirm that Prism Tower, from the 1st to the 9th, can destroy the Construction Yards and Naval Shipyard twice. And that it is the best descent It can destroy the construction base, unit and tank group only once. If you want to ask, then, which 10th, will it be added later? The answer is that because it has a maximum of 9 numbers, it can be fired at one point. One anywhere As long as there are up to 9 numbers Oh yes, I forgot about this again. Tesla Coil is the only defense base that doesn't have any infantry units fleeing from it. Even though it is a power base But if the energy is low (no Tesla Trooper at all or only Tesla Trooper) Tesla Coil will be useless. But if there is more than 1 person, can provide the power reserve with Tesla Coil if there is energy or without energy if you sort the Tesla Coil to a very horizontal 9 base, if combined with Tesla Trooper with about 18 people can base each base 1 -8 people. You will find that it can destroy the Construction Yards and Naval Shipyard for up to 2 times.

Tesla coil is more damage than Prism Tower. but Prism tower is longer range than Tesla Coil. And 4 Tesla Trooper is maximum number to charge Tesla coil. More than 4 person is useless to do.
You should be testing it based on having more Tesla towers too since the prism towers cost way more than the shock troopers and if I’m remembering correctly they cost more than the Tesla towers too, in which case the price makes the prism tower stack versus the single Tesla with a few shock troops cheating.
Prism towers have the edge in overall power in series, but with the high cost and limited targeting ability. Tesla coils are much cheaper to power up and multiple coils can attack more targets, but Tesla troopers are easier to pick off and the overall one shot kill is significantly less than multiple prisms.
Interesting. The Tesla coil maybe slow, but the damage output makes up for it, 2 Tesla troopers and the attack is much stronger, making it cheaper to upgrade, but adding to many makes slower. Prism towers maintain speed, but at a higher damage output per tower near it
yeah so basically, tesla troopers near telsa coils, don't increase dmg, but speed it up (can be powered as well when powers off) and multiple prism towers near eachothers will combine attacks
Looks like the Tesla Coil is more powerful than a single Prism Tower but its rate of fire is slower. Also, you can only improve the damage of the coil once. The second trooper is handy if your power is low, whereas with the Prism Tower you can have more towers to improve the damage, not to mention that the troopers are easier to kill than the towers.
The pro with the Tesla coil is the range and power. But adding Tesla troopers increases range more than the power. Prism tower is weaker but charge faster stacked way more power but still same range
Prism Tower's base attack time or attack speed is faster than that of the Tesla Tower. To compensate this, Tesla Tower has high attack damage than that of the Prism Tower. (if both are not in multiple tower (for Prism) and not charged (for Tesla). So Prism Tower has fast attack speed but low damage while Tesla Towers deals more damage but slower attack speed, thus both have equal Damage per Second.
Well telsa tower is ok when you are going on agresive and you need a little bit defense but if you'r defensive then prism towers are better because they can stack up more then tesla tower and deal so much damage that it can one-shot anybody. But to stack them is expensive and boosting telsa tower is cheaper and easier.
I have the original CD-ROM of the game and can't get it to install in Windows 10. The installation screen appears but after i press install, nothing happeds. Also i tried using compatibility to all Windows versions but didn;t help. Any ideas?
i have both an original cd version and the cd version of the first decade, AND the digital ulitmate edition(that includes all the newer post ZH games). most of the older games dont work on windows 10 despite supposedly being patched. RA2 was one of em, scroll speed is way to high to be playable... and it lags severely, which is unfortunate since people still play on gameranger. also ive since upgraded to a 21:9 screen and better hardware, dunno how it would run now, but i would imagine pretty much the same
What a shame. I have also the original Yuri's Revenge cd-rom. The installation tried to launch when i set to execute the program in 640x480 resolution but then i got a no-display pop-up from my monitor. I miss my old potato pc now :) P.S: If i give my serial numbers to EA, would they be able to unlock the digital version in Origin for me? xD
Use DOS box if you use the CD, or use the free remake version which is free downloadable. cncnet.org CnCnet is far more powerful than the original. The original also free downloadable at EA website when i checked.
So... stand alone Tesla Coils are overall better than Prism Towes, unless Prisms have 2 or more in proxcimity with eachother. However, if we consider an army of infantry units approaching, the coils would attack each to different tasrgets while the Prism would unite their attacks, attacking 1 at the time.
- Cost-for-cost, 2 prism towers are equivalent to a tesla coil powered by *3* tesla troopers. (Although as you demonstrated, the results would be the same.) - Knowing the limits of tesla coil boosting, you should try to pit 4 prism towers vs 3 tesla coils + 1 tesla trooper on each. (Both set-ups cost $6000.) - I would like to see a comparison against the grand cannon as well. - You should use the waypoint system to have the towers attack at the same time. (Or maybe the waypoint system doesn't work on structures and on allied units.) - A separate point for people to consider is that tesla coils have slightly better range.
Yes, perhaps a comparison of the same cost would prove more fair. Again yes, way-points do not work with buildings thus it was hard to make a fair fight.
You can buy the games from Origins. EA Origins .com I bought the complete pack that came with all the versions of C&C up to C&C4. for about $20.00 There's some issues with playing each game that you have to deal with but still fun.

Tesla troops doesn’t increase the damage but increase the range by a lot so you can fire multiple shots before enemy reach your defenses. Multiple prism increase the damage by a lot and also create multiple ways to attack.
The Prism Tower is weaker than the Tesla Coil when it's by itself on a per-shot basis. But the Prism Tower fires faster. I think the game developers intended the Prism Tower to be 'linked up' to other towers rather than just a stand alone base defense.
That's one of the reasons static base defences are almost never used in mp. If you are allied you don't even need to and you shouldn't in most cases Mirage or BF just better, cheaper and mobile defences.
Against the Apocalypse: - Prism Tower: 7 shots, 15s; Tesla Coil: 5 shots, 14s - 2x Prism Twr: 3 shots, 6s; Tesla + ST: 3 shots, 7s - 3x Prism Twr: 2 shots, 3s; Tesla + 2ST: 3 shots, 7s - 4x Prism Twr: 2 shots, 3s; Tesla + 4ST: 3 shots, 7s Conclusions from the entire video: - Tesla Coils hit harder per shot, while Prism Towers hit more rapidly. - Prism Towers continue to stack hit power with each subsequent tower they link to. - Tesla Coils gain a boost for having Shock Troopers in proximity, but the boost does not stack beyond the first Trooper. Additional note: - I'd like to see a video of testing Prism Towers and Tesla Coils against common attacks (i.e. a tank rush).
Prism tower plus 1 or more prism tower will increase the damage. While Tesla tower plus 1 tesla trooper increase range and damage, no matter how many you put tesla trooper the increased of range and damage still same as 1 tesla trooper. But the merit is you can turn it back online when you didn't have enough power. For raw damage (1 tower with no support) Tesla win.
Nuu i tested it myself and it appears that tesla coils will gain a Very Little damage buff and slightly faster attack speed once buffed with tesla troopers. I also have the official yuri's revenge game too, it must be a bug for certain maps.

All of those things I mentioned are things you should consider in pvp. But against the AI or just casual play or coop then go nuts. Grand cannons are pretty awesome to see in action.
It is fun to use the grand cannon... Not going to lie lol... Nothing kooler than seeing a bunch of grand cannons totally shit on a in coming ground attack before they can even scratch your base lol. Take control of a bridge and set up a mini base at the end of it. NOTHING gets through with a grand cannon or two in place.
Those south korean black eagles are fucking evil lol. Soooo many times have I seen 3 black eagles destroy the radar dish which stops the creation of a battle lab lololol. I have done it many times and it's been done to me many times. It's VERY hard to stop that sort of a thing. All it takes is 3 black eagles... That's it... They can easily control the battle field in mid/early game. Fuckin things lol.
In the campaign, on Easy difficulty, two prism towers combined will one-shot anything.

You forget one big advantage. Five prism towers work together and only have 1 shot each time. While 5 tesla coils all seek targets individually. Instead of using tesla troopers you should use more tesla coils.

Only prism towers that do not have a target will improve other prism towers. If each tower has a target, they will fire individually. The advantage of prism towers is you can build them around your base and even the ones out of effective range will help.
That cuts both ways, though. It's easier to network Prism towers to cover multiple entrances or areas of ingress. The whole network fights as well, whereas each Tesla coil only covers a specific area.

2. Special traits:
- prism tower can link up with other towers for increased damage with a max link of 9, that can one shot almost anything
- tesla coils can be charged up by 1 tesla trooper for increased damage, unpowered tesla coils can be charged up by 2 tesla troopers to become online, and another 1 tesla trooper can be added to the 2 tesla trooper powered tesla coil to increase damage while base is unpowered...
conclusion:
- linked prism towers are most likely effective in enemy battalion due to their high rate and damage
- charged tesla coils shines the most when the base is unpowered, and still its online

So too summarize
Prism Tower start out with less dmg per shot than Tesla Tower, but quickly overturn them by adding more towers, while Tesla towers max out after one additional trooper.
On the other end. Thats only dmg per ONE shot. Adding 8 Prim tower too each other does less total dmg then facing 8 individual Tesla Towers. Also all 8 Prism Towers only hit one target, while the Tesla towers can hit 8.
You can't forget that 1 shock trooper is cheaper than a Prism tower.
Oh and shock trooper don't use power.
What this video doesn't cover is the strategic convenience of prism towers beyond operating without power.
If you have to space out your towers to cover more ground, then most of your towers might be out of range for any target. A prism tower out of range can still contribute as long as it is in range with the prism tower that can reach the target. Furthermore, you don't have to dedicate a heavy infantry unit just to enhance the power of a single tower; you just have to build more towers which you probably are going to anyway if you're trying to cover more ground.
Tesla tower rewards more to aggressive players while prism tower is more suitable for turtling players whom depend a lot to defensive structures.
You can make Prism towers attack individually, but requires more micro management.
I would like to add that the attack range of the tesla coil is greatly increased with the addition of the tesla troopers. It outranges the prism tower.

In any case, when the extra damage to be inflicted is calculated, RA2&YR start messing up.
Even with the bug Prism towers would still easily be swarmed by infantry or Tanks. If you let your opponent basewalk that close to you you probably lost already.

That is correct. The point of prism towers is that even towers that don't have a target in range will contribute.

I see the whole prism tower chaining thing as a weakness. having multiple towers will not allow you to tackle larger armies but only single targets with higher hp. Good against apocalypse tanks but pretty piss poor vs rhino tanks or Grizzlies. It is also very expensive to build compared to your other anti armor options like Mirage tanks or Guardian GI's.
Yes it really suck in terms of wave attack but really good at destroying them one by one efficiently in lesser amount of time. Plus you can place other defensive builds like pillboxes or tanks to take the blunt of the attacks.

Keep in mind that 1 Prism Tower costs the 50% more than a Mirage Tank, and 25% more then a Prism Tank, so you are better off using vehicles over base defenses in most instances. That said, Mirage and Prism Tank unlock at Battle Lab, and Prism Tower unlocks at Air force command.

One important advantage of the Tesla Coil is that you can deploy Force Shield and as long as a Tesla Trooper is powering the coil, the defense continues even when the power is down because of the Force Shield; you can deploy the Force Shield over the Tesla Coils and the coils will be invulnerable and able to fire.

@tg.Sacred I've actually not seen anyone honestly try to use the Force Shield as a strategic defense modifier. It's most powerful for the Soviets I assume, as the Tesla Coil can be kept online by Tesla Troopers, and the Battle Bunker requires no power, meaning that you could shield both and they'd be effective; reinforcing them with deployed Siege Choppers. Yuri would be the next best, because the Tank Bunker requires no power and can be shielded. The Allies have no defense structures that can operate without power.
I always overpowered my prisms; when you put enough in line, the laser beam will split up and hit bystanders to the original target. It's even possible to get a second split in.

I'm pretty sure the numbers are like this:
0 Coil: 200dmg ($1500)
0 Prism: 120dmg ($1500)
1 Coil: 300dmg ($2000)
1 Prism: 320dmg ($3000)
2 Coil: 300dmg ($2500) (operates at 200dmg without power)
2 Prism: 520dmg ($4500)
3 Coil: 300dmg ($3000) (operates fully without power)
3 Prism: 720dmg ($6000)
Where the number at the start represents number of supporting troopers/towers.
Both cost 75 power and have 600 health, prism towers have 45ms cooldown whereas tesla towers have an 80ms cooldown (in old RA2 tesla towers have 120ms cooldown and 100ms when charged)
Tesla coils powered by 3 troopers are fully functional if you lose base power, this setup costs $3000, I don't remember if they consume less power or not while at it.
So basically... 2 or more prism towers are more powerful overall, but a max capacity tesla coil with 1 trooper costs only $2000, tack on an extra 1000 and it'll keep working fully during power outages, while a prism tower setup that can reliably ( 6:54 2 prism towers narrowly beat 1 charged tesla coil) beat that costs $4500 but if you add more towers it scales up monstrously... However if you also account for the power costs and the fact that the allies don't have a nuclear reactor option like the soviets to solve all their energy needs... That price for the prism towers goes up exponentially, in other words, prism towers are stronger once you upgrade them but they'll bleed your wallet dry in more ways than one.
If you also account for the fact that soviets have tougher units than allies, you'll see that it's better to be the soviets and just use tesla coils against the weaker allied units than prism towers against stronger soviet ones. And building more tesla coils means you can hit more targets, but building more prism towers mean you can just hit harder, 2 fully powered tesla coils for $4000 already trashes a 3 prism tower setup in damage, and it can do that while striking separate targets whereas the prism towers can not. The tesla coils give you a lot better bang for your buck.
One huge advantage of prism towers is when using them as a network and allows prism towers outside the range of enemy targets but in range of other prism towers to lend their power, especially good for blasting single high hit point targets. They are also easier to keep alive than schools of tesla troopers charging that can be easily picked off by snipers and mirage tanks.
What version of Red Police 2
Tesla Troopers only change the Tesla Coil's weapon to the OC (Over-Charged) Tesla Coil version: adding more than one Tesla Trooper to a coil doesn't change any of the coil's stats. Whereas the Prism Tower's weapon increases its power for every additional tower added.

Even Tesla coil had its max boost of range and energy with only 3 Tesla troopes, we still can't compare these 2 defensives turrets because:
Prism Tower:
1/It can be connected with a max of 8 different other prism towers, that means our protection would be harder to break than the Tesla coil, 9 Prism Towers also means when the enemy is approaching into the attack border, the first attack is 9, and if we killed 1, the second attack would be 8 and keeps dropping until it reaches 0
2/We might instantly think that tesla coil would be very economical because it's stronger when it stand alone, but its strength still count of 1 when we put 2 right in the border too, its attack range does not expand like prism tower, so that when you're making a full connection of 9 Prism Towers at each corner like this, note that B is your Base

In the middle, if the enemy gets in "6" they'll get 14 points of attack, it would hurt a lot! but at the corner each would get 9 points max
with 9*8= 72 point defensive, and with 14*1750$=24500$
I can tell that the Prism Tower is more economical than the Tesla Coil, and its defense range can cover all your base, each shot of that would instantly kill 1 apocalypse, in the middle it might be 2, you can see how fast and efficient each shot is it in the review above

I remember my prism towers would only sync every other shot. Is that only in RA2 and was fixed in YR?
I think that Prism Towers (PT) have more strategic potential than Tesla Towers (TT). Many people have mentioned that PT can’t handle swarms/groups of enemies like TT can. TT has lower fire rate than PT so it lowers the viability in such a scenario. The allies can mitigate the PT’s weakness towards groups by simply either using SEALs, Grand Cannon, and Mirage Tanks. There are many options. TT on the other hand falls short strategically since there aren’t as many options. Helicopters Cannons (or whatever they are called lol) just aren’t as effective as Grand Cannons or Mirage Tanks at keeping large groups of enemies at bay unless you have many of them, which costs money. The bunker is a viable alternative although too many tanks can easily overwhelm it unless there are many TT or many bunkers. At a point you have to question whether or not it is worth it to have many TT since you can just use bunkers. You can’t say the same about PT and Grand Cannon since you only need 1 or 2 grand cannons to wipe out large groups.

I have tested the Prism Tower and confirmed that It has a maximum of 9 numbers to create. As far as I've tested, I confirm that Prism Tower, from the 1st to the 9th, can destroy the Construction Yards and Naval Shipyard twice. And that it is the best descent It can destroy the construction base, unit and tank group only once. If you want to ask, then, which 10th, will it be added later? The answer is that because it has a maximum of 9 numbers, it can be fired at one point. One anywhere As long as there are up to 9 numbers Oh yes, I forgot about this again. Tesla Coil is the only defense base that doesn't have any infantry units fleeing from it. Even though it is a power base But if the energy is low (no Tesla Trooper at all or only Tesla Trooper) Tesla Coil will be useless. But if there is more than 1 person, can provide the power reserve with Tesla Coil if there is energy or without energy if you sort the Tesla Coil to a very horizontal 9 base, if combined with Tesla Trooper with about 18 people can base each base 1 -8 people. You should be testing it based on having more Tesla towers too since the prism towers cost way more than the shock troopers and if I’m remembering correctly they cost more than the Tesla towers too, in which case the price makes the prism tower stack versus the single Tesla with a few shock troops cheating.
I like having a cohesive ring of prism towers around my base, they charge up eachother well.
I loved the Paris mission, you could fry buidling tanks and soldiers from blocks away, so freaking fun!!
Prism towers have the edge in overall power in series, but with the high cost and limited targeting ability. Tesla coils are much cheaper to power up and multiple coils can attack more targets, but Tesla troopers are easier to pick off and the overall one shot kill is significantly less than multiple prisms.

Interesting. The Tesla coil maybe slow, but the damage output makes up for it, 2 Tesla troopers and the attack is much stronger, making it cheaper to upgrade, but adding to many makes slower. Prism towers maintain speed, but at a higher damage output per tower near it

Looks like the Tesla Coil is more powerful than a single Prism Tower but its rate of fire is slower. Also, you can only improve the damage of the coil once. The second trooper is handy if your power is low, whereas with the Prism Tower you can have more towers to improve the damage, not to mention that the troopers are easier to kill than the towers.
The pro with the Tesla coil is the range and power. But adding Tesla troopers increases range more than the power. Prism tower is weaker but charge faster stacked way more power but still same range
Prism Tower's base attack time or attack speed is faster than that of the Tesla Tower. To compensate this, Tesla Tower has high attack damage than that of the Prism Tower. (if both are not in multiple tower (for Prism) and not charged (for Tesla). So Prism Tower has fast attack speed but low damage while Tesla Towers deals more damage but slower attack speed, thus both have equal Damage per Second.

id still prefer tesla tower over prism tower, tesla tower can run with low power provided with 2 tesla troopers.
Well telsa tower is ok when you are going on agresive and you need a little bit defense but if you'r defensive then prism towers are better because they can stack up more then tesla tower and deal so much damage that it can one-shot anybody. But to stack them is expensive and boosting telsa tower is cheaper and easier.

I have the original CD-ROM of the game and can't get it to install in Windows 10. The installation screen appears but after i press install, nothing happeds. Also i tried using compatibility to all Windows versions but didn;t help. Any ideas?

i have both an original cd version and the cd version of the first decade, AND the digital ulitmate edition(that includes all the newer post ZH games). most of the older games dont work on windows 10 despite supposedly being patched. RA2 was one of em, scroll speed is way to high to be playable... and it lags severely, which is unfortunate since people still play on gameranger. also ive since upgraded to a 21:9 screen and better hardware, dunno how it would run now, but i would imagine pretty much the same
What a shame. I have also the original Yuri's Revenge cd-rom. The installation tried to launch when i set to execute the program in 640x480 resolution but then i got a no-display pop-up from my monitor. I miss my old potato pc now :)
P.S: If i give my serial numbers to EA, would they be able to unlock the digital version in Origin for me? xD

So... stand alone Tesla Coils are overall better than Prism Towes, unless Prisms have 2 or more in proxcimity with eachother.
However, if we consider an army of infantry units approaching, the coils would attack each to different tasrgets while the Prism would unite their attacks, attacking 1 at the time.
- Cost-for-cost, 2 prism towers are equivalent to a tesla coil powered by *3* tesla troopers.
(Although as you demonstrated, the results would be the same.)
- Knowing the limits of tesla coil boosting, you should try to pit 4 prism towers vs 3 tesla coils + 1 tesla trooper on each. (Both set-ups cost $6000.)
- I would like to see a comparison against the grand cannon as well.
- You should use the waypoint system to have the towers attack at the same time. (Or maybe the waypoint system doesn't work on structures and on allied units.)
- A separate point for people to consider is that tesla coils have slightly better range.

You can buy the games from Origins. EA Origins .com I bought the complete pack that came with all the versions of C&C up to C&C4. for about $20.00 There's some issues with playing each game that you have to deal with but still fun.

Tesla troops doesn’t increase the damage but increase the range by a lot so you can fire multiple shots before enemy reach your defenses. Multiple prism increase the damage by a lot and also create multiple ways to attack.

The Prism Tower is weaker than the Tesla Coil when it's by itself on a per-shot basis. But the Prism Tower fires faster.
I think the game developers intended the Prism Tower to be 'linked up' to other towers rather than just a stand alone base defense.
That's one of the reasons static base defences are almost never used in mp. If you are allied you don't even need to and you shouldn't in most cases Mirage or BF just better, cheaper and mobile defences.

Isn't it better to test prism towers vs enemy infantry? I thought the beam refracts like the prism tank.
The beam doesn't retract. There's not much to test against infantry though,.

- Prism Tower: 7 shots, 15s; Tesla Coil: 5 shots, 14s
- 2x Prism Twr: 3 shots, 6s; Tesla + ST: 3 shots, 7s
- 3x Prism Twr: 2 shots, 3s; Tesla + 2ST: 3 shots, 7s
- 4x Prism Twr: 2 shots, 3s; Tesla + 4ST: 3 shots, 7s
Conclusions from the entire video:
- Tesla Coils hit harder per shot, while Prism Towers hit more rapidly.
- Prism Towers continue to stack hit power with each subsequent tower they link to.
- Tesla Coils gain a boost for having Shock Troopers in proximity, but the boost does not stack beyond the first Trooper.
Additional note:
- I'd like to see a video of testing Prism Towers and Tesla Coils against common attacks (i.e. a tank rush).
Prism tower plus 1 or more prism tower will increase the damage.
While Tesla tower plus 1 tesla trooper increase range and damage, no matter how many you put tesla trooper the increased of range and damage still same as 1 tesla trooper. But the merit is you can turn it back online when you didn't have enough power.
For raw damage (1 tower with no support) Tesla win.

Nuu i tested it myself and it appears that tesla coils will gain a Very Little damage buff and slightly faster attack speed once buffed with tesla troopers.
I also have the official yuri's revenge game too, it must be a bug for certain maps.
