  • www.VideoJoeKno... Is your HVAC leak coming from the condensation pan...Joe asks? Joe is in the
    middle of attempting to locate a water leak that he has found at an hvac unit. Ha! Joe is not an HVAC service tech
    & he claimed he never was! But that's not going to stop him from checking out this hvac unit to see if he can
    locate the actual water leak & to see if he can in fact fix it! Joe is just an average Joe & he wants you to know
    that if he can do it, then more than likely so can you too! At least you will start understanding about things
    a little bit 'mo 'betta with how things work around your house so some of these things you can fix yourself so
    you can start saving a few dinaro! Wouldn't that be nice for a change! Cha'ching! The condensation pan could be
    backed up & spilling over the top or it might be something other than the condensate pan or drain but you won't
    really know until you get in there & check it out!....just like Joe, ahem. This hvac condensate drain pan
    troubleshooting procedure could take a few videos to come up with the issue but Joe wants you to see all of the
    things he will be viewing/inspecting & encountering for him to then decide if he can in fact make the hvac unit
    stop leaking water. This could get interesting....

    Funniest shit I’ve seen in years. Coils don’t “ turn white” they freeze. And unless you have a defective ac they will always freeze with the doors off. Put the doors on cap that drain by the air handler and go outside and watch it drain.

      Ha! I'm not an hvac guy by any means & made these videos to show how an average Joe goes about figuring out how to fix this leaking hvac unit. I actually finally figured out what was happening. I made all those videos & of course are on my channel. Go to my main TH-cam channel page then click on playlists then scroll down to hvac & you will find all of them there. Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad I could give you a few laughs!

    Negative pressure coil....need to install a pee trap so condensation isn't sucked back into the drain pan and overflowing

    • @VideoJoeKnows

      That might be a good thought but believe it or not the reason why this hvac unit was leaking was because the washable air filter was clogged! Once I saw that I gave it a good wash & put it back in & no more leaking! I made a video of that too. Just go to my main TH-cam channel page then click on playlists then scroll down to hvac & I show a few videos of this hvac unit. Thanks for stopping by...

      I made a few videos of checking out why this unit was leaking. You can find those videos by going to my main TH-cam channel page then clicking on playlists & scrolling down to HVAC or something like that, & they will be in there. Funny enough the leak was caused by a washable filter that was so clogged the unit didn't have anywhere to breath thus it got so cold that it started dripping down the edge of the unit down to the floor then down to the concrete subfloor. The washable filter was located down at the bottom of the unit & I pulled that out & saw how clogged up the filter was so I took it outside & flushed it out with a hose & put it back in & presto everything worked just fine. I made a video of washing out the filter & made some other videos too under the HVAC area as explained above if you want to check out those videos. Thanks for stopping by!

    Hey man, that systems low on r-22, clean that coil and it'll stop that water from dropping down in the platform afterwards it'll go down the coil fins like it should!

    • @joelbarineau949
      @joelbarineau949 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The coils freezing up because you have both doors off and no air is able to pass through the evaporator coil, the reason the insulation is wet is water dripping down from coil. Go to lowes buy a green can of evaporator coil cleaner, get a wire brush then spray cleaner on coil then gently take wire brush and go down the same direction as fins. This will save you money!!!!!!!

      Then you would find out soon enough if you saw your floors wet. In the end I found a filter located under the unit & pulled it out & found that it was clogged solid so I took it outside & lucky for me it was a washable style filter so I gave it a good wash & put it back in crossed my fingers & everything worked just like it did before....fine! If your coil is dirty or the metal is corroding it won't allow the condensate to run down the coil and into the pan the condensate water will stop on the dirt or corroded spot on the coil and drip straight down it is supposed to run down the coil and into the pan it will not do this because of the dirt or corrosion on the coil or could be low on freon do yourself a favor and call a certified technician he will come out and clean inside coil and outside condensing coil and then check your Freon levels your coil is very dirty someone has not been changing filter

    I’m having a similar situation. Water condensation is falling on top of the filter and dripping through it to the floor. I checked the plastic trays every where and I don’t have any filth/blob accumulated anywhere on the trays. Where could the water condensation be coming from??

    • @RodrinBird
      @RodrinBird 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Halcyon Outlander Yes I did. Had a big concentration of slime accumulating in the back of the A/C unit which I could not see. Water chooses the easiest path of flow so it was leaking out the back. Had to pay a technician to remove the whole thing and clean it with acid. It’s been fine afterwards.

    • @thewhitewolffl
      @thewhitewolffl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RodrinBird I think I have a similar problem, with my central AC. how much did that cost using a technician / ac repair company? After two visits my Ac technician is saying my drain pan is ruined and I would need to somehow find a drain pan and new coil assembly and then blah blah blah, buy a new system for $9,500 (insane). I think I need a second opinion to possibly remove and clean like you said, thanks for any help

    • @RodrinBird
      @RodrinBird 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thewhitewolf I had a friend who’s an A/C tech come to the house. He had to remove the coils, in my case the slime was stuck on the back tray which couldn’t be seen unless the coils are removed. My A/C was only a year old, but my problem was I was buying a filter 1” smaller and dust was infiltrating through the sides and accumulating inside. Once the coils were removed, they were cleaned with the acid foam and we could see the tray in the rear that wasn’t draining from the slime which was later cleaned and now is perfect. In all, I was charged like $250 for the whole job but that’s because it was a friend. This job of removing the coils is more expensive, between $400-$500. Do get a second opinion and find someone honest, hopefully you don’t have to buy a whole new unit. Good luck!
