Back in the 90's, when I was a teenager, I used to translate loads of lyrics to my native language using dictionary and writing them down on a piece of paper. One day, I've translated "A Tout Le Monde" , left the the paper with it on a table in the living room and went out with friends. My dad came back home and read the lyrics and thought I'm going to hurt myself, so he got into a cab and spend two hours driving around town and looking for me (90s, pre mobile phone era) to eventually find me all well with friends in the pub. I'll never forget his face when he found me. He was scared but happy in the same time. It was so many years ago, hes now dead, but each time I listen "A Tout Le Monde" it reminds me my dad and that moment.
And the critics said that Megadeth lacks meledy. But when they do write meaning songs like this, their accused of being pro suicide. Pure hypocrisy by the critics.
My son died days ago and I thought I wouldn't be able to listen to Megadeth ever again as that was our thing but listened to this song last night while trying to pick songs for his funeral and it's giving me such comfort, not only was it his favourite Megadeth song but it could have been written especially for us. Gonna go on his final journey wearing his A Tout Le Monde hoodie. Rest in peace Tom, thank you for being the best son and for just being you. And thank you Dave for writing such a beautiful and poignant song and indeed for enriching mine and Tom's lives with all your music throughout our lives..

I love dave's unique way of singing, he doesn't try and push himself to hit some crazy note - he just finds a way to say the words and sound rough and weathered and cool :)
I always wonder why Dave never sing that first verse of the song like the album version where his vocal sounded smooth & relax. Its the same when James sing Nothing else matters live, he never really sing it like the album version.
@@msdustismith8919maybe the person that wrote toul was just pointing out that's what it sounds like,as the T isn't accentuated, who knows. I do remember my son hearing it when he was young and thought he was singing 'ah 2 lemonz,ah messy me'. There again,my son did need grommets to help his hearing.

This was the song my mom always said she wanted to be played in her memory. She had a heart attack a few hours ago and did not make it. I can't quit playing it over and over
My heart is with you! May your mom rest in PEACE!! I remember when my mom passed away after a massive heart attack in 07'...(sure, I knew her body was stricken with cancer and she was in her last moments...) Honestly, I only found help from Megadeth to help me through... "Ashes In Your Mouth" was a tune I played over and over and over again.. th-cam.com/video/2G-chYSznL0/w-d-xo.html "..if your fighting to live! ...it's ok to die!"
My brother John, who was a HUGE Megadeth fan, passed away 2 days ago. He once dedicated this song to his friend who had died and I'm dedicating this to him now. I miss him dearly.
Did you notice that David Ellefson never fell into the grave. It was the two that we're outed from the band weather they wanted to be or not. My theory could be wrong be something I just noticed.
My ex-husband loved this frickin' band and Dave so much he named our son after Dave's son. RIP Rob 2022 RIP Justis 2023, you both will be missed daily!!!
This was my dads favorite song, he listened to it all the time. Little did i know, his last request he had was to play this at his funeral before he took his own life. Ill forever cry when it plays on the radio. I love you dad, rest easy. 06/23/2017
Sorry for your loss and everything, but Megadeth plays on your radio station? My local classic rock stations only play Southern Rock garbage and rarely even play AC/DC.
Harry Callahan Yeah. :-) I think he's a better vocalist now. I also like what he does @ 2:46 ("I'd love to stay with you all. Please smile, smile when you think about me. My body's gone, that's all.")
+Harry Callahan Though Dave has a bad vocals comparing with other Metal vocalists, He always sings with emotion which makes it more beautiful. No vocalist can come near to Dave Mustaine when it comes to singing with emotions.
I just lost my dad to suicide, this song brought me to tears. I believe he visited me in my dreams to tell me goodbye and that he loves me. I miss my dad.
So sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my nephew to suicide almost 8 years ago.The pain at first was unbearable.Music comforts me a lot.I hope it does for you too.Take care.x
Im sorry you had to go through that. My Dad passed away last week. Alone. I hoping he was at least happy knowing the impact he had on me, my children and my life.
This is not just a song, it's a piece full of emotions, sorrow and motivation Thanks Dave and the whole megadeth team for such a masterpiece I'm a Metallica fan but I seriously think that if there is a band in this world who can be equivalent to Metallica, it's Megadeth
@@criztu there are only 12 notes. Every riff/chord progression that sounds good has already been done. All bands are using the same building blocks for their songs and just arranged them differently to make unique songs. There are countless examples of groups using exactly the same parts but arranging them into the song differently so when certain parts of songs are compared, they sound the same, but when you compare the entire song, they are very different.
"Moving on is a simple thing, what it leaves behind is hard. You know the sleeping feel no more pain, and the living are scarred." That line cuts right through me. It strips the emotions that come with loss down to their purest form.
This song "À Tout le Monde" (French for 'to all the world' or 'to everyone')" is about what death leaves in its wake. Frontman Dave Mustaine has said "There were a lot of times when I was lost. In February ‘93 there was no solution to a temporary problem because I just lost focus. I ate a handful of valiums, and I overdosed… Why I would want to voluntarily kill myself through the use of stuff that’s not supposed to do any good for me just makes me rethink my whole way of life right now". Dave has also said if he had only a little time to live, one soundbite; he wanted everyone to know that good, bad, or indifferent; he loved them all. The song's chorus-"à tout le monde, à tous mes amis, je vous aime, je dois partir"-translates from French as follows: "To everyone, to all my friends, I love you, I must leave."
The thing I love about Megadeth that really draws me to them but not really anyone else in the genre is his voice. It's so flawed but honest just like all the best art is
My little brother just passed this morning and I just got back from seeing his body, this is the first song that came into my head and we r going to play it at his visitation. RIP Brother....
Blowed - verb, Nonstandard. 1. a simple past tense and past participle of blow2. Examples from the Web for blowed Expand. She was blowed high up in the air, but come down close to shore.
"Moving on is a simple thing What it leaves behind is hard You know the sleeping feel no more pain And the living all are scarred" Those lines still send chills down my spine
@L.K Megadeth is one of the less edgy metal bands that I listen to. I'm not saying that you are or Megadeth is edgy but that "life is meaningless" is a very edgy thing to say
@L.K Yeah but he's not saying "life is meaningless" or "I want to die" and it's metal I mean come on. And it was mainly a joke don't get offended by my comment...
These lyrics are among the best I have ever heard. My finacé is terminal with brain cancer and I've been struggling terribly and this song has helped me so much through this struggle and so much of what he says is true. The opening lyrics just make me think of the harder we try to control our circumstances the more out of control things tend to feel for us and the good things in life simply pass us by. Value and cherish those you love because you never know what hell lurks just around the corner...although her body may not be with me forever she will always be in spirit, mind, heart and soul.
@theincrediblewood Thank you, it's incredibly difficult, losing every woman I've ever loved. My gram died last year, then mom at 57 from COVID-related complications a few months later on July 4th, and now losing my fiancé. Been a rough year and it's still going...thanks for the encouragement, bro.
@theincrediblewood You're definitely right about that. They are always near and sometimes you can tell when they're really close. We will see all our loved ones again, I believe. God bless.
I am sorry about your fiancee. How are you holding up? This whole album has great lyrics. This is my personal #2 favorite behind Rust in Peace. I saw these guys and Lamb of God last May. Great show.
My dad was go with angel 6 day ago..... I have selected this song for him for his memory. He love AC/DC, DEEP PURPLE, KISS and more. I miss you, i can't forget you, i love you 😭❤️❤️
Sadly got asked to pick appropriate 'heavy metal, but not too metal' songs for my nephews funeral recently. Nothing Else Matters and A Tout Le Monde were the ones.
MrDraven37 Condolences on your loss dude. Can't even fathom how difficult this was, and "A Tout Le Monde" is quite fitting considering the lyrics in the chorus are translated to: "To All the World To All My Friends I love you I have to go"
Matthew Mitchell Great song, but the lyrics are not really appropriate for a funeral of someone unless they were in the armed services. Fade To Black is my favourite, but again, not appropriate. Cause of death was entered as unknown. Not suspicious, nothing in the toxicology, not suicide. He had been taken to the doctors in the 12-18 months prior for palpitations but no cause was ever found. A 26 year old suddenly dying, without any real answer as to why. Perhaps you understand the song choices.
"Don't remember where I was I realized life was a game. The more seriously I took things the harder the rules became. I had no idea what it'd cost, my life passed before my eyes. When I found out how little I accomplished all my plans denied...." *tears* Love Megadeth!
I've instructed my grown Sons to play this song at my Funeral one day. It describes exactly what represents all my Life. I have many years left, but Megadeth was my band during the most difficult times giving me strength! I've been listening to Megadeth since middle 80's
Песня написанная о собственной смерти. Очень мощная вещь. Всегда уважал Мастейна... за вклад в музыку, за упорство, за умения. Спасибо, что не сдался в свое время! Dave you are the best!

*"The more seriously I took things, the harder the rules became"*__Dave Mustaine_ I believe this is a deep and wise philosophical quote to induce some tranquility in one's mind and to, simply speaking, take it easy.
I remembered the first time I came across Megadeth. I was at my friends house and I noticed this CD on their kitchen table, the album depicted with an old lady hanging up babies on a line. Like when you hanging out clothes for them to dry. I asked my friend if I could borrow the CD. He said: '' Sure! But the only best song is number 4...'' And number 4 was ''A Tout Le Monde''. And that was the day I became a Megadeth fan. Man, I should visit my friend and thank him for introducing me to Megadeth.
Whatever of purchased the casatte for 150rupees in 1997 supposed the sam album cover pic attracted me and this only song I'd use to listen repeated ly till now on u tube.
Originally I wasn't a huge fan of Megadeth. Yes, there were a few songs I liked but I wasn't a HUGE fan. Then, I found this song and ever since they have been one of my favourite metal bands.
I'm finding my admiration is climbing over a bit more towards the Megadeth side but I still will love Metallica as well. It's just that singing these beautiful vocals while playing complex guitar riffs makes me a bit more Team Megadeth. As a long time Metallica fan (Queensrÿche, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, etc fan too), A permanent large part of my musical heart is dedicated to Megadeth! ¡Aguanté Megadeth! ❤️🤘💀

I listened to this song when I was 25 years old, I used to drive on freeways blasting this song on the sound system of my car and singing it so passionately, my parents recently passed away both within 10 days, and this song came back to me again reminding me frailty of life, now I truly understands the meaning of the song, it’s so deep and emotive, sometimes it takes a lifetime to understand the message, thanks for such a masterpiece Dave (Megadeth), Metal saves lives for sure.
Damn dude I'm sorry to hear about that. As someone who's lost everyone close to me up until my wife and kids (lost my only biological son) I know it's tough. Hope you're hanging in there. Side note: your profile picture reminds me of NASCAR driver Paul Menard before he went full beard. Not a bad thing. Was a badass in my book! Anyways, keep your head up man!
I'm 32 and I don't know how I've gone my entire life without having heard this song, but by the end of it I'm feeling such intense heartache. A friend of mine was so obsessed with playing guitar he had a battery-powered mini amp strapped to his back almost 24/7 so he could walk and play wherever he felt like it. He was a huge metalhead and I knew the first time I heard him play that he would be famous for it someday, but he passed away earlier this year so now the world will never see his talent and I feel so absolutely privileged to have witnessed it in my lifetime. This song just brought back a lot of really nice memories. Thank you.
First time I went to Venice Beach , California thee was this black dude roller skating with an amp on his back playing the guitar...had to be mid 80's...sorry for your loss...I've met Kiko in Barzil.
@@steveaustin1820 Funny that you mentioned Venice Beach, as it's one of the few places in California that feels like home to me. I'll never know what draws me to that specific beach, but who knows. Maybe it's the music calling me.

Listening to this song takes me back and fills me with tears & love. My best friend loved this band. It was over Megadeth that we sparked the friendship of a lifetime. We were in the Navy back in 2001. He was amazing & larger than life. We were in New Orleans on break and he saw this street called Elysian Fields Drive. He had to stop to take a picture. We were partying hard later and he got serious, which was rare for him. He told me not to cry for him when he dies. To play this song and remember him. I was a kid struggling to survive, like I’d been tossed in an ocean full of sharks. He was the only human who reached out and pulled my head out of the water. The last thing I wanted was to contemplate his leaving. I told him “Dude quit that! You aren’t gonna die YET!” Anyways we stayed the best of friends through highs and lows but maybe he knew something. Maybe he had a clock he didn’t like to face often that told him time was short. It kills me inside that he did end up passing exactly 5 years ago. He was 43 and had retired from the Navy some years before and was one credit shy of his BS. I regret I never got to say goodbye.
you know, my very best friend died of suicide, without telling me anything.. After suddenly hearing this song again and sing it, I feel that I could let him go and feel that he told me these words.. *we both heavy metalhead anyway
Helmi Ahmad sorry for your loss. This song is beautiful as was my little brother, RIP Joe. I'm at peace, I just wish he would've come home instead of GOING HOME.

This was the song we played on my dad his funeral. He wanted this song to play. He is passed away almost one year ago. I still miss him everyday.
I’m sorry sorry.

Sadly got asked to pick appropriate 'heavy metal, but not too metal' songs for my nephews funeral recently. Nothing Else Matters and A Tout Le Monde were the ones.
MrDraven37 Condolences on your loss dude. Can't even fathom how difficult this was, and "A Tout Le Monde" is quite fitting considering the lyrics in the chorus are translated to:
"To All the World
To All My Friends
I love you
I have to go"
No For Whom The Bell Tolls?
Matthew Mitchell Great song, but the lyrics are not really appropriate for a funeral of someone unless they were in the armed services. Fade To Black is my favourite, but again, not appropriate. Cause of death was entered as unknown. Not suspicious, nothing in the toxicology, not suicide. He had been taken to the doctors in the 12-18 months prior for palpitations but no cause was ever found. A 26 year old suddenly dying, without any real answer as to why. Perhaps you understand the song choices.
MrDraven37 Good bye to Romance would be appropriate in my opinion Great song written by Randy Rhoads and Ozzy

I remembered the first time I came across Megadeth. I was at my friends house and I noticed this CD on their kitchen table, the album depicted with an old lady hanging up babies on a line.
You aren’t gonna die YET!”
Anyways we stayed the best of friends through highs and lows but maybe he knew something. Maybe he had a clock he didn’t like to face often that told him time was short.
It kills me inside that he did end up passing exactly 5 years ago. He was 43 and had retired from the Navy some years before and was one credit shy of his BS.
I regret I never got to say goodbye.

"If my heart was still alive...I know that it would surely break." Just fantastic stuff.

you know, my very best friend died of suicide, without telling me anything.. After suddenly hearing this song again and sing it, I feel that I could let him go and feel that he told me these words.. *we both heavy metalhead anyway
I bet your friend heard you when you sing it. It is a really heavy song when you feel it. I did a rendition to it and cried mid song.
Helmi Ahmad sorry for your loss. This song is beautiful as was my little brother, RIP Joe. I'm at peace, I just wish he would've come home instead of GOING HOME.
i had a close friend and his brother do the same, this song always makes me think of them to. rip.
❤
For some reason, never heard the whole song before..one month ago we lost a good friend in a car accident..just now I heard the whole song. Now I understand 😢 I dedicate this masterpiece to the memory of John, we miss you, and we love you brother! Rest in peace ❤
Don't remember where I was
I realized life was a game
The more seriously I took things
The harder the rules became
I had no idea what it'd cost
My life passed before my eyes
When I found out how little I accomplished
All my plans denied
So as you read this know my friends
I'd love to stay with you all
Please smile when you think of me
My body's gone that's all
À tout le monde [To all the world]
À tout mes amis [To all my friends]
Je vous aime [I love you]
Je dois partir [I have to leave]
These are the last words
I'll ever speak
And they'll set me free
If my heart was still alive
I know it would surely break
And my memories left with you
There's nothing more to say
Moving on is a simple thing
What it leaves behind is hard
You know the sleeping feel no more pain
And the living are scarred
À tout le monde [To all the world]
À tout mes amis [To all my friends]
Je vous aime [I love you]
Je dois partir [I have to leave]
These are the last words
I'll ever speak
And they'll set me free
So as you read this know my friends
I'd love to stay with you all
Please smile, smile when you think about me
My body's gone that's all
À tout le monde [To all the world]
À tout mes amis [To all my friends]
Je vous aime [I love you]
Je dois partir [I have to leave]
These are the last words
I'll ever speak
And they'll set me free
[2x]
These are the last words
I'll ever speak
And they'll set me free
Oilers8ntDun team it's not "to all the world" but "to everybody"
@@alexnowak1211 I also thoght it was "I must go." Not "I have to leave."
This is one of the few songs that always brings a tear to my eyes. It's so good.
I am not a really big fan of Megadeth but this song is part of my top 5 best songs I've ever heard
They are just incredible…and Dave just knows how to get the best of his limited voice range. He is a freakin’ genius…a true modern bard…
this song played at my uncle's funeral 6 years ago :( and i listen to it everytime i think about him 😭
One of my all time favorites by megadeth.
*When ancestry says you're 2.5% french*
LMAO this comment is fucking funny xD
Still 1000's of times more French than Elizabeth Warren is Native American.

Tom Cavalera can you relate or are one of them as well
A Tout Le Monde!!!
"À tout le monde, à tous mes amis, je vous aime, je dois partir". "To everybody, to all my friends, I love you, I must go".

b0fb0f happy birthday you're right!!
Thank you miss :)
RIP Eddie Van Halen, no idea why but this song is the only thing I've found comforting in the wake of his death.
Edit; thank you all for the upvotes.
he was an absolute legend and will be dearly missed. one of the greatest guitarists to have ever lived.
I can relate. Rock/Metal guitar community in general felt it and this is a death-themed song so yeah. RIP Eddie
Van Halen was an important part of my childhood
Van Halen is one of my favorite band of all time
@@marmaiden666, Same!!
This was my sisters favorite song, She passed of cancer in 2006 and her literal last words were those in the lyrics. Everytime I hear this song it gets to me to this day.
à tout le monde, à tous mes amis, je vous aime, je dois partir
Hearing this song reminds me of my own life at 53yrs old now and How little I have accomplished all my dreams of how my life should have been.
I’m sorry
Life is what you make of it, man. Makes me put mine in perspective being that I’m a young man with my future ahead of me.
I'm turning 51 this year and feel the same.
and this part, being Autistic with ADHD undiagnosed till I was 48, is the part that I feel the deepest connection with as well
"More seriously I took things
The harder the rules became"
or they would just up and change the rules.
I'm just so tired.
I discovered this amazing and powerful song just months ago. It has brought me great inner peace. as a kid I never really listen to the lyrics. As an adult, I hear the true talent and art. Megadeth was supposed to be coming to Utah this month, but sadly they cancelled. I hope I get the opportunity to see them live one day!
Really beautiful song, great lyrics and soothing solo👌🏼
