    Best Mal interview done to date. Rory and Mal knowing they made major concessions in the deals they signed, like not getting paid from TH-cam videos that they’re appearing in, and STILL allegedly getting robbed is sad if true, from a friend at that. I wish them guys nothing but success.

      @@Ohh_Is_That_Sooo... what does anything you’re saying have to do with anything I said? If they had an agreement to be paid percentages from specific income and Joe did not do that, then he was cheating them. Having an industry career has nothing to do with any of that. Also agreeing to not be paid a penny from TH-cam videos that they appeared in was a huge concession from them.

    MAL refuses to take accountability that his business wasn't right. He banked on friendship instead of business. Also if you was partners you would of been signing them checks, paying for audio equipment, I don't think MAL or Rory paid a dime to invest in the business or brand so there for they was employees.

    • @nyiem
      @nyiem 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you trust your friend to look out for your best interests on the business end of things, one could say your business isn't right. But if that same friend does you dirty, do they not still hold responsibility for their part in doing you wrong as well? Even with Mal having admitted that he fucked up by trusting that Joe would look out, you still framed this situation as if it's black and white. Mind you, that whole "partner" thing came about over time and they've spoken about that as well. Mal wasn't even fully part of the pod for a while and he only became part of it (full time) because the fans demanded he did. This isn't black and white ; there's nuance.

      They were partners & received a percentage of the money. If they were Joe’s employees they would be getting W2s & Joe would have more taxes to pay. I have employees, I give them W2s & I have taxes I have to pay for them. They are paid by the hour & can earn bonuses. I provide health insurance, Joe didn’t because they were partners. The issue was Joe didn’t expect it to take off like it did. Ego got in the way. Plus if you are only an employee you do not pay business expenses, only the owner does that.

      @@jamesparker7016 because the IP & podcast was already established prior to them becoming partners. To get it to the next level they were brought in for content & to help with ongoing business expenses. Their contributions earned them a percentage of the profits to the show. They weren’t paid hourly, their contracts stated they would receive a percentage of the revenue after all business expenses were paid. Employees don’t pay business expenses, they just receive pay for the hours that they work. So if the show didn’t generate profits they wouldn’t earn their percentage. It happens everyday in the business world, someone starts a business & for it to continue to grow instead of going to a bank for loans they bring in partners to invest. Then when the profits come in they get their ROI. Some partners are silent & which they just invest into someone’s business & quietly get their ROI. Mal & Rory not only invested, paid business expenses, but they were talent on the show. The new guys on the Joe Budden Podcast are employees, they get paid for their time but don’t invest financially in the show or sit behind any business expenses. Joe protected himself by writing in the contract that he owns the IP & naming rights, so they couldn’t take that when they left.

    Ask Mal what he paid for? Who paid for the podcast? Who money was used to build the podcast? Showing up as a co host doesn't entitle you to equal share or payment. He keep talking. Yet he isn't addressing the most important factors. When it wasn't successful what money did you put in. You don't get a equal share to something someone started building before you. Rory came in the picture and became 2nd Mic. Mal had no name recognition, podcast, TH-cam or anything else anyone knows about. In Mal own words " I don't give a f*** about podcasting." Which turned out to be a lie. If you created the Joe Budden podcast then make another as successful. Rory and his peaked at the beginning once again do to Joe Budden and the JBP. Then exactly like Ak said your viewership plummeted after the die down. Mal wasn't even on the podcast tier list. Most people still didn't know who you was a good portion of the podcast. It took Reddit post and the likes for people to figure out. This dude like the Energizer bunny. He just keep going and going. If what you say is true then sue and be done with it! If you don't have a leg to stand on because of the contract you signed or breach of contract then you capping. Point blank period. You get what you negotiate. If Joe is not in breach of contract you were fairly compensated. Leave your feelings at home. This is business.

      @christiananthonysanchez2977 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly!!! It's frustrating because Mal is a real one, but, his POV is coming from a snake. And that snake is Rory. Look back at the old pod. Rory started trying to lay claim to the JBP way before this blow up. And in petty fashion too. Nah Rory fucked up a great thing and had no problem taking Mal down with him. And their new pod sucks BTW.
