    After 4 years, here I am utilizing your video to create my very first FULL obituary. A local funeral home is considering a partnership with me, but I must first submit a full obituary, and thanks to you, I accomplished that task, just submitted it and will wait until tomorrow to get their feedback, and also . . . it looks absolutely DOPE!!!! Thanks Myles and please don't ever delete this video!! I will be using it for every obituary I create until I get each and every step completely!!

    You did such a wonderful job on this teaching this lovely obituary sample of Prince Roger Nelson. I live in Minneapolis and my brothers would hang out with Prince. Only 4 blocks away for our home to his home. The North side always followed our Prince. And we miss him like crazy.

    First time photoshop user here and I accomplished making a beautiful obituary for my grandmother’s funeral based off of only your video! My family and friends were so impressed they told me I needed to start a side hustle! Thank you! Your work is beautiful and you are so helpful! I was reviewing the comments because I had ours taken to be printer but was wondering what printer you used and noticed you told someone you would cover printers in another video, did you happen to do that yet? I’d love to watch.

Can you do a tutorial on how to do at least a 8 page Obit and how to save it so it can be printed duplex? 7:37 filling on the purple on the background. I’m having a few struggles with layers. I do a lot of obituaries all in word which I hate especially if I’m doing a full color background there’s always that white border. I’m new to photoshop; I have it for 3 months but I bought photoshop elements plus a Dummies book..lol! Which is how I feel right now!!! Are there any other obituary tutorials you have. I saw the one with Kobe Bryant and another lady who passed

    • @MylesHiArt
      @MylesHiArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The paint bucket tool is what you can use to fill the layers up. Here's how you can change the background:
      double click on the bottom color, then the window layer will pop up. Select the color you want, hit ok. You should now see a new color for the bottom selection.
      Next, select the layer you want to fill on the right in the layer window. Then, hit Command+Delete (CTRL+Backspace on Windows) and it should fill that layer with that color. Hope this helps!
      If you'd like to do it without using keyboard shortcuts, you can click the paint bucket in the tool box window (It may be hidden behind the gradient tool) and then just click into the document and it will fill with your foreground color.
      I will consider uploading some more Obituary tutorials for people to learn from. Thanks for watching!

      People have told me for like ten years that inDesign is the way to do it but I've never liked using indesign for the same reasons you've mentioned above. I've always used photoshop! But yea anyway yes its possible to do this. With your documents open in photoshop, go to file>automate>pdf presentation and it will let you make it into 1 document in .PDF format.

    I’m new at this so when scanning photos do you scan it on your phone and then add to computer or only scan from computer?

    • @MylesHiArt
      @MylesHiArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried any phone scanning apps so I can't personally say that they would yield bad or good results. If I were you I'd try both methods if possible, and if not, just go with whatever method is available to you.

    Why isnt my gradient working? :(

    • @MylesHiArt
      @MylesHiArt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan Thomas you probably have it set to black to white. It has to be set to black to transparent. In the top left corner with the gradient tool open u can see what it’s set to by looking at that rectangular box

    What’s the ideal price range for them ?

    • @MylesHiArt
      @MylesHiArt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Difficult to say it depends on the client; where u live possibly, and their budget. It can be a real money maker if u live in a big city though cuz people die every day. I guess I probably wouldn’t charge less than $150 to design one but that’s me. You have to know what your skill set is worth... clients going through a death can be tough to deal with so you want to find a price you’re comfortable with doing the job for.

    Hey, This may be a dumb question...but if I want the obituary to be 8X10, do I need to make my document 16x20 so that it folds down to 8X10?

    • @MylesHiArt
      @MylesHiArt  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No because you're only folding it in half. So you double the width size. You'll need to make it on an 11x17 since there's no 10x17 size sheets(that I know of).once printed It will fold in half to make a size 8.5x11 obituary.

    How do you print them together?

    • @MylesHiArt
      @MylesHiArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you'd need a printer that will print on duplex mode.

      click new layer in the layer palette. click the brush. right click on the canvas, set brush hardness to 0%. change the color to white, then click on the canvas to brush.

    How do you print this out???

    • @MylesHiArt
      @MylesHiArt  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once you save the design as a .PDF you can tell the computer to print double sided (depending on if your printer has those capabilities) alternatively you can go to a print shop or an office shop such as office depot, staples, or fedex office. They likely have printers that will print double sided for you. If for some reason you cannot do a double sided print, you can print one side out, flip it over horizontally, and feed that same paper into the printer the opposite way to print on the other side.
