    Got to love checking for spark and fuel starts pumping next to it😂😂. Love your channel great stuff.
    Reminds me a bit of my old man leaning in to engine bays while Holley carbies are back firing sending up big fireballs and my old man wouldn’t even flinch😂😂

    In the United States, this body style of Falcon was only used one year(1966) for the Ranchero pick-up variant on the Fairlane chassis. Ford used the Fairlane/Torino/LTD II platform for the Ranchero until it was discontinued in 1979. The American Falcon station wagon from '66 to '70 also used the Fairlane chassis. The American '66 Falcon Ranchero and '66 to '70 station wagons are much larger than their Australian cousins.

    New subscriber from UK. Love old cars. Imported from the USA a 1973 Lincoln Continental Special Gold plated edition. Hadn't run in four years when I got it. Bought it because I love old Ford's and it's the same year I was born . Did a ground up restoration. It goes hell for leather. Nice V8 and sounds like a beast.
    Good to see you giving old cars another chance . That car looks like it'll be amazing once you get her fixed up . Certainly will turn heads. And the body is amazing for its age and being out in a paddock for God knows how long.
    So amazing listening to it crank over and trying so hard to start. Then wham she started and sounded fantastic. No rod knocks no head gasket issues. Fix the old girl up and look after her properly. You'll have a good old work horse for years to come. The dry weather where it is probably played part of saving it from serious rusting and damage. Good car. Best of luck with it.

    Had an XR wgn for a short while, and a couple of XYs converted to use the same 302W that managed to be in no less than 5 different cars, so I'm lovin watching you bring these classics to life. I can't believe the prices these old Falc's are bringing nowadays !!

    Good stuff mate. I had exactly the same experience with my 66 VC valiant. Had been pushed into a shed in 1985 and forgotten. I pulled it out in 2013, chucked fuel down the carb and it fired right up. Turns out it was just a blocked pickup in the fuel tank. Engine didn't even need a rebuild

    To test for a spark just pull the coil ht lead from the distributor cap remove the cap close the points turn the car on then open and close points with a stick while holding the coil lead near the block saves cranking the engine

    we have a ford falcon xy ute in really good original condition i think in my dads shed. he paid like 4000 i think for it ten plus years ago and over 1000 to ship it to qld from vic. we are turning it into a gt as we have most of the parts for it.

      @@TheIronEmpire our one has rust in the drivers side floor so you can almsot see through the floor. the drivers side back of the bench seat is ripped to shreds but perfect on the butt part. the dash looks very good. it has alot of surface rust on the grill on the inside of the bonnet , engine area and in the ute part of it. the rubber on the back of near the windscreen has come off. has millions of pea sized surface rust on it. the rear light on the right hand side is crack and the front indicator. (We even own a Holden hq 1973 in way worse condition and that has lots of rust holes sadly and we havent the time or money yet to restore it so it sits).

    Interesting observations how the XR wasn't as rusty as the XY. Similar cars but I'm of the belief that the quality of the metal used by the car companies altered around this time. The XA B and C models were rust buckets

    • @TheIronEmpire
      @TheIronEmpire  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Withab BJ unsure about the metal situation mate, I’ve seen some good and bad in each model.. I had an XC that literally had 0 rust, it was unbelievable. I think it just comes down to how it was used / stored

    Cool fimd mate...but why try to run it after all these years? One think I've learnt from workimg on old WW2 vehicles is to NEVER run them until you clear them....too many guys have destroyed engines and cars/trucks by running them with debris in the cylinders,filters or perished fuel lines and set them on fire. Do yourself a favour...put it on a tow truck, pull everything apart, replace and repair and then try to run it...I've seen some very scary things with old cars that guys thought it cool to drive on the road.
