And the "high" he is singing about can be interpreted in diffrent ways too. In addition to the obvious, there is another potential meaning: "Why is everyone getting somewhere, making a career/being happy?" Really a great song to show what feelings children growing up are experiencing and how important it is to lern good coping strategies so they don't have to "help" themselves with stuff that will destroy their life.
