I don't know how it is in other countries, but Americans by and large, have a difficult time saying foreign words as they are spoken in their original language, This might be true of all English speaking people, not only Americans.
One thing I believe is true: There is an strong anti-intellectual strain among many Americans. They resent and resist correction in grammar and pronunciation as elitist.
Trying to get Americans to pronounce van Gogh properly would be like trying to get them to use the Metric system.
    Ain't gonna happen ! :o)
This is a fine video. Clearly explained, no annoying background music, we see what you see as you draw.
Can't ask for much more than that !

Well we have 1 liter and 2 liter drink containers, so it's a start. I admit I'll have a hard time converting gasoline from gallons to liters.

I think Van Gogh would be pleased! Thank you for your teaching style, ideas and encouragement. And thank you for the correct pronunciation of his name! (He'd be pleased with that, too 🙂)

I love that you emphasize drawing as a meditation, I couldn’t agree more!

I took your recommendation to do self portraits at different times. I did not use a mirror, but just my memory of how I looked. The portraits changed drastically according to my mood at the time. It was so interesting, and almost like a therapy session with myself! Dank je wel, Koosje! Groeten uit California.

He is one of my fav artists. And tho I didn't think society was pronouncing his name correctly, I wasn't expecting that pronunciation lol

A great idea and thank you for helping me pronounce Van Gogh correctly. Actually, my wife, whose native language is Dutch, is always correcting me on this one!
We recently went to see the Meet Vincent Van Gogh exhibition here in Madrid, it was a wonderful and emotional experience. We saw some of those sketches you mention here in the video.

"In future my name must be put in the catalogue the way I sign it on the canvases, i.e. Vincent and not Vangogh , for the excellent reason that people here wouldn't be able to pronounce that name." Vincent (lettre 572).
Thank you Kosche for all you do for us, poor students 😀.

I'm not good at drawing hands but this was a good, fun, and learning exercise. Thank you, Koosje. Thank you, Van Gogh. 😊

Today I tried to draw my hand for the first time and it worked! Previously I was sure that it's too complicated subject for me to even try. But you inspired me to do it. Thank you!

I'm not sure if I will be able to draw my hand but I will try, it's only a paper.
When I travelled to Amsterdam I learnt to pronounce Gouda, today Van Gogh. :-)
    I love your channel

When I teach I recommend they draw their hand 5-6 times everyday.. the model is always available and they can do it with any medium! Thanks.
