There's a saying: "Stop forcing kids to have a relationship emotionally abusive family members. You aren't teaching them family first, you're teaching them that regardless of how someone treats them, they're supposed to love them unconditionally, and that's not a good lesson."

The grandmother didnt appear too dysfunctional, but you can tell by how the daughter spoke at the end there was clearly way way more to their story. Sometimes, mom or not, toxic family members have to be removed out of one's life in order to have peace in one's life. It's always sad when children & their parents are not on good terms. 💔

I’m sure after she left you and your family was able to get by just fine without her , when someone shows you who they are you must believe them as Maya Angelou once said. I’m adopted and my birth mother came back into my life 7 years ago after being absent since I was 5 ..Iam now 38 . She put off seeing me numerous of times saying she’s going to spend time with her boyfriend.. mind you I only saw her physically 3 times in 7 years . So you have to think what’s most important quality time with your family your blood.. or a man . I’ve cut my birth Mom off .. so I don’t blame you for your actions. I understand where Judge M is coming from and why she always champions for families to work it out but she has to realise that her way of thinking isn’t always right! She clearly comes from a loving family, which is why she can’t imagine how a family can feel the way these litigants do and why family members decide to stop associating with toxic family members. Unless someone has been in that situation or lived through that kind of dysfunction and heartache, they will never understand. I myself come from a loving family and can’t imagine that I will ever be in this situation, but I can also understand that the only experience that I have, is the one that I’ve lived! So I would never tell another person what they should do in their situation based off of my experience, thoughts and feelings. It’s so easy for the judge to say what she says all of the time when it comes to family but she has to stop thinking she knows it all and that she is right, when all that she has is her own experience. Family or not, if someone is toxic in your life, you have the right to back away from them for your own sanity. If someone had a toxic friend or romantic relationship, I guarantee that the judge would tell them to cut that person off, so why should it be any different with family just because they are family? Toxic is toxic!

The conflict does not include the child so why should he suffer the loss of a grandmother. Her Mom's life was fine. She and her son moved in with her because they needed to. Daughter decided to move and wanted her Mom to go knowing she would be without an income. She should have found means to pay her own phone bill though.
People are talking about how the Mom basically disowned her daughter, but I haven't read yet any comments on how the daughter said if her mom was on fire she wouldn't spit on her to save her life.
She's mad about the conversation with the boyfriend ( now ex).
She WILL need her Mom again.
I HAD a friend who's entire family cut ties with her because of how she treated everyone. Her parents helped raise her son ( and was doing a great job), she treated them terribly. She lost several friends who witnessed it. When her parents passed, noone at the funerals spoke to her...Noone.
It's heartbreaking that family is like this towards each other.
I don't know what ever happened to the person I was friends with, her children haven't spoken to her in years.

If a mother says she doesnt know what happened to their child, I look at that mother sidewise. How could you not know? Where were you? Obviously, you don't know everything your children do or go through, but that statement just reeks of negligence to me. My mother doesn't know every little thing about me, but she knows all of my moods, she knows when I'm sad, she cries for me and with me, she laughs with me, she talks with me, she's THERE for me. I tell her many things. I trust her. This case disturbs me so much. Everyone deserves a loving and present mother who speaks life and love into them.

There's gonna be a day that they will regret the things they're saying. My mom passed away and I couldn't imagine not having a relationship with her. I miss my mom so much and we were so close. When one of them passes then it will be too late to fix things between them. They're both immature but I think the daughter was more immature then the mother and the grandson is the one that's going to really lose out. It's so sad that grown adults can't look at themselves in the mirror and look at the way they're acting. Smh..

I hate when people on the outside don't know what's going on in the inside. It's so easy for people to sit there and say this is wrong this is wrong and not know the full story. Judge Milian does not know the full story. I know exactly what she means by know she doesn't want her mom seeing her son because there's just some mothers that are so evil and so diabolical and so hateful because of what they say to you when you're growing up. Because they love one kid more than they love another kid. And for her to say that she loves that grandchild and that she is raising two other ones those other ones need to be pulled out of that house because that woman is evil. I know she's evil because I grew up with a mother like that they're all nice and nice on the outside. But behind closed doors they're the devil themselves

It's saddening to know that things happen this way between individuals. It's important to remember that blood makes you related and not family. Family is work. Just because someone is a sibling or parent, doesn't mean you will get along or care to be around each other.
Now, I don't think one should continue to harbor hatred toward another and should instead do the work to resolve the issue (even if without the other party).

How toxic was she when she uprooted her life to move and be a 24/7 live caregiver. The drunken daughter is a petty, entitled, ungrateful lil #itch. Because trust me, if her mother was that bad before, she definitely would have made it known.
