    Hi there, I know this video is a year old, but I've just been working on one of these and your video helped a lot! I think I've found the initial cause of this problem: If you look at the cam/chassis that brings the blaster in and out, part of it is kind of a latch that locks on the screw post- you can see it by your finger at 7:05. I think this gets stuck, and the cog/motor is too weak to defeat the latch. I filed the latch on the cam down to a shallower, smoother shape. It seems to work more smoothly and is easier for the motor to push/pull the blaster in and out. Hope this is helpful to someone!

    Well done for stinking with it and getting it up and running in the end. There is definitely something to be said for sticking to an item (or range of items) once you've spent the time to diagnose what the issues and fixes are.

      Stinking with it...🤣🤣🤣. It always takes time to identify what causes the problem - but it's worth it in the long run

    really appreciate this thread. I had a similar problem and watched the video. I already suspected the nose gun being the issue as mine failed as the gun was extending. however, I did not fancy taking all those screw covers off, so I thought, why not just gently fiddle with the gun and hey presto, k9 rebooted itself. since then I by chance read the manual and it clearly states that K9 won't move while the gun is out. so it's designed not to move if it thinks the gun is still extended which may be due to the motor or the little switches. subsequently I had another one with the same problem, that was also fixed by manipulating the gun which was extended :)

    Just took mine apart as the when switched on the only thing that was happening was the extender gun was fully out and a clicking noise, i have everything working again as i slotted the motor into the right place and then everything was working. The only problem is when i press extender gun it will just keep goung in and out and the only way to stop it is turning it off. Any suggestions to fix this?

    ok cool . i skipped a bit.. glad you got it working.... few tips... 1: Use a AM Radio to listen to the transmission noise from the controller. 2: Capacitors across motors help reduce sparking

    Hi I just received mine off eBay

    Somehow I did manage to get k9 turned back on but
    As soon as I press the laser button he freezes again..
    Also my ears aren’t moving ?? Any ideas
    Thanks 🙏

      I think the covers are glued in, some more so than others. Not sure about the ears

    Good work Pete! It’s always good to get things working again, much better than sending it to landfill. Do you watch My Mate Vince on TH-cam, he fixes tons of different things and it’s quite addictive watching although some of his videos are pretty long!

    Got the same and more issues with one of these. The antenna unscrews from the controller but now it won't screw back in. Took the controller apart as best one can. The control sticks have hidden screws in the shaft of each stick. Whoever made this toy loves their screw covers. The screw covers are glued in, because of course they are. While fiddling with that, the buttons fell out and broke. Some sort of very fragile rubbery plastic. This whole toy is made from delicate plastics that are also difficult to access so you have to use sharp tools and excessive force. That coupled with badly designed motors and such is just very unfortunate.

    • @salesoftheunexpected
      @salesoftheunexpected 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's usually a case of one of the cogs on the model motors in the head is broken
