Jermaine is so underrated, the whole album this song is from is a great laface project. Hes got plenty of hits of his own too, unfortunately MJ had Jermaine blackballed from the industry after this and got this song and his album pulled with a swiftness 😂. This was climbing up the charts at the time too before it got stepped on. This song was a result of MJ stealing LA and Babyface behind his back while they were working on his album just to waste time and not make any music together as well as ignoring the family including their mother.

Michael wasn't Innocent. He tried to take Jermaine Jackson's producers away from him to work on his album instead. This is why Jermaine made the track.

It's a savagely smooth record, or his even bigger hit "Do what you do" which i still hear on the radio in stores today. His Dynamite album also outlasted the Jacksons victory album('84) on the charts despite coming out months before, MJ and Janet weren't the only ones to have multiple top 40 hits that went global. All 9 Jackson siblings have at least 1 charting hit but Mj, Janet, and Jermaine were the only ones to crack the double digits. Keep up the great videos 🔥🔥

This was a one sided beef. Considering Jermaine went on to marry and have kids with his brother Randy’s baby mama he’s not the most loyal. Michael did the victory tour and album to help his brothers when he didn’t want to. I think it showed he cared but didn’t want to be beholden to them forever
I read he did it because his mother asked him to.
Jermaine was in the process of making this album with Babyface and the rest of the Laface production team when Michael called them away and wanted them to work on his Dangerous album behind Jermaine's back. When Jermaine found out about it he was piss off at Michael which motivated him to write a diss song about him. The whole thing was Michael's fault for not being patient enough to wait for the Laface crew to finish working on Jermaine's album first. I use to play the album over and over again, I believe it's one of Jermaine's best albums he ever made and most of the music world has not heard it unless you are a diehard Jermaine Jackson fan.

Germaine was pissed at Michael because Michael apparently stole one of his producers or engineers I can’t remember which one for a project Michael was working on.
He stole both LA and Babyface from him just to waste time, LA Reid confirmed it in his book so Jermaines feelings were justified. Also they barely worked on anything when they were with MJ and nothing from those sessions got used, it was just to take away from Jermaine.

Theres a lot of context yall are missing from this beef and Jermaines solo career was on fire during the victory tour era, its one of the reasons he had a solo set during every show on the Victory Tour.
Jermaine hated Michael. Which is why his SON PLAYS HIM NOW. I didn't even listen. Heard it then. That was enough. The brothers stayed mad at him because they relied on HIM for money. Janet was jealous everyone always asked her about michael.

OK here’s what supposedly happened and I get my information from some books I read one including an 800 page biography, so I don’t know how much is true, but this is what it said. There was some producer or engineer. I can’t remember that Jermaine was going to use for something. And Michael stole them away for something. Michael was working on the other interesting thing is that Michael once this song was out there had all the radio stations pull it out, so that’s probably why I never did well in the charts And I for one I’m glad he did. Jermaine has no morals Jermaine not only cheated on Barry Gordy‘s daughter who was his wife. It was twice with two different women and then they both had babies by him and then somewhere in that mix he dated Randy’s ex girlfriend. And no one can tell me that he wasn’t always mad that Michael took over as the front man.

I don’t think it’s jealousy. The family knew Michael was the superstar. Maybe there was a money squabble (Jermaine mentioned “pie”)? Did Michael change Jermaine’s royalty agreement since he left the Jackson 5 early in 1975? From what I’ve heard, Jermaine is the glue that held that family together. I’m sure he loved his brother, but this song was very disrespectful.

Given the absolute toxic family situation all of the Jackson kids came from, this song is no surprise really, although I don't recall hearing it back in the day. It certainly cuts to the bone about how Jermaine felt about Michael, though. No one can tear family apart like family. Makes me wonder if Jermaine knew anything about the little boys that Michael was abusing at Neverland during that time frame even though he doesn't allude to it in this song.
With that said, their father was an abusive asshole who exploited all of his kids for fame and money - the ultimate toxic narcissist and their mother was the classic enabler. It's no wonder those kids grew up to be so messed up.

I mean he's saying that his brother loved by the world could not let him have a career because he might not be able to see any of his brothers gain success. This probably was a real thing going on in this family that the world didn't want to acknowledge because they love this superstar too much to believe he could be petty or cruel but we the world didn't truly know this person and how he lived his life sometimes when people get that large in life they do forget family, true love, friendship, they always bring up that Pepsi situation but when he was accused of crimes against children his family were right there maybe some of them didn't want to be but they were even if you think they were for an opportunity they still showed up and I really hope it was because in the end they all love him regardless of the opinions of the world.
