We might use "gomo" jokingly among close friends and ourselves gay people, but when straight people use it, especially if they are NOT close friends, it can sound very rude and offensive sometimes. As a gay man, and maybe from an older generation from your home country, I suggest a friendlier and more respectful term: "angi". It's a super fun and neutral term that is much better than "gomo."
