History of the peacock in 1956, NBC adopted a Little Peacock. That had rainbow feathers. It was the mascot until 3 years later, the Snake logo came in. It took its place for 3 years and it came back. for the last 13 years, it was a war. and... the Peacock won. 1 year after the event, N showed up. for 4 years Peacock was ignoring the N. And in 1979 They became friends. "How about combining us two in the logo?" N said. Peacock said, "sure!" for 7 years, they formed a team called "the proud N" And In 1986, N Retired. So Peacock had to stay by himself all sad for half a year. Today, NBC is one of the most Famous TV Channels. And it's because of one little Peacock. 🦚

The only people who saw the Microphone logo in 1944 were US soldiers. There were very few TVs in NYC in 1944. The US government had a moratorium on commercial broadcast TV because of the war, though they let some experimental programming continue in New York. This logo was in an Army film, meant to show soldiers changes in the US once they were demobbed; that things like television would become more available. This was an sample logo, not one that anyone with a TV in NYC saw. It's interesting to see what companies like NBC were thinking about how to brand themselves, so it does have a place in their history. WNBT eventually became WNBC and is still on today in NYC as Channel 4. In 1944, it was Channel 1.
Even the 3-noted chimes gives us the creeps. I listened to it right after I finished listening to every episode of “Phil Harris & Alice Faye”, “Fibber McGee & Molly”, “The Great Gildersleeve”, “Jack Benny” and so many other radio shows where the NBC tone sounds eerie to my ears. It gives you nightmares after listening to every radio show.
Yea, when I always went to sleep. They always played those don dun dun and it sounded like it was gonna kill me in my sleep. Now that I think about it. All NBC Idents Are creepy and or weird
Logan Swartz And speaking of creepy and weird, there was another voice that you hear at the end of NBC’s “War Bond Parade” radio special from the 1940’s during WW2 where a voice was saying “Buy, War, Bonds”. That voice was pure nightmare fuel.
A question for the channel owner: Is there any remote hope of digging up the NBC promotional bumpers for THE SAINT, 1967-69? If memory serves, they were in the NBC-TV 'Snake' font, with a light-blue background. Any help or further information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the post!
