Ethan covers gossip so how is that exploitative, especially when he gave an open invite to all victims? Platforming victims if they want the opportunity when you’re already covering a story that everyone else is also covering - that is suddenly wrong? Like wut. Adam has been attacking Ethan because he’s been trying to get on Trisha’s good side lately because she’s been doing very well. That hurts Ethan’s feelings because they’ve been great to him behind the scenes. Adam even begged Oscar and got him on a podcast last week. Adam is thirsty. He’s a nice kid, but he’s thirsty and willing to start making digs at Ethan constantly because he sees a more lucrative angle via Trisha. He’s not an angel. I’ve subbed to him for years but his extreme social climbing and willing to throw anyone in his way under the bus has gotten crazy.

I actually think the conversation around Ozempic NEEDS to focus more on manufactured scarcity and for-profit motive healthcare. Unless all of Hollywood is hoarding Ozempic, I am very skeptical that their consumption alone is creating shortages. Lots and lots of drugs have been in shortages specifically because of drug manufacturers attempting to recoup costs since COVID.
THIS!! The ozempic issue is not a result of the celebrities (or anyone else who can afford the exorbitant price). The manufacturer has created artificial scarcity to keep the price astronomically high! If it was made widely available for people who rely on insurance to pay for it, and insurance will only pay x amount of dollars for it (because they can say it isn’t crucial for the patient, since other types of diabetes medications are available) that means no ozempic for you. Its just a result of the for-profit healthcare in the US
I completely agree. I have been working in a pharmacy since Ozempic and wegovy (and mounjaro and zepbound) came to market and we’ve never ONCE had a secure, reliable stock of them. It’s been years. Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk are MASISIVE pharmaceutical companies. They could have ramped up production to match demand but they seemingly didn’t.

I've been a pharmacy tech for almost eight years & I gotta say, your explanation of how the Ozempic buzz had a harmful effect on people who actually need it was spot on 👏🏻 the insurance aspect, the prior authorization aspect, all of it.
It's not just the use of ozempic by the rich, it's also a scarcity manufactured by the producers of the medication, which, I believe, they've already been called out and gotten in trouble for before. That being said, the subject of rich people using resources not meant for them because vanity/entitlement/relevancy is something that should be discussed more in general, in my opinion, and is something that should most definitely be criticised.
I will give some insight into pharmaceutical manufacturing to say that they absolutely want to produce more but getting the facilities to do so across multiple countries isn’t a trivial endeavor.
It also has to with rich people driving up the prices. It’s simple economics, demand causes scarcity & also causes the manufacturer to charge exorbitant amounts. It’s currently in the thousands range & I personally know someone who literally has to go to several pharmacies just to stay alive. So the role celebrities play in this health crisis should not be downplayed.

Ethan Klein needs to grow up and stop consuming Adam McIntyre’s content, especially if it triggers his anxiety of taking oxempic. Personally, my opinion, if you’re rich or poor and you have access to something that helps you, that’s great. Also, my opinion, if a wealthy TH-cam podcast host publicly struggles with his weight and openly body shames himself repeatedly, and then suddenly starts losing weight, telling people that it is only due to diet and exercise, when it’s in fact NOT only diet and exercise, I find that deeply disturbing. I get people carry shame, but it is irresponsible to only model shame when you have an audience of grown children.
Tbh the assertion “just be happy when anyone loses weight,” is problematic in itself, as weight loss in itself isn’t inherently positive. A lot of chronic illnesses including EDs, autoimmune conditions, and GI issues can result in rapid weight loss. Thinner doesn’t necessarily equal healthier, and that assumption can be detrimental to folks struggling with weight loss due to illness.
I don't care for either person. Calling it "ozempic shaming" is not it for all the reasons you explained. But also the tendency to jump on "they're on ozempic" whenever someone appears to have lost weight is also not it. The thing with anything health related is that you can't possibly know the specifics unless the person in question divulges that info. they put my mom on ozempic bc she's a type 2 diabetic. she lost soo much weight and she was only slighty overweight. she can barely walk up the freaking stairs now. she hardly eats anything and when she does she gets sick. she's not even on it anymore! and it's got her that messed up. it definitely contributed to her disordered eating too. she had issues with it before but she's full on anorexic now. i genuinely think my mom will die from complications related to this sooner than she should. she's in her 50s and my 80yo grandmother is in better physical shape than her. like, my mom can barely walk through the grocery store. that shit is so so crazy. and i know it has benefits and can be a great drug but people are wayy too casual about it! but either way great video and totally not a big deal to say "shane dawson ozempic?" 😭 ethan is the one giving mean girl here

I'm on Ozempic because diabetes (with pcos that affects insulin resistance, and my labwork was not great). Been on it 3 months and I'm 30lbs lighter but even better is all my bloodwork is improving. My cholesterol is all now in normal range when three months ago it was all high… my sugar levels are better. So for me it was great. Nothing else has ever helped me get better lab results nor weight loss like this has.

I’m someone who had rapid weight loss from an ED and people were so impressed all the time, it was terrible AWFUL feedback. I can’t imagine how rapid weight loss with or without a drug fucks you up. I guess the part that irks me is Adam calling out what Shanes body looks like. I just dont think with a platform that Adam has he needs to call out what someone body looks like. It feels a little bit like body shaming- like a damned if you do or damned if you dont in regards to losing or gaining weight. I think with such a large focus on weight gain and loss in media, i dont think that Adam needs to call that out. He should mainly just stick to his own work and ignore the outside. Persoanlly, i have been on Rybelsus- a form of ozempic for close to 8 or 9 months. I needed to lose weight so that i could eventually qualify to get a kidney transplant further down the road. Because of this i have lost a total of 70lbs which i have noticed the health benefits from and my ability to move more and the such. But with this drastic weight loss, i have also noticed the constant compliments from others about the weight loss. And it doesnt really help the other emtoional tolls that i have struggled with. Like i have been a binge eater forever but also went through not eating phases and have other medical conditions that basically prevent me from losing weight naturally. I just think the constant focus on weight whether we lose it or gain it back is just toxic and not helpful. I in no way support Shane either but when people feel the need to point out changes in someones body it just feels toxic and unsupportive
I think it's important to remember that since being overweight is what causes type 2 diabetes, anyone you think may not be diabetic who is taking it, very possibly is. Not everyone discloses their diabetes status, nor do they have to, plus a lot of people are prediabetic without realizing it. Also, even if they weren't right now, it can be seen as preventative. People shouldn't have to make themselves sick enough to actually have diabetes in order to take medication that can prevent them from getting that sick in the first place. Also, it can be seen as binge eating disorder recovery medication. So it's strange that people are being told they are making it harder for diabetics/those who need it to get it, when they need it too. It would only be a problem if thin people who aren't diabetic, don't have any worries of becoming diabetic, and don't have binge eating disorder were to be taking it. It is disgusting that it's even legal for medicine to cost anything though, as that should be a human right for all people regardless of class status.
There are other ways to lose weight. That's the problem. A lot of people who buy it themselves and are taking it for weightloss are doing it for the easy way out. That's not what the drug is for. Using Ozempic for BED is treating a symptom, not the problem. BED needs to be treated on a psychological level, not physical. Ozempic is a very extreme drug, that can cause many long term issues. It's not to be taken lightly if there is another way you can lose weight.
@@plumdutchess I've been listening to those people talk about what it's like and what motivated them to do it, and it doesn't sound like the easy way out at all. You still have to eat right and exercise in order for it to even work because it doesn't just melt the weight off but rather causes you to change your habits, and the people who are doing it are saying it was a last resort for them because they tried to do it on their own for many years and it wasn't working. I have BED. The physical effects of BED need to be treated too, because not doing so is deadly. Plus, stopping "BED brain" as I call it, the voices in your head compulsing you eat junk food, is part of treating it on the psychological level. BED is essentially food addiction. Imagine if there was a medication to stop a heroin addict from feeling like they have no other choice but to do heroin due to their brain is screaming at them that they need it. That's how Ozempic works for food addicts. Our brains tell us we absolutely have to go out and eat a pint of ice cream right now or else, even when we know we shouldn't and that it's bad for us. Ozepic gets rid of that feeling.

First of all, I wanted to share that I was standing in my bathroom with a toothbrush in my mouth half naked, getting ready for bed and all of a sudden you told me I look great not gonna lie. I think Ethan likes to think that he’s an ally but he’s done a lot of questionable things and a lot of questionable things about the LGBTQ community. Also as someone who takes a stimulant for ADHD and struggles when she can find a place that has it and had struggled for years with insurance not wanting to cover it because at the time the brand didn’t have a generic version it frustrates me to see meds that are actually used to help people being abused because it makes it harder for me to receive my meds and I literally struggle to process without them

I started Ozempic about 2 years later than I really should have for my Type II purely because it was SO expensive. Celebrities who need it, please partake. Weird take from Ethan. There are legitimate criticisms of how people lose weight. Lighter isn't always healthier and the way they get there is also not always healthy.

I can’t imagine being a type 2 diabetic and being handed insulin. Insulin is such a dangerous medication! I’ve been figuring out my doses for 24 years and it’s STILL such a learning process. Hormones are effected by so much, so one insulin dose for one meal one day working great could leave you dangerously low the next. So yeah, costs aside being on insulin is a big deal.
So he either took hard to get expensive medication away from people who actually need it OR he started walking a few months ago and didn’t stop and promoted that unhealthy level of exercise to his viewers - so either way, ew shane.

I'm a trans man and am considered morbidly obese, and I just had my consult for getting top surgery. My plastic surgeon said that I should be able to have it in six months IF I'm able to lose fifty pounds. I'll be frank (not Reynolds), I have pretty severe agoraphobia and C-PTSD, which makes it damn near impossible for me to go on walks or to a gym without struggling with panic attacks or anxiety, so losing weight has proven to be difficult organically. I'm seriously considering asking my PCP about Ozempic, and I don't think there's any shame in it for people like me who are very overweight, like you said... I really hope I can even manage to get it now that I know how hard it is to get as a normal person. If I can't because of how celebrities are abusing it and I can't meet the requirements for the surgery, my dysphoria as the rest of my body masculinizes more and more on T is going to continue to get even worse... And that is a scary thought for me and my mental health. Fuck the rich... Let's eat 'em. (But that would probably be bad for my weight loss journey 😂)

If anyone is a mean girl, it is Ethan. I used to watch him during the thing with keemstar, but as time went on and he got a bigger following he got a bigger ego along with it. I've had an ED for 25 years now and I'm currently a lot heavier than I used to be, because of burnout and bed rotting. The sick part of my brain really wants to go on Ozempic. I've learned not to trust that part.
Ozempic isn't allowed to say that it's for weight loss because it's not FDA approved for it. I would guess that that is in progress but it also can take years and etc was on the market for decades before they finally were passed by the FDA as a migraine medicine. In the early '90s my neurologist was like try Exederin It's not official but we know it's effective with a lot of migraines. We didn't have triptans (think imitrex) back then. It was here's your heavy drugs. Go find a dark room and wait for the pain to subside The blinding world altering pain.

I actually think the conversation around Ozempic NEEDS to focus more on manufactured scarcity and for-profit motive healthcare. Unless all of Hollywood is hoarding Ozempic, I am very skeptical that their consumption alone is creating shortages. Lots and lots of drugs have been in shortages specifically because of drug manufacturers attempting to recoup costs since COVID.
THIS!! The ozempic issue is not a result of the celebrities (or anyone else who can afford the exorbitant price). The manufacturer has created artificial scarcity to keep the price astronomically high! If it was made widely available for people who rely on insurance to pay for it, and insurance will only pay x amount of dollars for it (because they can say it isn’t crucial for the patient, since other types of diabetes medications are available) that means no ozempic for you. Its just a result of the for-profit healthcare in the US
I completely agree. I have been working in a pharmacy since Ozempic and wegovy (and mounjaro and zepbound) came to market and we’ve never ONCE had a secure, reliable stock of them. It’s been years. Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk are MASISIVE pharmaceutical companies. They could have ramped up production to match demand but they seemingly didn’t.

I've been a pharmacy tech for almost eight years & I gotta say, your explanation of how the Ozempic buzz had a harmful effect on people who actually need it was spot on 👏🏻 the insurance aspect, the prior authorization aspect, all of it.
It's not just the use of ozempic by the rich, it's also a scarcity manufactured by the producers of the medication, which, I believe, they've already been called out and gotten in trouble for before. That being said, the subject of rich people using resources not meant for them because vanity/entitlement/relevancy is something that should be discussed more in general, in my opinion, and is something that should most definitely be criticised.
I will give some insight into pharmaceutical manufacturing to say that they absolutely want to produce more but getting the facilities to do so across multiple countries isn’t a trivial endeavor.
It also has to with rich people driving up the prices. It’s simple economics, demand causes scarcity & also causes the manufacturer to charge exorbitant amounts. It’s currently in the thousands range & I personally know someone who literally has to go to several pharmacies just to stay alive. So the role celebrities play in this health crisis should not be downplayed.
We are eyeballs deep in a class war. The only way through it is unions and co-ops. Class solidarity is necessary and works.

Personally, my opinion, if you’re rich or poor and you have access to something that helps you, that’s great. Also, my opinion, if a wealthy TH-cam podcast host publicly struggles with his weight and openly body shames himself repeatedly, and then suddenly starts losing weight, telling people that it is only due to diet and exercise, when it’s in fact NOT only diet and exercise, I find that deeply disturbing. Tbh the assertion “just be happy when anyone loses weight,” is problematic in itself, as weight loss in itself isn’t inherently positive. A lot of chronic illnesses including EDs, autoimmune conditions, and GI issues can result in rapid weight loss. Thinner doesn’t necessarily equal healthier, and that assumption can be detrimental to folks struggling with weight loss due to illness.

they put my mom on ozempic bc she's a type 2 diabetic. she lost soo much weight and she was only slighty overweight. she can barely walk up the freaking stairs now. she hardly eats anything and when she does she gets sick. she's not even on it anymore! and it's got her that messed up. it definitely contributed to her disordered eating too. she had issues with it before but she's full on anorexic now. i genuinely think my mom will die from complications related to this sooner than she should. she's in her 50s and my 80yo grandmother is in better physical shape than her. like, my mom can barely walk through the grocery store. that shit is so so crazy. and i know it has benefits and can be a great drug but people are wayy too casual about it!

I'm on Ozempic because diabetes (with pcos that affects insulin resistance, and my labwork was not great). Been on it 3 months and I'm 30lbs lighter but even better is all my bloodwork is improving. My cholesterol is all now in normal range when three months ago it was all high… my sugar levels are better. So for me it was great. Nothing else has ever helped me get better lab results nor weight loss like this has.

I’m someone who had rapid weight loss from an ED and people were so impressed all the time, it was terrible AWFUL feedback. I can’t imagine how rapid weight loss with or without a drug fucks you up. Having people commenting on your body is a whole load of problems that the ozempic discussion hasn’t even caught up with.

I was a huge H3 fan for a long time, they honestly got me through the panorama. But, as time went on, especially with the end of Leftovers, I realized how unintelligent Ethan really is and how he bases so much of his worldview on ill-informed takes that are basically just his knee jerk reaction to stuff, and I just can't respect somebody who moves through the world that way, especially when they have a platform that is so huge and so influential, albeit far less so in recent years. I will occasionally watch his takedowns of idiots like that one NXIVM cultist who was faking his stuttering and pretending like Keith Reinerie fucking cured him, but other than that, I'm good.

It’s obvious Ethan has some kind of personal vendetta against Adam. He’s constantly trying to find ways to come after him. And don’t even get me fucking started on the fact that when Ethan found out Adam WASNT being creepy to his mom, he said “what a shame.” So disgusting. He’s just looking for a fight.
I guess the part that irks me is Adam calling out what Shanes body looks like. I just dont think with a platform that Adam has he needs to call out what someone body looks like. It feels a little bit like body shaming- like a damned if you do or damned if you dont in regards to losing or gaining weight. I think with such a large focus on weight gain and loss in media, i dont think that Adam needs to call that out. Now this doesnt mean that i think Ethan went about commenting on this in a productive manner. I do agree that he is too old to care about what Adam is posting. He should mainly just stick to his own work and ignore the outside.
Persoanlly, i have been on Rybelsus- a form of ozempic for close to 8 or 9 months. I needed to lose weight so that i could eventually qualify to get a kidney transplant further down the road. Because of this i have lost a total of 70lbs which i have noticed the health benefits from and my ability to move more and the such. But with this drastic weight loss, i have also noticed the constant compliments from others about the weight loss. And it doesnt really help the other emtoional tolls that i have struggled with. Like i have been a binge eater forever but also went through not eating phases and have other medical conditions that basically prevent me from losing weight naturally. I just think the constant focus on weight whether we lose it or gain it back is just toxic and not helpful. I in no way support Shane either but when people feel the need to point out changes in someones body it just feels toxic and unsupportive

I think it's important to remember that since being overweight is what causes type 2 diabetes, anyone you think may not be diabetic who is taking it, very possibly is. Not everyone discloses their diabetes status, nor do they have to, plus a lot of people are prediabetic without realizing it. Also, even if they weren't right now, it can be seen as preventative. People shouldn't have to make themselves sick enough to actually have diabetes in order to take medication that can prevent them from getting that sick in the first place. Also, it can be seen as binge eating disorder recovery medication. So it's strange that people are being told they are making it harder for diabetics/those who need it to get it, when they need it too. It would only be a problem if thin people who aren't diabetic, don't have any worries of becoming diabetic, and don't have binge eating disorder were to be taking it. It is disgusting that it's even legal for medicine to cost anything though, as that should be a human right for all people regardless of class status.
There are other ways to lose weight. That's the problem. A lot of people who buy it themselves and are taking it for weightloss are doing it for the easy way out. That's not what the drug is for. Using Ozempic for BED is treating a symptom, not the problem. BED needs to be treated on a psychological level, not physical. Ozempic is a very extreme drug, that can cause many long term issues. It's not to be taken lightly if there is another way you can lose weight.
@@plumdutchess I've been listening to those people talk about what it's like and what motivated them to do it, and it doesn't sound like the easy way out at all. You still have to eat right and exercise in order for it to even work because it doesn't just melt the weight off but rather causes you to change your habits, and the people who are doing it are saying it was a last resort for them because they tried to do it on their own for many years and it wasn't working.
I have BED. The physical effects of BED need to be treated too, because not doing so is deadly. Plus, stopping "BED brain" as I call it, the voices in your head compulsing you eat junk food, is part of treating it on the psychological level. BED is essentially food addiction. Imagine if there was a medication to stop a heroin addict from feeling like they have no other choice but to do heroin due to their brain is screaming at them that they need it. That's how Ozempic works for food addicts. Our brains tell us we absolutely have to go out and eat a pint of ice cream right now or else, even when we know we shouldn't and that it's bad for us. Ozepic gets rid of that feeling.

First of all, I wanted to share that I was standing in my bathroom with a toothbrush in my mouth half naked, getting ready for bed and all of a sudden you told me I look great not gonna lie. I think Ethan likes to think that he’s an ally but he’s done a lot of questionable things and a lot of questionable things about the LGBTQ community. Also as someone who takes a stimulant for ADHD and struggles when she can find a place that has it and had struggled for years with insurance not wanting to cover it because at the time the brand didn’t have a generic version it frustrates me to see meds that are actually used to help people being abused because it makes it harder for me to receive my meds and I literally struggle to process without them

12:31 I’m a type 1 diabetic, so my diabetes is autoimmune and I literally make no insulin. I can’t imagine being a type 2 diabetic and being handed insulin. Insulin is such a dangerous medication! I’ve been figuring out my doses for 24 years and it’s STILL such a learning process. Hormones are effected by so much, so one insulin dose for one meal one day working great could leave you dangerously low the next. So yeah, costs aside being on insulin is a big deal.

I'm a trans man and am considered morbidly obese, and I just had my consult for getting top surgery. My plastic surgeon said that I should be able to have it in six months IF I'm able to lose fifty pounds. I'll be frank (not Reynolds), I have pretty severe agoraphobia and C-PTSD, which makes it damn near impossible for me to go on walks or to a gym without struggling with panic attacks or anxiety, so losing weight has proven to be difficult organically. I'm seriously considering asking my PCP about Ozempic, and I don't think there's any shame in it for people like me who are very overweight, like you said... I really hope I can even manage to get it now that I know how hard it is to get as a normal person. If I can't because of how celebrities are abusing it and I can't meet the requirements for the surgery, my dysphoria as the rest of my body masculinizes more and more on T is going to continue to get even worse... And that is a scary thought for me and my mental health. Fuck the rich... Let's eat 'em. (But that would probably be bad for my weight loss journey 😂)

I would guess that that is in progress but it also can take years and etc was on the market for decades before they finally were passed by the FDA as a migraine medicine.

I just went to watch the commercial after you talked about the jingle. As a non American it still baffles me you have casual commercials for literal medication that requires a prescription. The warnings at the end are eerie. "Do not take with this or that, do not take if you have this or that." That's what health care professionals are for. To see if you can safely take a drug. Scary.

Adam and Ethan have both given me bad vibes for YEARS. They both seem kind of vindictive and vapid. I hope people stop misusing Ozempic and other drugs that people really need. Shane Dawson has binge eating disorder so would that be misusing ? I'm not sure. I don't think Adam was Ozempic shaming directly, but I think he was shaking Shame for it. Like when person A doesn't like person B so they make comments about insecurities they might have even if ordinarily person A wouldn't feel any type of way about those things on their own.

My wife & mother in law both had to switch off Ozempic (and then Wegovy) for this scarcity bullshit, and it is absolutely a brutal medication to get onto AND go off of. It can cause withdrawal symptoms, and while it helped them both, the adjustment period was awful. It still doesn’t sit right with me that I had to watch all these people close to me go through that because Profit Healthcare. While the joke of asking if someone is on Ozempic in the first place bothers me personally because of that, at no point was Adam’s initial tweet offensive or even shaming anyone. It’s a common joke. MAYBE an “oh that’s kind of annoying, I didn’t like that” moment at WORST. It’s one hell of a reach to go off on THAT tweet of all things. (Full disclosure I am a fan of Adam generally, maybe this joke didn’t land for me but that is a ME thing. Does Ethan really have nothing better to do than be mad.)
