I have no idea what to say, I am in awe. Just finished watching this for the first time before the live stream today. So much can be learned and remembered from this story. I have already. Amazing talent and passion put into this project. Thank you to everyone involved in making this adaptation, and especially to Alex Kain and Rachel Bennett for creating this wonderful story!
I don't know what to say. You did an amazing job putting this all together mate. This was just so epic to watch and I was so invested in the characters & story brought to life with the voices and music. Any my role as Clovis, wow. This might be one of the biggest projects I ever voiced in. I just want to say thank you so much for making me a part of it. I hope the story does get continued one day and if you ever need voices for any future projects, just let me know.
Luke, you were an EXCEPTIONAL Clovis, I can't find or think of another that can top your performances. Thank you for your awesome contribution towards the project and it's been a pleasure having you on board for this incredible journey!
whenever a film, game, song, book, whatever the fuck it is, has the hairs in the back of your head stand on end throughout its near entirety, that's when you know they did something really nice. admittedly, I still follow the comic and catch up on it every once in a while (though not as frequently as I'd like), but one has to recognize true talent when he or she sees it. kudos to you, Elson, and to Alex and Rachel as well, of course!
Oh wow, what a compliment. Thank you Mirukuamondo, this was truly an awesome experience and one that I hope to revisit (of the same series) in future. :)
@@TheCart54321 Yep, they've updated quite a bit from where the movie ends. In case you haven't found their website yet: www.westerndeep.net/ All the best!
Ah! That was well worth the wait. I am completely engrossed in the story now, if I wasn't already. I wanted to wait until after I saw the movie before I read on any further, but anyway. This was spectacular, and so was the cast and their voices and the music and the editing and let's not forget the comic itself. You have introduced to me another great webcomic for me to read on Friday nights, so thanks. And it feels even better knowing that you enjoy it. This entire production has to be one of the best fan projects I've ever seen, and has been so far the highlight of my year. Great job, Elson! You've done it again. ;)
Wow. I don't think you can top what you said there, thank you so much TheRebelLion96. It's comments like these that put a big smile on my face and to confirm that I have done the job with justice. ;) Super happy to hear your thoughts mate, thank you for sharing!!
Thanks for giving it a watch, Cody! Your compliments and feedback are much very appreciated, especially given the fact that you're also highly talented in your VA and audio work! I'm glad to have introduced you to this series!

Fantastic to know! Thanks for sharing your feedback! It was a real pleasure hand-pickin' the best I could get for a cast. Putting everything together was a real treat. Would love to do it all over again - but for now I'm going to take a well-deserved break. ;) Mind me asking which cast member brought you here?
Wow Elson, this was such a great film you made. The sounds, the voice acting, the music, they fit so well. If there was an Audiobook made for this story this is how it should sound like. Keep up the good work Elson.
Heya Aaron D! Many thanks for your feedback and positive words of support on the work I've done thus far! I also saw your comments on the recent BEASTARS Live-stream 21 but it's missing/not showing on the link for some reason. O.O; Nevertheless your comments are much appreciated!
Hey Elson, this is Aaron D, wait did you saw the comment I made in Beastars Livestream #21 because if not I can try to rewrite it here in this video. Also I just recently got a TH-cam account so I think there is some problems with the comments, but thanks for the response Elson. 😃
That was quite an experience. Well done to everyone! It's amazing that you were all able to accomplish this. This project looks like it was a hefty undertaking, and you all saw it through. Keep it up.
Dude, these are literally some of the best audio projects on TH-cam!!!! I wouldn't have even known about half of these independent comics if you hand't brought them to the screen (in a way). The presentation is superb and it feels like I'm watching a professionally produced movie instead of a TH-cam video. Now, if you'll excuse me... I have an appointment beyond the Western Deep.
Why thank you Zero Logic This kind of compliment is extremely rewarding as it tells me that I have served the purpose of getting more people to invest their time into these comics - the artist's and their stories. ;)
HUUUUUSH you're interrupting the movie! (Seriously though keep this up) Hey, I saw you did a Dreamkeeper's project or two... Dreamkeepers the Movie coming...?
Ha ha...! :D Yeah the Dreamkeepers: The Movie project is comin' along great! Hope to released it before I head to the United States for a holiday in October.
Oh wow, this was absolutely increadible! Despite only having stationary comic panels to work with, it was very fluid and movie-like, and I loved your use of music. All the actors were spot-on. I'll be sure to check out more of your work!
Why thank you Sarah! This is my most recent and one of my most proudest works of this kind. :D Glad you really enjoyed it and it was an incredible experience to have the company of talented and committed VA's. It was also a blessing that the creators are cool to have me work on something like this! ;)
DANG SON!!!! Gotta read this comic now! Sooooo good! Loved every performance. Also way to go Rory, I had no idea you were doing this (then again we havent talked in a while). Food for thought though, (I preface this with I loved it and this is sort of nit picky) It's sort of weird having a lot of characters have varying accents, but for no particular reason, like maybe each tribe had an accent, but they seemed to vary greatly in tribes and it was a little distracting. Again I cushion this with praise cause I seriously loved this. I would love to see more of this series, and many more from this channel!
Aww thanks Flrry98! And thank you also for attending Movie Night - I believe I saw you there! Glad you enjoyed the production and thanks for the feedback!
Seeing this again for who knows how long, and it is still a DAMN good comic movie. Still sad that Elson ain't doing it anymore, but he sure dose a damn good job of doing, no pun intended, quality dubs.
So I found this on my TH-cam feed just today, and I gotta say that I was knocked out of the friggin’ park by this! The characters are compelling and the world is grand, and each voice is perfect! It left me wanting more, and I’ll definitely be reading the comic because of this. I do have to ask though, are you guys planning on doing a sequel to this? Doesn’t matter if it takes years to happen, I just want to know IF it’ll happen.
Thanks for the kind words. Recording for this was a tremendous experience and it's fun to come back and find that people are still enjoying it. Elson does have tentative plans in place for a sequel once volumes 3 and 4 of the saga are complete. It will indeed be a few years before it happens but when it does I know it will prove worth the wait.
Omg that was absolutely AMAZING! Speechless - which you wouldn't think was at all relevant considering I'm typing, but - woah. Yep. That about covers it. Going to go and pick up the assorted pieces of my mind now. Thanks!
I've allowed myself a few days to consider the movie as a whole before I wrote down my impressions of it as well as the overall experience I've had working on the project. There was so much going on during the premiere that I really needed some extra time and another private screening to fully collect my thoughts. And now that I have I can present those thoughts here. Let me start by saying that I had never heard of "Beyond the Western Deep" until the day I came across the casting call for the movie project. I was intrigued by the character art and descriptions and decided to go directly to the source (the BtWD website) for additional reference to aid my audition work. After reading through a few pages I was quickly drawn to the story and decided that Alex and Rachel would have gained a new follower whether my involvement with the movie project came to fruition or not. Fortunately for me, Elson Wong, the producer heard potential in my audition for Ashtor and gave me a few tweak notes. I adjusted my performance to be more in line with what he had in mind for the character and I was cast in short order. Working with Elson has been unlike any other experience I've had with project directors in the past. Many times with projects like this the process is quite impersonal with very little real communication between performers and producer (record-send lines-the end). Elson however invited the cast to be a part of the entire production process by hosting Skype consultations, posting numerous updates, sharing insights into his methods and welcoming new ideas and critiques. As a content producer myself, all of this was intriguing to me and it was refreshing to feel part of a team rather than feeling like a cog in someone else's machine. Through casual conversations I was introduced to other series that I now regularly follow such as 'Dreamkeepers" and "Lackadaisy" to name a few. I'm very grateful to have been introduced to these exciting stories I may not have otherwise stumbled across on my own. Even more importantly, this sort of communal production process allowed me the opportunity to meet and interact with some very talented individuals. Elson of course, who I now consider a good friend, and the rest of the cast including Fairfieldfencer and Limroto who both ended up joining my own project's cast. After hearing about my positive experiences behind the scenes one might think that going into the movie itself, my views would automatically be biased in favor of it. However, I don't believe that to be the case. I feel that even if I had not been a part of the production process my takeaway feeling after watching would be the same: and that feeling was that is an awesome movie. As I mentioned before, the story of "Beyond the Western Deep" is brilliant on its own to begin with, but having it in movie form adds even more layers of excitement and pure emotion. First of all the movie has fantastic music. The music used in each scene serves to enhance the atmosphere and mood of the webcomic and each piece feels very natural within the flow of the movie. There are some places where the music is used to great effect to dictate the pacing of scenes (Quinlan's musings about his Grandfather, Hardin & Ashtor's discussion on the mountain and the climactic battle) and it truly evokes emotion. Ambience and sound effects are masterfully used to bring the world of Dunia to life, my favorite spots being the tavern scene and the battle in the storm. And of course, the other element the movie brings to the story, the voices. Elson brought together an impressive array of talent and I believe every single member of the cast deserves praise for their performances. Even minor characters are bustling with personality and it's clear that a lot of thought went into each performance. Three performers in particular deserve an exceptional amount of praise, those being the voices of the main protagonists: Rory, Wolfblade and Fairfieldfencer as Quinlan, Dakkan and Kenosh. Each of them had a moment to shine throughout the duration of the movie and they each took full advantage of the opportunity by delivering their lines with tangible emotion and verisimilitude. The lighthearted moments between Quinlan/Dakkan and the father/son interactions between Dakkan/Kenosh were played very well. I'd also like to bring attention to new original artwork that Elson created for the opening credits. Beautiful, beautiful landscapes that capture Rachel's art style convincingly and help transition the movie from prologue to opening scene. They're all a joy to behold and I hope they will all be made available as separate pieces because they would make fantastic wallpapers. Being part of this project has been an exciting ride from beginning to end and I can honestly say that I've enjoyed every moment of it. I consider voicing Ashtor to be a highlight of my VO work. He's an interesting character who was fun to develop a unique voice for. My only regret is that his inevitable conversation with Kenosh didn't come sooner. (Could you imagine how much fun a conversation between Hardin/Ashtor/Kenosh would be?) I thank Elson for his never ending supply of energy and enthusiasm and for allowing me to come along for the ride and contribute. I very much look forward to seeing where future projects go and if I am fortunate enough to be part of any of them I'm sure the journey will be just as enjoyable. And as Elson suggested in the credits, may the inspiration continue to be spread to anyone with the creative spirit and desire to create admirable works such as this.
Thanks for posting this Josh, as I have requested from Skype - I didn't want this amazing feedback to dissapear into the digital blackhole! lol I'll say it again man, it's feedback like this that I never take for granted - and on top of that I can consider this a highlight on it's own throughout the entirety of the production. Couldn't ask for a better analysis, as well as your praise on my work, management of relationships with the cast and creator, and commitment to the project. Thank you. And yes that would be an interesting situation to have Hardin, Ashtor and Kenosh having a conversation! ;) All the best with your future comic drama and voice-over projects, you're on par with the pros!
Thanks! Hopefully in a few month's time! Also in about 5 hours I'll be postin' a new motion comic - featuring the awesome Lackadaisy series! It's gonna be a lot of fun!
Hi Elson, this is Aaron D, I’ll be commenting on this video because for some reason my comments aren’t going though your livestream videos. I just wanted to make sure if you saw the comment I gave to you on the recent Beastars livestream 21 because that comment has a heartfelt message I want to give to you and your friends. I don’t want to be an annoyance to you or bother you if you are busy right now but it really means a lot to me if you can read it. Respond back to me if you see this comment and tell me if you saw the comment but if not I’ll rewrite it to you here.
Heya Aaron! Yeah unfortunately it went away when I deleted the video - since that was a test run! All good, many thanks for responding back and checking to see if your comment went through. I really appreciate the words of encouragement and support!
Oh please tell me you're already working on a second movie. The ending was unexpected and took me by surprise. Captain Kenosh had to do what he did though, the general was out of control.
Mua ha ha! Glad you enjoyed it! X3 We'll have to wait for Alex Kain and Rachel Bennett to complete the next part of the story! :D I'll only cover a second movie when Books 3 and 4 are complete! ;) For the time being you should check out their awesome "Songs of the Eastern Sands" story - this time it's illustrated by the talented Jerome! www.westerndeep.net/comic/song-of-the-eastern-sands-title/
That was the best motion comic movie I've ever seen since Nordguard, have you ever played a video game series called Ratchet and Clank, which has adapted into a comic miniseries of 6 comic issues, the video game franchise also adapted into a CG animated movie, maybe you ought to make a motion comic movie of the Ratchet and Clank comic series.
What the?? How come I didn't this comment before?! Thank you so kindly for your feedback Blake! I have heard of Rachet and Clank but sadly haven't played the series yet. = ) Perhaps I'll have to one day! For the time being do check out the latest announcement I made two nights ago: th-cam.com/video/VzFKYYi6GLI/w-d-xo.html If you are into voice acting or know someone who does and would like to get involved in my next "The Movie" project just send in your auditions to my e-mail via darkspeeds@hotmail.com Thanks again Blake!
That's quite a story there! ^_^ I'm really wondering how this is going to pan out, though... hope Quinlin's going to be okay, and also that somehow a reasonable peace can be established where the Ermine get a better deal than what this unbalanced treaty has left them with... :/
I hope so too DCLeadboot. Sorry for the late reply - your comment also didn't pop up on my Google account for some reason... Blimey! X_x; It'll be interesting to see how the story unfolds in Chapter 3... What's going to happen to Quinlan and Dakkan? Will they be set free or held under house arrest?
That is a great movie. Elson Wong, if you are hearing me, please make a movie from the comic Legend of Spyro Zirra's Return, or Zonoya's Revenge. Please? I bet you can do it.😃🙂🙂😀😁
First and foremost - THANK YOU! :D And secondly, of course you can! We're just waiting for Chapters 3 and 4 to come out first though - which may take the next 5 years! ;)
The chapters of course! :D The project was an incorporation of the first two chapters. At this point in time "Songs of the Eastern Sands" is the current story being update atm, whilst Alex and Rachel will be getting Chapter 3 ready soon! Do check out their website when you get the chance ;) www.westerndeep.net/

(Could you imagine how much fun a conversation between Hardin/Ashtor/Kenosh would be?)
I thank Elson for his never ending supply of energy and enthusiasm and for allowing me to come along for the ride and contribute. I very much look forward to seeing where future projects go and if I am fortunate enough to be part of any of them I'm sure the journey will be just as enjoyable. And as Elson suggested in the credits, may the inspiration continue to be spread to anyone with the creative spirit and desire to create admirable works such as this.
Thanks for posting this Josh, as I have requested from Skype - I didn't want this amazing feedback to dissapear into the digital blackhole! lol
I'll say it again man, it's feedback like this that I never take for granted - and on top of that I can consider this a highlight on it's own throughout the entirety of the production.
Wish this could continue.
Can't wait till the next part~
SWEET. this is just amazing, but I was wondering when dreamkeepers will be out?
Thanks! Hopefully in a few month's time!
Also in about 5 hours I'll be postin' a new motion comic - featuring the awesome Lackadaisy series! It's gonna be a lot of fun!
+Elson Wong Awesome I'll be sure to watch!
This is so well done! Do you have plans of continuing with the new chapters as they come out?

As soon as Chapters 3 & 4 are ready I'll evaluate and consider the prospect! ;)
@@qualityfandubs awesome!!
Why did it have to end like that is there more to it or what?
The exiling of the Ermine tribes sounds a lot like the story of the Forsworn in Skyrim.
Oh please tell me you're already working on a second movie. The ending was unexpected and took me by surprise. Captain Kenosh had to do what he did though, the general was out of control.
Mua ha ha! Glad you enjoyed it! X3
We'll have to wait for Alex Kain and Rachel Bennett to complete the next part of the story! :D I'll only cover a second movie when Books 3 and 4 are complete! ;)
For the time being you should check out their awesome "Songs of the Eastern Sands" story - this time it's illustrated by the talented Jerome! www.westerndeep.net/comic/song-of-the-eastern-sands-title/
I definately will thank you
That was the best motion comic movie I've ever seen since Nordguard, have you ever played a video game series called Ratchet and Clank, which has adapted into a comic miniseries of 6 comic issues, the video game franchise also adapted into a CG animated movie, maybe you ought to make a motion comic movie of the Ratchet and Clank comic series.
What the?? How come I didn't this comment before?!
Thank you so kindly for your feedback Blake! I have heard of Rachet and Clank but sadly haven't played the series yet. = )
Perhaps I'll have to one day! For the time being do check out the latest announcement I made two nights ago: th-cam.com/video/VzFKYYi6GLI/w-d-xo.html

Thanks mate! Glad you liked it!
Thank you ! This is all I need to say ^_^
That's quite a story there! ^_^
I'm really wondering how this is going to pan out, though... hope Quinlin's going to be okay, and also that somehow a reasonable peace can be established where the Ermine get a better deal than what this unbalanced treaty has left them with...
Darkspeeds voiced London in Nordgaurd

I LOVE this and can't wait to see more!
Is there any chance I could audition for a future role? As an Ermehn, a Lutren, or a Canid?
First and foremost - THANK YOU! :D
And secondly, of course you can! We're just waiting for Chapters 3 and 4 to come out first though - which may take the next 5 years! ;)
Elson Wong The chapters themselves or the voice-acting?
The chapters of course! :D
The project was an incorporation of the first two chapters. At this point in time "Songs of the Eastern Sands" is the current story being update atm, whilst Alex and Rachel will be getting Chapter 3 ready soon!
