It’s a gas trap that limits your vision when you enter its range. He can choose which traps are active at any given time, however, so not every trap is gonna be active.
the thing is basically a proximity alarm that acts like a smoke instead, except none of the smoke ops can actually see through it and it gets removed the same ways a flashbang can

I like that there are now external walls on consulate I feel like there was previously no way to get directly into the second floor without there being someone holding an angle onto a random barricade or skylight that you happen to be going in
The map will make so many people mad, but tbh it looks so much better. I love basement the most

I hold the extremely unpopular opinion that consulate is a great map and doesn't need a rework. I've been playing siege since 2016, and it has stayed one of my favorite maps all the way until now. RIP old consulate ):
Played in the beta and first 4 years or so. Coming back lately, I don't really like the direction they've gone with maps. Having a few labyrinth maps is good variation. Reworking every map into a labyrinth is monotonizing gameplay. They don't feel as much like unique experiences the way they used to. The only one that IMO was actually BAD was Favelas... but the rework took it too far and just stripped the map of all its originality. Looks like most that were touched afterwards got the same treatment of less dangerous soft walls, less peeking, less runouts, less outside-inside interplay, less angles to worry about, less brutal lethality. House was wild as hell and fun and now the old experience just doesn't exist anymore. Plane forced a very different style of play. Now we're being forced further and further into a more strictly defined set of styles, as I see it.
Pulling Secure Area and Hostage completely out of comp wasn't a great move either, IMO. I can understand why pros prefer bomb competitively but SA and Hos in the rotation meant a much wider variety of strats to suit a wider variety of challenges. Quick play does not offer the necessary competitive environment for those strats. Even if bomb was far more heavily weighted in the rotation, just having the occasional SA and Hos round thrown in would really break things up and keep it interesting.

@@XS_Overlord I dunno where this "worst" map in the game thing comes from. Consulate is pretty solid, just needed some tweaks for the top floor mostly. There's a reason its been untouched for 8 years lol.
@@Bat0541 it's not a great map tbh, basement can be unwinnable for defense if the plant goes down and there is so many spawnpeeks that the attack needs to watch. The new rework will hopefully play better
@@zacharyfayant5717 I disagree, I think Basement is great, I think the worst area is the top floor, mostly because of all the entry points that require repelling.
