    I am also not a writer. I see the world in pictures and patterns not in words. I always struggle to write a letter or greeting card so I make a card and pour my love into the art. I’m so impressed that you share your art. You are a true artist. When you are finished with a project you are planning the next one. I am always proud of my students when they give away or sell their work. Blessings from Canada 🇨🇦

    Ohhh, these... there are no words for it! Awe. I am in awe.
    Also, very much looking forward to more organizing methods. I don't know why, but I'm loving the idea of ephemera, papers, scraps, etc... all being organized - and not the loose way I have it now (a bin of "papers", a tin of die cuts, etc... all randomly scattered together. Frustrating... i tried doing it by rainbow (red, orange, etc.., neutrals, and metallics), but... I never thought to go futher & try to match them to my ink colors! (Part of my frustration with the Rainbow method was/were the "in betweens", like pinks, teals - and STILL digging through 2, sometimes 3 different spots to find papers that went with one ink color!... but organizing that paper to color coordinate with inks? Omg, genius.)
    You are a genius and my hero for the way you came up with the color swatches and then expanding on that!

    • @kandrews6356
      @kandrews6356 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed... organization is key, and unfortunately may weakest 'link'. I can always use organization tips.
      P.S. One thing I have discovered in my complete reorganization makeover... what I am trying to STOP is taking something out of one place (that didn't belong there) and going to the 'proper' place and THEN, end up reorganizing the proper place, and then it became a repetitive process and getting nowhere. NOW, (trying) to have a 'doesn't belong there basket/box/(whatever I have) and I decide one one area or thing I'm going to reorganize. Whatever doesn't belong in that area, I put in the 'doesn't belong' box. Once I'm DONE reorganizing that one area, I take the 'doesn't belong' box and put those items in the place where they should belong. One thing at a time! My theme.. "a place for everything, and everything in it's place.

      @abigailphoenixthepaperaddi2501 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @K Andrews OH! That is a great idea! I'm neurodivergent, and boy do I understand that issue of "well, this doesn't belong here. Let's put it away. Oh, look... as I put this away, I see that... That needs to go over with THAT stuff, not THIS..." and before I know it, I've gone 3 hours and it looks worse than before.
      One spot, one thing to tackle and organize. One extra box to toss "doesn't belong to this" stuff into. No getting distracted by moving away. This is GENIUS. I only wish I had thought of it, lol.
      A bit back, I took a couple days and divided stuff into piles, that went into totes and boxes. You know, general categories. Papers, tools, etc. I didnt get further (health), and now I am staring at the boxes, having drug my feet on dealing with them (overwhelming, you know)... and I know that, in the meantime, as I have found other stuff (cutouts from junk mail, envelopes, etc), I have kinda shoved it into the boxes - but I'm pretty sure I messed up and have extra stuff that doesn't belong in them, too. Between being in pain and knowing how fast an attempt at organizing gets out of control... well, i couldn't figure out HOW to tackle it without returning to a giant mess.
      Thank you. You gave me a HUGE IMPORTANT key that I couldn't find. I just need one more (smallish) box/basket/tote for "you do not belong" stuff.
      🏆

      @@abigailphoenixthepaperaddi2501 Thank you so much and Congrats. That 'doesn't belong here' box has to just stay there until you organize that one sport (don't try to organize the 'doesn't belong here' box too... LOL). AND, I know what you mean having divided things into separate boxes. I've tried that too. You pointed out the problem with that method because if you get away from it, then you can't remember what you started, Plus, then you've organized by putting the things in their boxes, and you have to organized each box (like another organization)... like organizing numerous times.
      I too am a believer in 'what works for you' because we all have our own method. :)

      @abigailphoenixthepaperaddi2501 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @K Andrews yeah... thats gonna be the struggle, not touching the "doesn't belong here" box, but... with just the one box, it'll be easier for my innate stubborness to control the distraction... maybe. I hope... it does help when I limit things... so, crossing fingers. Lol

    Hello Luise! It was magic to watch you perform your color alchemy. Also it is so generous to share your thoughts during your process. Very cool. I feel this is my first viewing of your videos, not counting your announcement that you accepted the maker invitation from Tim Holtz. I look forward to more of your posts! Cheers to you!

    This was a good instruction for how to use color to help include ephemera, so thank you. I am impressed again by your color swatches and how they work to organize and assist in choosing. I used to think it was a waste of time to make them but now I’m convinced to do it even with my limited stash 😉

    Well Luise you have finally done my head in! Just watched Roxy 0:04 Creations with Rachel doing her paint swatching- all ok there - until she went to use them! All I could think of was of your Timmy swatches and that she should be using the right colours and how was that going to fit into a journal!! It makes me realise that I like to make the whole journal similar to you, and that I don’t necessarily like mass making as things don’t fit/ match etc

    OMGoodness... when you tore the piece with the butterfly, it suddenly became the top of a dragonfly... LOL. I've been wanting to work more with fabric, especially some old denim fabric, and you had given me some great ideas. I like that you sell your journals... they are such wonderful works of art. Having one of your journals near when I'm stuck for ideas/inspiration, would be such a helpful aid
    For you it was 'pinks' that you didn't really like and took a little while to accept... for me it has been purples. I have a tendency to lean toward pastels, grungy colors, and especially SW colors (rusts, turquoise/teal, browns, black, etc.) and purples don't/didn't fit in. I too have accepted purples more. TFS

    When you dye the fabric would there be a different effect if you wet the fabric first?

    • @luiseheinzl

      The ink would probably spread easier and you wouldn't get so much white space
