Thanks for acknowledging how awesome Eli's subtle lighting design is for this. Prevailing fan theory seems to be that the original is warning people about something that will happen, the Disturbed cover is angry that it's happening and no one is caring, and Geoff's version is sadness that it has happened, tempered with a bit of hope that people will listen and not let it happen again. There are so many background sounds happening, coming in and out, as the chorus voices do later, dropping out when needed by the lyrics. The lead vocal hits that B♭4 while the backgrounds are handling the other high tenor and bass parts. Interesting note: The last verse was originally shot as a 360° tracking shot, but they did one last version of the verse and went with that instead.
Thanks for the reaction. Interesting as usual. SoS has been.one of my favourite songs as well, for over 60 years by now. Geoff does it very well.

Shout out to Eli for the lighting and Layne on Steady cam
Yes it would be a choice. He was entirely alone with a piano in High and Dry, so he makes very definite choices.
What does "I give Geoff the W for this arrangement" mean? (2:16)
