Del....THANKS for documenting and recording ALL your music...if you just played all this by yourself without the camera running...we'd all MISS this incredible and inspiring music!!!! Thanks Again...!!!!!
Awesome Del, I am on my first Cigar Box Build and buying parts from CB Gitty including Shane Speal Signature Tuners, Been enjoying your videos and I am building for my first just a 23 inch scale using Glenn Watts inspired by Shane Speal instructions but doing upgrades and also using a couple of your ideas, Your a very inspiring guy with alot of Awesome Ideas and a Great Player I can see also. I have been into Glenn Kaiser since about 2008 and my cousin got me thinking on the cigar box guitar and once I started really looking into it I started finding all you guys out here that are not only Great Musicians but Fantastic Builders also. Keep up the Great Videos Man, I will share my build when I'm finished, It has been alot cheaper then playing guitar but I will never stop Jamming my guitar but I am Inspired from the cigar box guitar and starting to build them. My taste for music is changing again been back into my reading my Bible and since I am now 55 I need something new in life instead of just Metal music but have always liked Blues / Rock also and I think I will really dig the Cigar Box Guitars and learning to build them. I found a very cool cigar box (Balboa Natural / Las Cabrillas ) with a Pirate Ship for 5 bucks my maple neck at home depot enough maple for 2 necks for $7.50 I might have 20 bucks tide up into it right now that's with a piezo pre wired to the input jack also I'm waiting on parts from CB Gitty right now but I think this will be very cool when finished. Thank You Man God Bless Marc Brown Barnhart, MO
When I saw this, I was actually playing with a Punch box CBG I converted from one of those cheap Hinkley made BBG guitars I got off Amazon. I love your enthusiasm in these videos.
Love the sound of the guitars. Everything played on here would make great songs. I’ll particularly try emulating from 12.11 onwards. They progressions sound really good and seem just within my grasp to try and play as a beginner. If I work on them I might be able to convince my family during lockdown that I’m actually ok at CBG instead of them holding their head in their hands every time I pick the guitar up! Thanks for the vids.
My first CBG was a Punch that I made shortly after seeing one of your videos. I think it was the _"The versatility of the 3 string cigar box guitar"_ video of yours that had popped up in my recommend feed... I had never heard of cigar box guitars before, so I was certainly curious-I just had to find out more. Thanks for bringing me into the world of CBG's, Del. PS. For side fret dots I like to burn them in with the head of a deck screw that's been heated up with a torch. Robertson head screws make a neat mark in the wood that people don't seem to recognize at first lol
From 13:20 onwards....did I really just hear that? WTF! I know CBG's can be quite versatile with only 3 strings and I'm currently collecting parts for my first build...(Got my Macanado!)......But that was something else! Blown away! ... Might be a while before I'm playing that!!!!
I was in target looking for something in Clarence and I walk in one ial and ther was evey tool I need to build a C B G guitar so I am going to start caleting them
How do you decide string guages and tunings. Is there a formula between scale length, gauge and tuning ?? As you seem to tune G or E with heavier gauge 44,34&26 And D with 30,22&14 Many thanks John I’m 67 and about to retire and learning to play and build these guitars would be a great hobby to pass my time. 😆😃😃👍👍👍 I am working my way through all your vids Regards John
So, you were a master guitar/cbg player before you were a master guitar/cbg shaper? Or is it the opposite ?!!! (Ça sonne trop bien mon poulet!!! Merci)
Hey. I finished my guitar but the strings scrape the frets down the neck from my fingers. I figure I have to raise the strings, but wonder if I should do it at the head or the tail? Or both?
G'day Dell. I just wan't to say mate that it is bloody hard to watch you open your box of parts from Gitty and you get a free cap. I have spent the best part of $2000.00 with Gitty in the last three months and all I get to show for it is a couple of Gitty stickers and a couple of buisness cards. To give you an idea Dell I just brought a Gitty freet set and by the time I get it here it cost me $256.00 AU for some thing that only would cost you $96.00. It really sucks. I would love to get some of the great stuff they give you guys for spending half as much as I have to spend when I get some thing from them.
i got a cheap fender style guitar neck ..went full ham with a belt sander to make it narrow.. and its got a truss rod ..ok the 2 inlay dots on the 12th look a bit daft..but so what..who cares

20" scale? Near-uke? Nice!
it's becoming my favorite scale length... very Goldiloxy...

Del, I need some help. I cut some slots a little wide on my fretts board. Any suggestions to fix it? I was thinking putty plus glue.
Love the sound, have you considered or already made an album ??
in my past life i was a guitar player....
