I read it 40 plus years ago as a young man. All three volumes are gripping from beginning to end, don’t just read the abridged version. It has influenced my life politically more than anything except the Bible. Its a little dark and depressing you wont walk away with a high view of human nature but thats the sad truth about human beings we are fallen and unfortunately it is in the political realm where this truth is sometimes the most obvious and dangerous. All of his works are excellent and worth reading.
I'm cracking up because I ended up listening to "Gulag Archipelago" on audio as well even though I'm staring at the book now; amazing work. I sent the audio book link to friends and a couple of them actually listened and enjoyed it as well.
Thanks for your input on this book, read about a half of it a decade ago, was heavy emotionally to finish it. Your video made me want to go back and give it another shot!

I read this book when it was first published and to this day I still vividly remember this passage read by Dinish.
I read it when I was 17, I didn't know the significance of it at the time. Now I do of course.

The abridged version and Jordan Petersons analysis are moving
A Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich was required reading at my (public) high school in the early-'80s. I sincerely doubt that is still the case.
I have that book.
