An important take-away for me is to realize that many of the hurtful comments from others are simply a result of them not being able to handle the discomfort of the unknown; not being able to neatly box your story into "explainable" sections.
I know you mostly talk about destructive marriages. Which most of my marriage has been, and i been trying to stay well. Leslie, i know you briefly mentioned before in previous videos about grieving the loss of a 25 year friendship. Well, that is pretty much what I'm going through with several people i was friends with. And to add to that, my church isn't supportive either. I never felt so rejected and alone in my life. I'm definitely need to do a better job at guarding my heart. I would appreciate any prayers as I navigate a new path to make new friends and places where i can meet new people. Thanks🙏❤
Same here. My ex was so angry and he would say subtly awful things about me to our children and his family and when I would confront him he would calmly say well its the truth and you divorced me. He would include me then exclude me from family events purposefully. It was like he was jerking me around on a string. I would think oh he wants to get along and then he would do something to emotionally wound me. This caused years of agony.
@@kaylees1072 I like how Leslie V. talks about projection in an atypical way. Most of the time, projection has a negative connotation (projecting our own negative qualities onto someone else). But projection can be poisonous from a positive standpoint as well. Projecting our legitimate goodness or having-an-actual-conscience onto someone who really is just a snake-at-heart can have disastrous results. For a covert-narcissist (that's what your description of your husband sounds like), it takes awhile for normal/sane people to even register that another human being can have such a high comfort level with hurting other people. But on some level, he's obviously messed up: "hurting people hurt people."

I also was a midwife for many years and left a huge, supportive community to live more rural, our husbands sound like the same guy, I homeschooled for 20 years and have been trying to homestead for many of those.

I am currently having serious Spine and Thyroid health issues that just started this year. I've learned from listening to some of your videos that it's got to be related to my abusive, toxic marriage. I really, really need Conquer because I am physically so drained and it's hard to even make healthy choices on my own, I have been trying to maneuver thru the health care system here in Mesa, AZ and between that and the stress of my marriage I had lost hope until one 9f your videos popped up under a Joyce Myer's video. If anyone reads this, please help me, I guess I need to know when I can next sign up for Conquer.
