Thanks for the tutorial dude, super easy to understand. New to this but love making the liveries. I've had this doubt, is there's like decal packs or something similar for livery creation, where do modders get their decals/stickers? For example, TAKA, Design Magic, N-Style etc.... Thanks!!
Multiply the AO on whatever you put in there instead of the other way around (and also do this for the body). If you create a group under it, it will apply too all layers in it rather than just whatever is just under it. Edit: Don't forget to flatten the layers before exporting.
VERY late to the party, but I just picked up a G29 and AC (still MUCH to learn there....), but in the couple of online races I tried (I was VERY bad) I saw some very cool liveries and decided to try my hand at making one. Your video has by far the clearest instructions and explaining the 'why' - not just 'click this button because I told you to!' Thanks for sharing!
ac needs something like what iracing has "trading paints" so that everyone on the track can see you're livery other wise whats the point if only you see it?

Be sure that you have all the layers merged to the backround layer. Usually if you start from your top layer and merge down to the backround you will be fine.

Sorry for the late response! It would depend on what format your body paint is in. It will either be PNG or it will be DDS. You just need to be sure to export it from gimp in the correct format. Easiest way to check is to go into content manager showroom, right click on the body of the car and over to the right side where you calculated the AO, it will tell you which format it is in. I hope this helps! I will be doing a new video soon showing how I do liveries now. I do them much differently now than this video shows.

Jus an fyi for me if i download the image from content manager(the render) i use png to edit on gimp,then when im finished designing i redownload the livery as dds.instead of using a duplicate

If it is showing in showroom but not in game then I would think that it would be something to do with the extension folder. Not 100% sure but that would be my first look!
2:35 There is no third version mate. You are just switching back and forth from the existing and the generated AO Texture Map. LOL. The first one is the Generated, the second is the existing and then you went back to the generated. LOL.

@@dimrocksosabby2553 The AO layer only defines how glossy and reflective the surface is. I think more likely the car has a texture inside its skin folder overriding what you are trying to create.
There is a DDS plugin that can be installed or you can just save the AO map as a DDS and a PNG and use Gimp to apply the livery to the PNG and then when exporting it save over the DDS file that you saved as well and it will overwrite the DDS save. If you install the plug-in then you will be able to open the DDS but the way shown in the video is just the easiest way we have found to do it! Hope that helps out!!

Sorry for the late reply! But if the cars mapping doesn’t look like it does in the video then that means the car need to be put into blender to have the body remapped. I am going to be releasing a new video or a series of videos teaching everything I know.
Make sure that you have it all moved into one layer in gimp. If you have done that then be sure to remove the png of the AO map of your car and only keep the dds that you exported from gimp in the skins folder. After that click your update previews button and you should see it in showroom. If this does not help then feel free to join ADL discord and I will hop in a voice chat with you and you can screen share so we can find a solution!

Our pleasure!! Glad that I was able to help out! As for as your question, sometimes gimp can be weird and frustrating to deal with especially when trying to create your own designs inside of it with the tools. We use an alternative software named Affinity to make the designs because they come out with much cleaner lines, see the ADL Elite pack that is linked inside of our discord for reference, but if you do not want to have to buy a software or already have them then what we would suggest is to make designs and shapes and coloring in a different software that you may already or even at paint.net which is free and then open it in gimp already premade and then size it and shape it for your car. Hope this helps!

Make sure that you’re running the latest version of CSP and also make sure that you have all of the mod tool installed!

Yes you can! If it had been uv mapped then you should be able to

Hi can you use gimp or Photoshop to make livery's for carx drift racing online
So sorry for the late replay, I’m not positive but I do not believe so. I think CarX liveries are done in game if I am not mistaken.

Yea it is! We used gimp for the longest time. We use a different software now that suits us better.
