This work is being remastered by Sony Masterworks for their "Prophets of the New" Vol.3 series. Should be available by Spring 2014 It is the RCA issue from Bruno Maderna! It is not the same version as is posted here (actually I think this is NOT what it states. The RCA version is different and is 10:38 in length.)

The "Llanto por Ignacio Sanchez Mejia" is one of the greatest elegies of the history oh poetry. It is also a desolated love poem. Federico Garcia was perhaps the greatest poet of the XX century, as Rilke and his "Duiniser Elegien" . were arguably the best of the XIX century, No music, however bright and complex, would translate the desolation, the sense of loss, of lost love, of anguish before death. Nono score is adequate in his perception of loss, of angst, of horror, of incredulity. Of course music is a different sort of language than spoken or written symbolic language, but it is an appropriate translation to the world of feeling. A nice trial.
