Does not pack well and the little rubber bands that come with it done hold the side wings close well. Also for various sized canvases you may have to reposition the tripod mounting bracket. If I were to give it a score from 1 to 10 I'd give it a 6. The other thing is customer service- not the best.
Hello, would you let me know whether the plexiglass comes out for cleaning? I see that you've made this video 3 years ago - is the easel still intact? Not broken I mean? What problems/issues have you had with it so far?

Hi Sierra, thank you for watching our video. Could you tell me what other boxes do you consider purchasing? We have tested the majority of all available easels on the market and I can compare the Daytripper easel with any other easels. The material is not that great - just light wait wood painted over. But surprisingly the durability is A+. I'm personally using this easel for the past three years daily and I dropped it many times and it still working fine. I think the key to it is that the box is very light and with a minimum of mechanisms (knobs, screws, etc.) that normally break. That is why we recommend this easel. When you're selecting what easel to buy I would recommend looking at these points (which will help you select the proper box for you): 1. What is your medium (oil, watercolor, acrylic, drawing, etc) 2. The average size of the panels you are normally painting (12x16 and smaller, or14x18 and larger) 3. Are you normally standing or sitting when you paint 4. Do you hike long distances to find the spot or you paint close by your car 5. How much equipment and accessories do you use (lightweight - one small backpack, or large backpack and another bag or roller) If you can answer the above questions I will gladly help you select the right easel. Vlad Duchev thanks for the help! I’ve also been looking into the Coulter easel. They both seem simple, very portable and offer plenty of mixing space. 1. I use oil and acrylic but prefer oil. 2. I usually paint on homemade 8” panels when I travel though I would like to go bigger, maybe 12”. And would like to accommodate up to 36” for at home use though I know that’s pushing it. 3. Sitting and standing. I also paint in my home studio which lacks proper ventilation so I often have to move my easel & equipment outside when using oils and solvents. A major reason I’m considering day tripper and coulter for mixing and workspace and portability 4. I have a couple pochade boxes that I made from cigar boxes and added some friction hinges which works for short hikes or car side painting. I have 2 small children so I rarely go on longer hikes but would love a lightweight option if I get the chance. 5. I like to keep my pack as light as possible. Preferably just a backpack I can strap my tripod to A Light, portable, simple, sturdy, compact setup with a large mixing/work space that is reasonably priced. Ideally I would like one system that could do all of this if such a unicorn exists Lol. Thank you for any advice you can offer! I may hold out for the month to see what you guys have in store also!
