The sytrus growl itself is being modulated from within sytrus, and the vocal sample, through vocodex, adds additional modulation tone possibilities as your standard FM Sytrus setup is going to be limited to two or three tonal positions.
I used sidechain compression from the kick onto almost everything else, including all the basses. EQ was also used, differently on each bass.
I actually don't use panning spread with choruses when I put them on bass. The main bass in the second drop, for example, has its stereo presence from a Reverb channel.
It's a first gen i7 870 2.93 quad core. It's actually pretty old by current CPU standards. When I build a new rig in September I'll be getting one of the newer Ivy Bridge models.
When designing the drop sections I started with just four measures. When I have what I like, I copy the whole thing and then make every element "unique" so I can edit them anew. Do that enough, it starts to add up :]
I started using producing music (started with FL 4) in 2004. That was back in high school for me :]
You can group different channels, all patches and sounds should usually be in the "unsorted" section. You can switch between groups in the drop-down menu at the bottom of the step-sequencer.
I have learned A LOT from watching your videos! Frequency Modulation finally makes sense to me, and I'm beginning to make the gnarly bass stuff that has confused me for years! Thank you so much for doing what you do SeamlessR, you know a lot of stuff and I appreciate your effort to share your knowledge with the rest of us.
people, this man has done something for all the noobs out there, and its so awesome. he has given us secrets of main steam bass music production.
you are definitely one of the best FL users i have seen. you should be a power user. For me, someone who has been using this program daily for the last 7 months, its been both inspiring... and very intimidating, to watch this video. how long have you been involved with music production? i can only hope that some day i have as much of a grasp over this as you do. im still young, so i guess i have a chance. but theres so much to learn...
i felt like i knew a bit about making music since ive been doing it for years but he makes it sound so more advanced.
It wouldn't be hard to recreate the carrier in FM8. However, I'm not really familiar with other vocoders other than their own basic on state. And you can send me a PM through youtube if you need to.
Drop of the sounds are awesome.. Great..
This video made me look at Sytrus in a whole new way. Thanks for that
I'd say the loudness war has been over for a long time :] I will say I do lack mastery of drum production for this genre of music. But I always want my music to be heavy. Always :] Thanks for your comment.
It's a preset in Harmor
Awesome!

I figured it out! It was the damn settings on logitech keyboard and mouse app. i went in and reset it to default settings and now the mouse pointer turns into the hand. Thanks again SeamlessR!
This track gives some serious serious serious SERIOUS vibes.
BTW, that track is awesome! Is your music available for download or purchase?
Damn dude, you're on a roll!
I think I speak for everyone when I say thank you so much for this extremely valuable information.
nice man, i can tell its a big part of your life haha. hopefully i can stick with it that long, i love every bit of it but im only 18 and of course all the self educating is pretty daunting haha... do you think you could maybe to a tutorial over the automations you used? i often see a lot of automation in pro productions that i dont understand too well. do you think you could go over the ones in here and just give a brief explanation of the practical uses of such automations?
"I, however, happen to like it this hard." 17:30 -Seamless
Haha... Love you Seamless!
can u try re create the basses with fm8 and other vocoder ? i m on mac but ur sounds are really awesome, also how can i private connect with u ? hv some business offer.
Wow you really got some skills. I was always wondering about the PC you use, what are the specs ? :)
Will a free FLP be released? :o
Also, when I'm making my tunes, I often get stuck at the drop, I never have a slight clue how I want my post-drop synths to sound, or which order to place them.
Wow.. I watched that entire thing... I have a lot to learn... Great job on the song, amazing as you only used vanilla fl.
I'm "Seamless" but "Seamless" is almost always taken as an account name on whatever website. So when it is, I use "SeamlessR"
okay, so your modulating the sytrus growl with the vocodex? whats the "oohh yeahh" sample for then? thanks man.
When you were going through each part in the main playlist, you clicked and dragged to view different sections, how did you do that? Ive been using the bars on the side of the screen and the scroll wheel. -___-'
Hmm, when i center click, a hand icon doesnt show up, but a magnifying glass with a + sign instead. I tried looking around to see if it was a setting on Windows 7 or specifically on FL Studios but couldn't find much. -___-' would you happen to know?
Do you ever explain how you use the vocal samples as a modulator? I've been scanning through your vids and I just don't see anything at all about it.
Hey Seamless, I'm a very big fan of yours and appreciate all your videos, especially your How To Bass Series. I tried to copy your 'Pew pew' Sound which simply sounds marvellous! Though I'm sure I did everything right it sounds completely horrible. So I wanted to ask you, wether you could make a little step by step tutorial for this little 'Pew pew' :) Maybe as a little fill-in while we are all waiting for a new How To Bass Video ^^ I think everyone would be thankful for this!
How did u make all the automation clips not show up in the pattern bar? I my songs my "step sequencer" or pattern screen is always cluttered with automation clips which I don't want to see. Is there a way to hide them so I only see the actual patches/sounds? thanks
Watched the whole tutorial, and I could not find what you used for your synth? I'm not sure if it's called a synth in english. It's the thing that you start the song off. The melody. I've been playing around with FLS for a while now, and I cant seem to find something good for a melody, like a synth or something. I've tried piano, and modifying it, but it never sounds as good as a professional song. Can anyone help me out?
My automation clips are messed up in the sense that i can only move points on them up and down but not side to side. can someone please help me?
yay my two favorites.. htmem and seamless! when are yall goin to collab? >=D
I'm just curious, why are you working with patterns like "112" and "48"? How do you get that many patterns? :O
I love you seamless talented
Hey Seamless, how did you put each drum onto a different mixer insert in one Groove Machine plugin? :O
Is there a how to bass where I can learn how to make that VBT bass at the second drop?

I've only ever had the hand show up. I don't know whats up :\

Your videos are so insightful! :)
yeah, now after nearly a year I bought the flp and could understand better how he made that sound, but at that time I didn't have a clue
what's your cpu spec's? I might up grade soon because my computer can't handle projects like this.
How did you get that filthy - toby emerson sound?

I never understood psychoacoustics before right now (or Im just really stupid), but something really weird is happning to Sytrus. I set Sytrus to its default preset. Im playing the key C3 in Ableton, which by the Spectrum it says it's about 520 Hz. First, I have this volume wheelbarrel (Logitech Orion Spark G910) and when Im changing the volume while Im playing the note, I get this really weird scratching/itching sound... INSIDE my head. The clicking/scratching sound probably comes from me having my Output Buffer Size too low, so the sound processor goes into hyperdrive and dies (No idea what Im talking about right now). Its weird, but fun. Also, when I play at that frequency, and if I concentrate towards my PC-fan, it sounds clearer/louder. Funky stuff!
Great video, SeamlessR!
Captain out!
You'r damn cool bro

***** Sure man, that what we all say...
I hope you have enjoyed watching this video, b.. What was that lol?
You sound nervous in these old videos, compared to today's videos.
6:10 Fail moment :P
Goddamn it I'm not an FL user
SYTRUS WAAAIIIII
this is....house...
0:04 = Boring.
0:06= O__O
When he talks he actually makes my brain hurt lol
i dont like your music...but i think you have knowledge...i can only advise - produce drums better especially the kick part, and use compression in smaller amount...loudness is not good, 99.9% of people think loud track is well produced because its LOUD and i has A LOT of bass in it...Thats simply not true...SAY NO TO LOUDNESS WAR !!! keep it simple
Well.....That was anticlimactic.
