You should have more gap around the penetration in the back tray to allow for expansion and co traction. 2-5mm, so you can caulk and add a DekTite on top. Decent work, also you should pin the piece, then pre drill all the rivets, then blow it out so the surfaces have no shavings. Then apply silicone to keep the silicone clean and pure from any foreign particles. Underseal and over seal.
