I have a funny story. I once fell down my stairs and dislocated my left shoulder. I had my neighbor drive me to urgent care after showing him, at the time what I had thought was a broken bone, but was a dislocated shoulder. They could not give me any strong painkillers. During X-rays they asked me to flex my shoulder muscles (yes, that was beyond agonizing) to get good images - then, my doctor spent the better part of an hour trying to reset my shoulder. Right as I was about to give up, he popped it back in place. The level of, "OHHHHHHHHHH" was nothing short of amazing. I fell back on the table with an enormous sigh, sat up, feeling the normal motion of my shoulder, and tried to give my doctor a hug. He was scared at first due to me not giving any indication of what I was doing, but quickly realized I was just happy that he had significantly reduced my pain. It was extremely funny for both of us and I was put in a sling immediately after. Either way, I'll never forget the "gentle" way to relocate a shoulder. And will hope that I will always have someone that does it the quick and painful way. An hour vs 15 seconds isn't something I'll condemn.
@@cherryblossoms85 Yes! We are with one doctor per shift, go with doctors into their visits with patients, and take notes. Then we create a chart in the electronic medical record, put all the information in, and send it to the doctor for approval.
My friend was on a little island in the Cook Islands and her foot swelled up. There was no puncture or bug bite or anything but it was very full. They went to the ER who told her that the doctor had already gone home for the day, all that was left was an emergency dentist. She figured "may as well" because at least dentists can write painkiller/anti-swelling etc meds. So he drained her foot - copious amounts of fluid and said she needed to get to a better hospital ASAP. It was their last night anyway so she came home and the hospital said that the dentist saved her toes, probably her whole foot and possibly her life.
8:12 a very good example is if a patient is combative and restless and tries to remove the iv fluid lines and interrupts the treatment that’s being given to them the nurse can and has to restrain the patient and then document and create the medical order after notifying the doctor I’m a nurse so that’s why I know
The 2 stories about passing out in ER and going to the front of the line and the one about law enforcement reminded of this story. Back in 2003, my (now late) wife and I were at the hospital to see a specialist. We're in with the doctor and the receptionist knocks and comes in and whispers something in the doctors ear. Doctor says you have to go back to the waiting room, NOW. As we walk out 2 police and 2 corrections officers lead a man in an orange jump suit and shackles into the doctors office. So if you want to get to the front of the line, show up with 4 armed guards and chains.
I had to get the medication to stop my heart. It felt weird but didn't hurt. It was like everyone was talking real slow for a few seconds and then was back to normal. It was so fast I wasn't aware my heart stopped a few seconds.
I tend to mentally prepare myself for a lot of things because I've gone through similar situations. Usually it's bullying or harassment but sometimes it's the passing of someone even if I didn't know who they were
10:49 yea abd this is why hearts are full of pride, i get that you cannot be emotional less you miss somthing , but common killing your emotions is exactly why people lose compassion in the first place you can at least show compassion (which is emotional) and if you fail there then you will lose all compassion and eventually suble pride will form in your heart
We have a lot of different people who speak different languages in Florida especially central Florida. We have translators on standby at the two main hospitals. We actually have a Persian translator oddly enough. But mostly Spanish, Chinese (mandarin, Cantonese, and Fujian), French, German, Japanese, Thai, and a couple of African languages.
When i passed out in the ER, I hit my head. Not only did I get moved to the front of the line, I got a helicopter ride to another hospital where I also got to be first in line.
Hello Doctor Wagner. Do you have any tips or a video for seasonal allergies so I can show my friends? Every spring they have back to back sneezing fits borderline non stop. They annoy me like hell sometimes.
What happens when resources are unavailable, like saline solution being limited due to the hurricane in North Carolina earlier this year? I need to have an MRI every six weeks and an infusion every two weeks, but I’ve noticed that I no longer receive a consistent supply of saline solution.
I was in the hospital a couple months ago in Upstate SC and was extremely dehydrated when I got there. They didn't finally give me saline until a couple days later because of the shortage.
This is just dark humor. When we have a patient with extreme supraventricular tachycardia and we give adenosine... I'll admit we bet on the time the adenosine will make its full effect. Yes, we do have a very dark humor; we will treat you like the most important person in the world, but as soon as we get you to an ER, we'll do rock paper scissors to determine who cleans the ambulance. PSA: If you want to become a paramedic, which is a beautiful career, don't worry about the blood, or the beeps, or the bumps on the road while you try to put an IV; train yourself to withstand poop and vomit because you'll see quite a lot of that.
I had both my ankle and shoulder dislocated at different incidents and Boy let me tell you I had them popped back in with No meds or blockers or Anastasia and let me tell you.. I wish I had all 3 lol.. The pain was bad but did not last long thankfully only like 20 mins or so after they were put back in ...
The hospital I'm at uses the pink panther for incoming trauma calls. Its changed the way I feel when I hear that song. I've always felt they should use Black Betty instead.
The restraining one happened to me…. I was brought to the hospital with a head injury and then transferred to another one far away. I was laying down and a short older nurse came in and touched my head, my reflexes my hand went to where she touched and my arm bumped hers and soon I had many in my room holding my legs arms and body for a reason I had know idea , but it hurt bad them doing that. All I no is I woke up in a room and suffering, so I tried to get up and figure out where I was and I must of had a seizure as erything went black and shaking till I hit the floor and I layed there what seemed like a hour or so
Doctor, I have a question. My grandmother says that when someone is about to faint, she says that it is good to smell pure alcohol. Is that correct or not? Could it affect anything?
Doctor Er can you react to the Fatalitys of Mortal Kombat XL? I've seen that you reacted to the X-rays and the Fatalitys of Jason, Predator, etc. but not all of the characters in the game.
@DoctorER It's a TH-cam series based on the world of Super Mario with wacky adventures, weirdness and memes, also fun fact: SMG4 is the same creator that Murder Drones by Glitch Productions. It's hilarious with many episodes containing injuries, medical scenes, bloopers and more in the world of the Mushroom Kingdom. Like explosions, broken limbs, burns etc etc. Also the Mario of the SMG4 Universe is called Stupid Mario.

I’m a scribe in the ER at a level II trauma center. It’s organized chaos, and I love it. 😊
What's a scribe again? You write things down or something?
