I would love if you ate the food like they do on all the cooking shows!! It makes it feel more home-y and real… like it’s actually there to eat and enjoy not just look pretty haha
@@xtraacrispy me too!! I don’t know if you ever watch Selena + Chef but afterwards everyone there eats all the food and praises it and I just think it’s so wholesome ☺️
Haha, they are called funeral potatoes because they always serve them at funerals in the midwest!! They are a staple for church ladies whipping up a meal for family and friends to enjoy after the funeral!
Essentially it was created because Christopher Columbus discovered “America”….but he didn’t actually discover America and there was a massacre. In the end the Europeans and the native Americans sat down to feast together and thats where the idea of thanksgiving came about. Now in the US we use it as a way to celebrate everything we are thankful for on one day, coming together with our families to “feast”. If that helps.
@@Lawong000 Christopher Columbus didn't sail on the Mayflower. Leave that part out when explaining Thanksgiving, it's about basically the Mayflower landing on Plymouth and getting help from the natives and feasting with them.
@@Lawong000 Yes Christopher Columbus just put North America (and other territories around) on the European map. You're right that he didn't discover anything, but he arrived a couple of decades before the pilgrims like Shannon said! So it's with the pilgrims arriving on the Mayflower and the indigenous people helping them plant crops that they didn't know (i.e. squash and cord) about and then ate it all together in 1621. However, it is noted a lot of pilgrims just took their food for themselves and also killed a lot of the indigenous people because of diseases.
Basically it’s just a fancy dinner at home with family and friends - it’s cute cause it’s a special day to appreciate everything. And lots of yummy food
Now in modern time people use the day to gather with family and speak about all the things they are thankful for that year. Whether if it’s with your friends or family it’s all about really slowing down and being surrounded by people you love. I like it because It becomes a time where I’m able to see people I can’t always see throughout the year.
Everything looks so delicious! One thing, just something that I have noticed. Is it possible to play up the background a little? Not go crazy with props, but have a little "fall flair" in the background? Even for future winter/holiday recipes, just a little something to spruce up the background! Keep it up Remi! :)
Remi being so excited to show us new recipes and just being cheerful makes my mood better. I was having such a crappy day but this video made me excited for Thanksgiving 😌☺️
Rémi hiiiiiiiii!!! Just a thought, for cooking with Rémi season 2 ( we all know you’ve got a season 2 coming 👀👀) You should do it in the same format as Selena +Chef You can FaceTime your friends and other people you want to cook with on the show and here’s the twist either you teach them a recipe or they teach you a recipe. Ohh and you can have a contest or something for us subscribers where the winner gets to go on a episode with you! And merch I mean an apron, a sweatshirt, ohhh possibly kitchen towels🙃 I mean just some thoughts to ponder about 🤷🏽♀️ otay byeeee congrats on your merch i can’t wait to buy it!!
Thank you for doing this video. It has giving me new ideas to do next week for Thanksgiving. Would love to see u do a collaboration with Rosana pansino. You both are my favorites.
I rrrrraalllly want a baked Mac and cheese recipe from you!! Or could you tell me what's your favorite recipe? I want to make it for Thanksgiving this year and I'm lost on what recipe to use !!
They looked so delicious and mouth watering. This is my first time watching your video. You are the best and I just subscribed to your channel. You are funny and talented and make cooking so much fun. Stay connected my friend.
You can take the neck in the bag of giblet’s from the turkey and Mae what my Grandmother called “giblet gravy”. All you do is set them to the side while your Turkey is cooking and when your Turkey is done, take the Neck & Giblets and boil them in water, save some of the water, then mix up enough Flour & Creme to make a gravy with and just add the giblet’s and the neck or just whatever you prefer. It’s so good, I’ve eat it for year’s drizzled over my Turkey. I take my bread and dip in it and eat it that way.
Actually the reason we call them funeral potatoes where I'm from is because it's always something a lady from the church makes for any and ever funeral.... But as a lacrosse intolerant individual I accept your version as well 😂😂
my mom makes the turkey every year. she stuffs the turkey with oranges, onions, apples, i think thyme and parsley. she seasons it with salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder (smallest bit bc some people in my family don’t like garlic),
Yes yes YES!!! Been so excited and waiting patiently because I adore Cooking with Remi AND I'm cooking Thankagviing dinner for the first time this year!!!
I’m vegetarian, so I can’t have any of these things, (except for maybe the dessert 😋) But I love Remi so much that I watch all her videos anyway, even if I can’t make the food ☺️
I’m just imagining Remi at the grocery store with half the dairy aisle in her cart 😂
The lactose intolerant people: 👁👄👁
@@madisonlovesyou6598 hahaha ME!!! Everything looks so good but the lactose would ruin my thanksgiving
HAHAHHAHA! not me being lactose intolerant, too! 👀
@@MissRemiAshten hahahaha REMI!!! NO!! 😂😂
😅😅😅

SAME! I’m super allergic to dairy
Can’t be a thanksgiving cooking w remi without that cornflake casserole🤩
The apron!!! YES QUEEEN. I can’t wait to come back to this when I finally muster up the courage to tackle cooking for thanksgiving🙌🏼
They are called funeral potatoes because we make them for the family of the deceased for the funeral luncheon.
That’s exactly what I was going to say
In Ireland we don’t celebrate thanksgiving and I’m not entirely sure what happens on thanksgiving but I still LOVED watching this video 💕

Remi you should keep the gizzards and either boil them or roast them for your pups! We do that for mine and they love them!!
Actually the reason we call them funeral potatoes where I'm from is because it's always something a lady from the church makes for any and ever funeral.... But as a lacrosse intolerant individual I accept your version as well 😂😂

I think they're called funeral potatoes because you serve them at a funeral. Like its a typical funeral , casserole dish.
