Great interview. I'm from Toronto. Been a fan since 1995. Every NBA player I've met says the same thing about Toronto. Beautiful city, underrated city. 2019 Parade was a lifetime experience!!!!!!!
Excellent conversation. Great to see Tyler again. I lived close to Poplar Bluff, MO during his high school days. Got to watch him play. He was a beast!
@@dannyheel1memphis was solid, duke had a deep roster that year, kansas was all decent, villanova and pitt could've probably put in some work vs them Syracuse was decent 09 was a solid year, even Blake at OU was decent so I think UNC had decent comp but was just that good
@@dub2967 his game just didn’t translate very well to the NBA. He pretty much played bully ball and had his way at UNC. That wasn’t going to work in the pros against big men who were as strong if not stronger and more athletic than him.
@@johngittings4673 That is the most accurate comparison I’ve seen. They both were the best players in college, played harder than anyone else, and won championships. Athleticism and play style didn’t translate in the pros for both of them
I was at UNC during Tyler's senior year. Those winter break games were awesome because tickets were relatively easy to get, and those boys played extremely hard...they did not take the break off. And Danny Green, when he was on, was as good as any college player that year, he was way better than a three and D player that year.
I'm assuming you were too young and just heard about and watched highlights of the 09 team. The 09 team had an advantage on every spot except the 4 spot. The 05 was better than 17 too. But Ty Lawson and Tyler Hansbrough were the most unstoppable players of all three teams.
09 is probably top 5 greatest teams ever in college. That 09 team broke scoring and scoring margin records. They were fast they were deep. They waxed Michigan State twice that year.
Great interview. Love hearing the perspectives of teams you really worried about. Prime Paul George in game 7 … had opportunity to defeat Miami Big 3 but Bron goes cyborg mode. Great NBA basketball memories
John Wall has an interesting story as to why he chose not to play for UNC. It involves the guy in this video. Then again, Wall did say in that same interview with Theo Pinson that he would go wherever John Calipari was.
@@johngittings4673 yeaa I seen his interview but I wasn’t talking about him. Just in general, like being a top player from there and not choosing either school is crazy to me lol
As a pacers fan, ya'll don't understand how excited I was to check this out. Bro that pacers playoff window was such a fun stint. At that time, bro I *hated* lebron for always being the hump that we could never get over. I don't hate on any nba players in general nowadays, but yeah man, LeBron was just different and on some MJ ish.
Danny Granger started having injury issues right when the Pacers finally got a good team around him. Indiana needed one more offensive threat to have a realistic shot at beating the Heat and Granger would have been that guy.
How they gonna talk about the "best championship team" without talking about '82? Forget about Jordan as he wasn't "JORDAN" yet. Worthy was that dude. Perkins, Jordan, Black... That team would have something to say about who is the best championship team.
Being from NC and then saying NC State think they in the same category as UNC is facts but in reality they in the same category as ECU (East Carolina University)😂
Heels fan for life but this isn't accurate. Ralph Sampson and Patrick Ewing were both 4 time all americans. 2nd team all americans their first years and 1st team the next 3 years. Unless you mean in the ACC and not nationally.
Tarheel fans if you had a team of Tyler Hanbrough, Rasheed Wallace, Vince Carter, Donald Williams, Elliott Cadeau, what Carolina team can you put together that could beat my team, and here's kicker, you can't have two players from the same team.😎🙄😮. WOW
This the one right here in my opinion the best modern day unc player ever
Best modern unc player ever? So is the best modern player or the best ever?
We gotta get Dennis Smith Jr & Seventh Woods on the pod

My main man Hansbrough. The best of all time to ever play in the baby blue. Phyco T!!!!!
I love that Tyler didn’t know what “deeper bag” meant and to see Theo have to step back and define it on the fly lmao
that’s kinda crazy that a nba player wouldn’t know what that means 💀
what's the timestamp?
It's hood talk Tyler is from the suburbs we call it putting the work in.
@@Bradleyjohsnon nah it's because T's skill set is so limited, lol "deeper bag? is that like second chance points or something"

The 09 team was UNREAL!
I don't know. There wasn't anyone close to their level that year so there's really no way to know how good they were.

Need a dennis smith jr episode. Appreciate y’all’s work.

Tyler Hansbrough was the Tim Tebow of basketball. Legendary four-year college player but didn’t have much of a pro career.

09 is by far better. The total NBA years of Lawson, Hanbrough and Ellington (all 1st rd picks) clear 2017 for a reason.
