you weren't just good once, you've been good if not great several times. Art comes in ebbs and flows. Sometimes you can't stop writing and sometimes you can't even start. The only thing that stops success is the fear of failure. So write. If it's shit, it's shit, at least then you will learn and be able to improve. Take out that book of ideas, pick one and flesh it out. Even if you just create something for you and your friends to look at, you don't need to post it for us. You have some talented friends who also have a love of film, they can help. To ask for help doesn't mean you aren't capable of doing it on your own, it just means you are wise enough to know to pull from your sources of inspiration. no one will see this comment, but i’m leaving it here for myself for later. i was at buffer fest in 2017 to see dodie. that was monumental in my life. that moment was when i started high school and where i see the division in my past and present self. i sat down below. i never knew dan was there until now. i’ve gone back to that same theatre twice since then. recently i went with my school. we sat up top. the person whom i most admire and is a big inspiration in my life sat where dan was sitting in the last clip. both him and dan have been some of my biggest inspirations to start theatre. and that theatre holds so much sentimental value for me. it is strange seeing worlds collide, but i think it is what i need right now.
At the risk of sounding a bit cringe, your PMS series is so unbelievably calming. There's something so refreshing about watching a simple, charming vlog video, I always watch it when I'm having bad anxiety and it soothes me so much instantly. Thank you for these!

I'm at uni now and I took your advice to get involved in a lot of things. I have friends, I'm writing as much as possible, working hard and I've taken up two new sports (pole dance and longsword fighting). I’m watching this in a library in a break i took from studying an exam for my major which i am not sure i want to finish. It’s been only a month and a half since i started university and i feel like i am not studying the thing i want. The thing is i have no clue what i want to do so i took a chance and chose something i am good at. Watching this makes me question my decision so much. I’ve been feeling insanely creatively void recently as well and this video helped! I’m at uni at the moment studying something I love but can’t seem to find motivation to love at the moment because I have a sinking feeling that it’s not what I should be doing. The problem is I’ve been studying for two years already and I only have one more so starting again feels like going backwards. I love TH-cam because it shows me that I don’t have to study film and writing and all the creative things I want to be doing to actually do it. I love your PMS series because it feels real and unfiltered to me and your chats about feeling a bit void and then the journey to feeling inspired again portrays a light in the tunnel I guess. I was there and I know who you are! I actually passed you and Connie while I was on my way to the Eaton Center to get dinner before a screening. I hope Buffer Festival helped you feel more inspired and confident in what you do. You asked how to get back into writing. It's simple. Write something that is absolute crap. Being a creative person is hard because we usually have very high standards for ourselves and think that if what we're making doesn't meet those standards than what's the point? But creativity is kind of like a muscle, you have to use it often if you want it to be strong. And sometimes that means making something no one else will ever see because at least than you're creating something.
This was a particularly lovely instalment. I totally get what you mean about wanting to 'join in' with creative pursuits - my family and I used to watch a show called 'Must Be The Music' (which was a bit like The X Factor, except with less drama and more focus on the actual musical talent). We'd watch all these incredible musicians audition/perform, and when we finished, I'd get up and head straight to the piano, because I was so inspired. Hope things are going well for you, I love your work. :)

When I think about acting I can't help but question everything and wondering if I'd be better off doing something else. Do I even have the right to call myself an actor? I'm in the state of not knowing who I am or where I'm going once I graduate uni in May and everyone around me seems to have some idea of what they're plans are and I'm still trying to figure out what I'm gonna do for a career and where I'll live and how I'll eventually get to NYC.
I'm still looking for me. I'm still very unsure. But I'm trying to put positivity into the world in the hope that some of that energy will find its way back to me. It's all a bit wanky, but hope is my fave so I'll try and create it where I can. You will find you somewhere along the way, I'm sure of it
